Sonder got a reaction from VerityTee in What items are y'all buying for post-op?I bought a belly binder from Amazon. I also bought a new pill box/container in order to get sorted with my vitamins and other meds. I bought liquid Tylenol and Milk of Magnesium from Amazon, as well.
I went to Walmart and got some front closure bras. I have a button up shirt to bring and a cardigan if I get cold after surgery.
I bought all of my vitamins via BariatricPal's website. I did buy some food items from Walmart's website and I also bought clear protein powder from Amazon and my protein shakes from Costco.
I hope this helps, some! Good luck with your surgery. Mine is scheduled for September 23rd 2025! I'm nervous. But, I am also very excited to move forward in my life.

Sonder got a reaction from ShoppGirl in What items are y'all buying for post-op?I'm not sure, can people who have SADI surgery can drink through a straw? I had the VSG and it's recommended to not drink anything using straw. Just in case someone knows!

Sonder got a reaction from lisadf in Transfer addictionsThank you so much for sharing. I am afraid of this happening to me in some way, shape or form. When food is no longer an option, I'm worried I will become moody and depressed. I have a food addiction. That addiction is better now than it has ever been. With that being said, this lifestyle change we've embarked on requires a strong will. Kudos to y'all! It's not easy. After surgery we are forced (like it or not) to drop our food addiction, cold turkey. That is traumatic in itself. So, I understand getting hooked on something post-op.
My plan is to take my food addiction to the gym :) If I can sweat my way through the food cravings while listening to my favorite tunes, count me in! That's my plan. But, we'll see what happens.
I am also going to find a therapist that is well versed in addiction and trauma. That's on my agenda for after surgery!

Sonder got a reaction from Arabesque in I lost control for a moment...I completely understand. I had a mini-meltdown during the first day of my clear liquid diet. I was basically saying goodbye to food as I knew it. I was grieving my eating habits.
I, personally, still have an addiction to food. Food has always been a constant in my life. When there was nobody to lean on, food always had my back. But, that's trauma speaking.
I'm planning on going to a Food Addicts Anonymous session. There's also Overeaters Anonymous. I believe they both have websites. I suggest looking into resources like this that are free. I wanted to get therapy at one point - however, these sessions are free! They also host their sessions in-person, and via Zoom.
I went to Half Price Books and bought the official Food Addicts Anonymous book. I am going to be attending one of their Zoom sessions to see if it helps.
This chapter in my life is not just physical. It's mental, too. That's why I'm trying to heal both <3
I know you can overcome this obstacle. :)

Sonder got a reaction from TrippingDaisy18 in What items are y'all buying for post-op?I decided to buy a food scale and a Bariatric Food/Activity Diary from Amazon. I also bought some very small mason jars earlier this year. I bought a silicon ice cube tray to make protein cubes with. I also found a 64oz stainless steel water jug, with a screw on cap, at Walmart for $16. I will fill it every day, and work my way through it. Other than that, I'm good to go, I think!
My surgery is tomorrow! I'm praying for my surgery to go smoothly. <3
