  1. I was wondering when your surgery was. We are very similar in starting weight and in goal weight, but you are way head of me. I am only at 275. Thanks so much, Dot
  2. 'Ericka, My advice is protein, protein, protein. My BMI was 54 when I started and is 40 now, 10 months after surgery. I still have a long way to go, but it seems manageable now. I drink a lot of Propel. I was a diet coke addict, but I think they were involved with my not losing. My best to you, Dot:thumbup:
  3. Boy I think you are doing great. My surgeon had me only lose 5 lbs before surgery. I did have a liquid diet for 6 weeks after surgery. I am at 10 months post surgery. I have lost 72 lbs. but have 75 left to lose, so not quite 1/2 way there. I have had 3 adjustments in my band and think it is working well now. I hava had several set backs, but still lose a pound about every 12-14 days. It is slow, but I am much healthier. No more diabetes drugs, all with diet now. Hope to hear from more of us who have so much to lose, Dot
  4. Hi, all, I have not posted for sometime. I am working very hard right now. I am continuing to lose slowly (between .75 and 1 lb per week). I feel very good. Can even walk some on my very bad knees without constant pain. I take the lapband vitamins. I like their convenience and my doctor gives a discount. It is so good to see so many new people. Please check in here often. These ladies and gentlemen have been my life line during darker times. I was stuck for awhile and several of you suggested upping my protein and it worked. My hairdresser says it is the lack of protein that causes hair loss. Well again thank you all. Dot Banded 9/29/2009 Lost 63 lbs, 77 more to go!
  5. Joe, I know how you are feeling; in our kitchen are 3 different kinds of chips and nothing really for me to eat. My husband and I go away this weekend. I am starting with new resolve and buying healthy snacks on the way home! - Banded 9-29-2008 BMI 54 Present BMi 41 lost 61 lbs
  6. Hi, all, I am struggling with eating things I shouldn't right now and my weight is going up and down 1 to 3 lbs. I know I need to be strong, but there are so many things that tempt me right now. Stress is high as I have my daughter back home going to beauty school. We took out a loan for her to go and I am worried she will not follow through. I have always been such an anxious eater! It is good to be able to write this down and talk to you all, thanks, Dot Banded 9-29-2008 Highest weight: 350 Present weight: 283 Lowest: 279 (last week!)
  7. Kygie, I am so sorry about your assualt. I hope you have seen your doctor. They know best. You are doing great. Keep up the good work and get help! Dot
  8. Hi, Dot, from anther Dot! I was worried about my insurance also, I had to go through 9 mos, but Aenta finally approved me. I have heard that Aetna does that. Good luck to you and glad to have you here.
  9. Helene, I am so glad you are ok. The weight in the hospital is often from IV's and kidneys working more slowly. It will come off. Do not worry!! On my personal note. Not doing so well, I am eating too much. Our daughter is moving back home (after 3 years in a very destructive relationship). I am so glad she is leaving the relationship, but I am missing our privacy and our quiet way of life. Emo eating going on big time here. I have gained 2 lbs of the 59 I had lost back. I have to get my head straight about this. So glad I have this site. Thank you all. Dot
  10. Daisy, I have missed this some place. Why are you having the sleeve done? You have lost all your weight, right? Are you having trouble with the band? I do not mean to be noisy, but I missed this somewhere along the way. Thank you, Dot Banded 9/29/2008 Lost 59 lbs since banding 110 more to go
  11. Helene (Katie) I hope you are home soon and this ordeal is over. Prayers and Love, Dot
  12. I have so much more to lose that the rest of you, my original BMI was 54. I have lost 59 since 9/29/08 (banding) and 6 pounds before that. I think you all are dong terrific. I still have over 100 lbs to lose, so i know it will take me at least 18months. But I am ok with it. Good luck to all, Dor
  13. Joanne, You are a true artist. What beautiful quilts. Dot
  14. Urgent question!! Does anyone know what has happened to Fitday.com? That is where I do my food journal and it helps me with my calories. When I go to the link or google it, it says it is a broken link. I have really relied on it. Thanks, any info. is helpful. Dot
  15. I was wondering about that, I think I am pretty near my spot, but I am hungry every 3 hours also. I found these 30 calorie laughing cow cheese and that helps me. But I do have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day even though my surgeon would not like me to have but 3 meals. Banded 9/29/2008 Lost 55 lbs.
  16. [if you look at my food journal you'll see what I find amazing. I started mushies on Friday and this weekend I ate canned venison, pizza, broiled cod, cheese and venison sausage. I don't think of these as mushies. Had no problems eating them though. I drank 5 glasses of wine on Saturday night at party with past co-workers. I know that wasn't smart. Also cals are way up to about 1400 day. Is this acceptable? What are mushies? Could I have damaged anything? I don't think so, and feel good. What should one be consuming 2 weeks after surgery? As far as streghting my pouch shouldn't I have thrown up because of over stuffing? Did I over stuff? Any advice please Bearbelly Every surgeon is so different. Mine kept me on liquids for 4 weeks, and mushies (tuna, cottage cheese, oatmeal) for 2 weeks. Also I cannot drink for 6 months after surgery. I thought I would die, but have gotten used to everything! My problem is that I still have to watch to not eat too fast. I could never lose on 1400 calories per day. I have to stay under 1200 to lose, but again everyone is different. Talk to your doctor--he should have a dietcian or someone in his office who can talk to you about what to eat. Banded 9/29/2008 Lost 55 lbs 3 fills
  17. Katy, You are in my prayers. Indio, thank you for everything you do! You are the best! And good luck to all. Dot Banded 9/29/08 Lost 55 lbs.
  18. Bandit what is a vibration plate? Banded 09/29/08 Lost 55 lbs
  19. My surgeon is sure I don't know when I am getting full yet (and he is so right). When I am out to dinner and chatting I have no problem, but at home I have to time my self to take small bites of protein every min and chew very fully. It takes me about 20-25 min to eat my cup of food. If I eat to fast I get horrible pains in my back and other things no so nice to talk about. I am hoping someday I will learn what full feels like but for now I have to watch portions and time my eating. Katy I am so happy about you seeing a new surgeon. We love your GP. Dot
  20. Katy I agree with everyone here; I can't believe the surgeon can be so heartless. My prayers are with you. You have so much on your plate right now. With all of us praying for you, you can't help but get better and some of this stress off of you! Dot
  21. Katy, How kind you are! You are in my thoughts are prayers. It is great of you to think of others at a time when you are hurting so! Dot
  22. The first two weeks were horrible for me. I think that I was dealing with my food addiction. I had used food as my answer to anxiety and I was very worried and had a horrible time. It gets better! Good luck to you on this journey! Banded 9/29/2008 Lost: 51 lbs
  23. I agree; I see the doctor next week and I am sure I need a fill. I am hungry but still losing about 1 lb per week. I am glad to hear you can get a tiny fill. I worry because sometimes I am still tight. Good Luck to ALL! Banded 9/29/2008 Lost: 51 lbs
  24. I was told to sip (not gulp) all the time after the first 48 hours. Dot
