  1. My doctor is very conservative. I had surgery 9/29 and I have only had 2 fills. I have lost over 40 lbs. He says as long as I am losing, that is what matters. Hope this helps. Dot:smile:
  2. Right I was banded 09/29 and I have only lost 36 lbs! You are doing great! Dot
  3. Hi, all 50 gang. I made it through Thanksgiving. I had a little turkey and dressing (my favorite) and some pecan pie and I still lost a pound this week so I am happy. Dot
  4. Nice to meet you Byrdie. I hope you find a group in Australia. This is a good place and lots of kind and interested people. I am just glad I made it through Thanksgiving here without any pecan pie! Banded 9/29/2008- Lost 33 lbs so far.
  5. HI, Tammy and ChaCha, I was banded on 9/29 and I have had 2 fills, and due for another on December 3, I was on liquids for 6.5 weeks and now only on mushies for 1.5 weeks. I have lost 33 pounds, but I think it is because I was on liquids so long. I don't really feel any restriction. Dot
  6. Great news Teri! I am so happy for you! Dot:tt1:
  7. It is a little breath spray I get from the Amway-Quixtar folks (our friends are big in that organization). It comes in cinnamon or mint. I think you must be able to buy something like it at regular stores. Good luck, Dot
  8. Hi, all, Terri, I hope things go better for you. You are very brave! I am doing well with my weight loss, but I still have over 100 lbs to lose. I think that is why I have lost so quickly also my doctor kept me on thick liquids for 5 1/2 weeks. So I am still on mushies. Banded: 9/29/2008 Lost: 30 lbs 110 still to go. September Samurai
  9. Mom, how great for you! Congratulations!! Dot
  10. April, I think everyone has said this very well, but I will add my 2 cents. I had the lap band because my health had gotten so bad. I will be 60 next year and I knew that my life was being shortened every day by my weight. DH and I took a wonderful trip last fall to New England to see the leaves and I could not enjoy it as I was so tired all the time. I did it to live a life I could enjoy. I was banded on 9/29 and I have lost 30 pounds. I feel 100% better despite the pain from the surgery. I think we each have to embark on this journey with our own needs and goals. It is not a magic answer; the band is just a tool. Good luck to you in your decision. Dot
  11. My heavens, once a month from LA to NYC! Wow you are a brave girl. And with 3 year old twins! I don't know that I would have done that. I feel so lucky, here I am in a much smaller city and I have great care 20 minutes away. I feel spoiled compared to you. There have to be great docs in LA. Good luck and I have to say what a brave girl you are! Dot
  12. My doctor always uses the fluro. He has done two of my fills and the PA has done one. I met her early in the process and I am very comfortable with her. I can't imagine this without the xray. They always like me to watch as it goes down. Dot
  13. I think all of us September Sumurai are doing well. The breath thing does seem to be worse for those of us who are diabetics. I have my breath cannister with me at all times. I do think it has to do with losing weight also. Good luck to all! Dot
  14. I was banded on September 29 and I feel the same--and even though I have lost 29 lbs. I still have plenty of blubber. So I am wondering what this is about myself. Any info would be helpful.
  15. Terrilynn, you are amazing to do this as a single mom. I think stress has a lot to do for you. Also you have to feed your children. My children are out of the house and my husband feeds himself. So I only worry about me. I am so impressed that you are exercising. I have not had the energy to start. Good for you!. Dot
  16. Hi, all, I was banded September 29! I have lost 29 pounds. I had no fill prior to surgery. I have had 2 fills and due for another one on Wednesday. I feel some restriction right after the fills, but it goes away. My physician keeps me on liquids until this Wednesday so I can start on mushies then, so we shall see how the fill works. I think that I have lost a lot of weight because I have a lot to lose. Many of you only have 60-70 pounds to lose. I have lost 29 and have 100 more to lose. Thanks all for the important tips. Dot
  17. Hi, What are baked scoops? Thanks so much.
  18. Wow, you lost 111 pound in 5 months? That is amazing.
  19. Wow you have lost 80 in 5 months. That is great! It seems like it will take me forever to lose that. Dot
  20. My doctor told me most lapbanders take 1 1/2 to 3 years to lose all their weight. So no worry! Keep up the good work. Dot
  21. Wow! I think you look great! I can see a big difference. Keep up the good work.
  22. Gigi, We are banded twins. I am still on only liquids. I have lost 26 lbs. But if I weigh everyday I go up and down. I have had 1 fill and have another Wednesday. My dr. does not prefill and he gradually fills it over 4 weeks. I can't have mushies until November 10. I am so tired of cream soup. What are you eating as mushies? Good luck and please keep in touch. Dot
  23. Wow you are doing wonderfully! I have about the same amount to lose as you do. I have lost 26 so far (31 including pre-surgery loss). It seems like such a long way. But I was impressed by your eating. Thanks for the inspiration! Dot
  24. Hi, I was banded on 9/29. I had my first fill 10 days ago. My doctor always uses the flouroscope and lets me look at it. I am still on liquids and he does the fills very gradually overy 4 weeks. I hope this is helpful to you, Dot
