Green Pee and Weird Dreams
Vicodin has many weird side effects and it's a good idea to get off of it as soon as you can. I took it one day post-op and then switched to extra-stength liquid Tylenol which worked just as well. Vicodin will also "slow down" the internal plumbing so make sure you're drinking plenty of water and getting up and walking frequently.

Whoaaaaaaa... Locking threads at will?
It's ALWAYS easier to criticize how a person does a job... especially when it's not a job that you do. Alex and Penne don't get paid and they have to abide by the rules of the owner... as I understand it, that's a person called Alex. It's not fun to log onto a "support" board and see all the insults and bickering. Imagine how difficult it is to be a moderator who not only sees all this going on, but also gets private messages, alerts, public insults, etc. It's not a job many people would do for money let alone for nothing. Alex and Penne worked together and adressed the concerns. It's sad to think that because action was taken at the crack of a whip they are being dragged through the mud. Bottom line... the problem WAS dealt with so let's stop beating a dead horse. Instead of bitching and moaning, let's focus on MEMORIAL DAY and all those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

all nurses or doctors. i need help
That sounds like a z-pack. Take that as directed. As long as your fever does not go over 101.5 you should do OK. Take the Motrin for the pain and inflammation. If you're sensitive to Motrin, take some tylenol (850 mg).

Did you take a double dose of the antibiotic? That is becoming the preferred treatment for the FIRST dose of an antibiotic to spike the blood levels and attack the organism (bacteria). If you are feeling a lot worse, you might want to go to the ER for an IV dose of an antibiotic.

What's so good about Krispy Kremes?
I had a Krispy Kreme donut several years and thought I'd go into a sugar induced coma. LOL. Those things are sooooooo sweet. I'll pass.

Is this bad?
Some MDs do allow lean Protein but it's best to call the office and explain that you're not satisfied on the prescribed diet. Rather than having you risk "blowing" the pre-op diet or binging, they usually allow you to make modifications. I don't think you did any damage.

New & Scared
First of all, Welcome! You've come to a place where you'll find a lot of great information. I have a heart condition and my cardiologist was all for this surgery. Many diabetic patients have this surgery. My best male friend had it in July of last year and is now off Insulin. Knowledge is power and I would suggest you read a lot of the threads on this board and compile a list of questions for your MD. Go to informational meetings and listen to the experiences of others. I had the surgery 8.5 weeks ago and did fine despite my heart condition and the fact that I had pulmonary emboli (blood clots in both lungs) early this year. You're not losing your mind. You're just faced with a big decision and need time to sort it all out. That's why you're here.

Happy Memorial Day!!!
Memorial Day Quotes on War and Peace Saint Augustine (354-430) The purpose of all war is peace.
Menachem Begin (1913-) No more wars, no more bloodshed. Peace unto you. Shalom, salaam, forever. On signing the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty, Washington, D.C. (March 26, 1979)
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841-1935) I think that, as life is action and passion, it is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time at peril of being judged not to have lived. Memorial Day Address (1884)
A. E. Housman (1859-1936) Here dead lie we because we did not choose To live and shame the land from which we sprung . In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favored rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect. King Henry the Fifth (1598-1600), Act: III, Scene: i, Line: 1
UNESCO Constitution Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.
Frederick Moore Vinson (1890-1953) Wars are not acts of God. Help...
How much depends on what you're able to tolerate. I had 4 oz of lite ricotta cheese for breakfast (140 cals) and 4 oz chicken salad for lunch on 2 Wasa crackers (200 cals) and a protein shake (90 cals). For dinner, I am having 6 oz flounder (300 cals) with some soft veggies (100 cals) and 4 oz mashed potatos (100 cals). For dessert later tonight, I'm having a sugar-free pop (130 cals). Does that help?

A very embarrassing problem
Take two ex-lax and drink, drink, drink. In addition, get up and walk around to move things along. Fiber without tons of water will only result in more constipation. Did I mention, DRINK LIKE A FISH? LOL. I hope you get releif soon... it's a painful problem.

Help...
It sounds like you're on a soft diet and it appears you're not taking in enough calories. You need at least 60 grams of protein and 800-1200 calories a day. Good protein sources are lite ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, mashed meat balls, tuna and chicken salad, flounder, etc. In addition, make sure you drink the protein shakes and get in enough water.

Anyone else have problems with fills
I just had a 1 cc fill for the first time last Thursday and start back on a regular diet tomorrow. So far, I really don't feel any difference but am waiting to see if that changes in the next 1-2 weeks. I have another appointment scheduled with my surgeon in 6 weeks so I do hope I feel some restriction soon.

Forum Rules and Guidelines
Penni simply posted the rules and made a kind request for peace on the board. It's Memorial Day weekend people. Let's give it a rest and stop REHASHING the same old stuff. Can't we call for a day of peace to honor all of those who gave their life for the freedom we enjoy in America today? Pretty please? I declare Monday (Memorial Day) a day of peace. Anyone want to join me?

Looks like this thread is headed for lock-up as well. I wish all the bickering would end and the focus would go back to support.

what is your strategy?
It takes 20-30 minutes before your brain knows you're full so here's a few tips I find useful in beating the urge to binge: 1. Drink 2 glasses of water or crystal lite (16 oz) over 10 minutes (called water loading). 2. Keep fresh fruit salad in the fridge at all times so that when I am "on the prowl" there is something ready for me to eat. I don't care that it costs more for me to buy the fruit already cut-up. I'm worth it. 3. I keep 100 calorie treats on hand for when I need to crunch something. 4. I try and determine if I'm looking for food because I am bored. If so, I get my arse in gear and go outside and work in the garden or go for a drive or go to Barnes and Noble and read. 5. I have identified foods that I cannot control and have eliminated them from the house. I'm sure others will offer their "fixes" for beating the binge monster.

Anyone else dreading the day when people start to notice?
At one point I lost a lot of weight (200+ pounds). Most people noticed at the 100 pound lost mark and simply told me I looked good. As more weight came off, those who wanted to know how I did it seemed genuine. I lost it then through diet and exercise. I kept 100 pounds off so people have not yet noticed that I'm back in the losing game. When they do start asking, my answer will be the same... sensible diet and mild exercise and that will be truthful. This time around I merely have a tool assisting me and that is private.

Infected Port Incision - Advice Please!!!!!
I'm an RN and NOT an MD but a fresh post-op incision that is draining pus is NOT something to fool around with. You SHOULD be on an antibiotic. Furthermore, your surgeon should have seen you RIGHT away and cultured the drainage so he knew what bacteria he/she was treating. See an MD TODAY!

Sleep Study
C-PAP (continuous positive airway pressure) consists of a mask that is attached to a machine. The machine has the ability to deliver air or oxygen or air and oxygen at the same time and has settings that determine the flow of the air into the body that are individualized to the patient. Apnea (no breathing for 6 seconds or longer) is prevented by the pressure of the continuous flow of pressure into the airway.
