  1. Thank you for posting your experience. I noticed more hair on the shower floor and in the brush at the 2 month post-op point. Like you, my hair is fine and thin to begin with so I'm glad to hear it stops and reverses at the 6 month marker.
  2. We can add whatever section you think is missing so let us know.
  3. You have to develop new ways of coping and that takes time. The cravings are diminished a lot post-op so that helps but you always have to make a conscious decision and ask yourself if you're really hungry or are you falling into a habit. Once you begin losing weight and notice your clothes getting looser, you want to stay in that pattern. Success breeds success.
  4. I am so happy for you! Wednesday IS going to be a great day.
  5. Congratulations on getting through your surgery and I'm glad to hear all is going well. Get as much rest as you can so you heal quickly and keep posting to let is know how you're doing.
  6. Try taking the nexium at night. During the day you are upright and walking but at night you're flat and that is when you should take the Nexium.
  7. Susan, welcome! Eyfura, you're still a fresh post-op and likely have a lot of post-op swelling. Keep drinking and try and get in some protein. Maybe you could try some pudding and see if that goes down? Keep experimenting and stay hydrated.
  8. Try taking them with food and call your MD to see if you can take an extra acid blocker like Nexium. I hope you feel better soon.
  9. Welcome! We look forward to hearing more about your story.
  10. It's rained 18 out of the last 20 days here and more forecasted for tomorrow... let's switch. LOL.
  11. Until you're on solids for a few weeks, your weight is going to fluctuate a lot. It's best to weigh weekly. I had a 3 week period of time when I lost nothing and I was eating 600 cals max a day. I believe it was my body getting back in balance after the surgery and the month of post-op different diets. Now that I am on solids and have a healthy diet, I am losing each week. A pound is 3,700 calories. I am SURE your soup did not contain 3 x that amount to make you gain 3 pounds. LOL.
  12. I'd love curly hair! Mine is fine and thin and I have been losing more of it the past 3 weeks or so. When did yours stop falling out and did it come back thicker AND curly?
  13. Welcome! I too had a band and was miserable with it. After 3 years and 1 day, I revised to a sleeve and got the band out. Although I followed all the rules, the band never worked for me and the acid reflux was horrible. With a sleeve, it works right away. You have no appointments to fill it and then unfill it, etc. There is no foreign device inside you squeezing your upper stomach and the weight loss is proven to be faster and in a higher percentage than with the band. Some MDs say 6 months and some use a year as a guideline for getting pregnant so ask your OB/GYN. As for recovery, the sleeve was a much easier recovery than the band was. I went back to work as an RN and did two 13 hours shifts one week post-op.
  14. This sounds great. I don't eat meat so I'll try it with ground turkey! Thank you.
  15. Welcome! We love having new people and learning from successes like you. Thank you so much for sharing. You WILL make your goals!
  16. I'm gald to hear all went well and that's your home and happy. Congratulations on getting sleeved!
  17. Keep a medicine cup or a shot glass and a bottle of water with you and try drinking one half ounce every 30 min for 2 hours and then gradually increase the amount. If your urine is dark yellow, you're getting dehydrated.
  18. Welcome! Send some sun to New York! LOL. We're all about support here so feel free to join in and post any questions you might have.
  19. Welcome! I was there in April and I agree, it was a top notch experience.
  20. Thank you for posting your very inspiring story. You've already had great success and I'm glad you feel better. Life will keep getting better as we all work towards those goals we've set. Welcome!
  21. Welcome and congratulations on being a success with the VSG surgery. You WILL get to goal. Do you track all your food intake on a free site such as www.thedailyplate.com ?
  22. Welcome, and congratulations on your great success. I look forward to hearing more from you.
  23. Thank you! I am determined to get to goal and am enjoying having the band gone and enjoying healthy eating. We'll ALL make it!
  24. Depending on your anatomy, 70 to 90% (average 80%) of your stomach is removed. The hormone that is involved in making you feel hungry is called gherlin. It tells your brain that you're hungry and you respond by eating. Gherlin "lives" in the part of the stomach that is removed. Think of a sleeved stomach like a narrow straw that leads down to a pouch. The straw restricts how much food you take in and that pouch fills up fast on small amounts of food. You instantly feel full. Because the gherlin has been largely removed, cravings are dramatically reduced. It's your choice what you put down that straw. Ice-cream and other empty calorie foods slide right on down and you can pack the calories in. If you stick with 3 meals a day of healthy foods, you lose.
