  1. It has been pretty quite on here lately, so I thought I'd start a new topic. those of you already banded early in the month. How are are you doing? What are you eating, are you back to work, feeling any pain etc.? I have lost 12 since surgery - 25 total. wooo hoo. I am eating lots of purees of course. I found some sites to make homemade babyfood, so I've used them. Yesterday, I bought a can of campbells chunky chili with steak and Beans, into the blender it went. It was good - normally, I don't like beans, because of the texture, but hey they were being pureed, so why not. today, I got a can of progresso chicken corn chowder. It was not the best choice - 200 cal for the serving, but, I have been doing so good, I figured it was time for a little treat, and that is a much better treat than my former usual - Peanut Butter Cup I am back to work, but wed I over did it a little, so I developed a bit of a muscle pull. My kids are going to have to learn to help out around the house more. they were good the first couple of days post op, but once mom was up and around, it was like all bets are off. I do have my first Pampered Chef show post op tomorrow, but my daughter will be going with me to help carry everything. I'm excited and nervous.

    baltimore area?

Hi Jaded, we are neighbors, I'm in Overlea area. Welcome to the group. I'm not real active on here. I went over to Sparkpeople.com to do my food tracking and found two lapband groups there. But Lapbandtalk is a great place to get all of your questions answered. Wishing you the best, and feel free to e-mail me. I was banded on 1/09 at Hopkins. I'm doing very well. I've actually lost 43 lbs since pre surgery, and 30 since surgery. I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Anyone NOT hungry??

I'm with ya, and I'm a month out. I just don't feel hungry much. 5:00 is a hard time, so I've been trying to keep a snack with me then, but other than that, I'm not usually hungry except at regular meal times. However... I am eating a snack in between breakfast and lunch and then at 5 - we eat dinner at 6:30. At this point, I am getting in about 1000 or so calories a day.

    baltimore area?

Hey Sharon, don't know that I can be a mentor, but I'll be a support. I've been in bandland for two weeks on friday. The first week was the hardest to get through. I was so tired of chicken broth. I was allowed tomato Soup if it did not bother me, so I did that a little bit as well, I did half tomato, half beef broth, to put some protien in it, and then added 1 tbsp of unflavored protien - just be careful with the temp or it will clump up. I also added unflavored protien to my crystal light. I got my unflavored protien at GNC it was by one get one free for a pouch. I use it every day in some capacity and I still have about 1/4 of the pouch left, so it has gone far. I was only on liquids for one week, then pureed for 3. So I am a little over a week into pureed. I was never so happy to get something with a little "weight to it" and now, I'm feeling quite fine. I've actually been able to build a little variety into my diet as well. Hubby made a WW beef stew last sat. I took some it, put it in the blender - whala, pureed beef stew. Next night, he made creole chicken - which was a poached sortof method, so again, took some of the chicken, the tomato and broth, and I had creole chicken puree. On monday, I thought about it, I was making babyfood, so i did a search, found some homemade babyfood sites and got some ideas there. Tomorrow will be a cooking day for me, as I am low on frozen meals. I have also taken some canned chili (campbells steak and beans) and thrown that into the blender. Great thing is. I love chili, but not chili Beans, but pureed, they were fine. Good luck, keep moving forward and post here if you need some help, cheering up, to complain or you want to cheer about something. Which by the way - I am down 12 lbs since surgery!!

    early january banders

KMC - congrats on your 7 and 20 total - I have my post op check up on monday. when I eat eggs (egg beaters white) I only do 3 tbsp which equals 1 egg, that's all I can manage. Usually when I eat, I get about 1/2 cup, but I'm hungry about 2 hrs later, so I will eat the other half of a serving then. according the nutrition tracker I'm using, Im only getting about 550-700 cal a day

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

the first "meal" I had on pureed was WW beef stew that my husband made. I took out an oz of the beef, a oz of the potato, and oz of carrot, took a little bit of the broth and put it in the blender - it was good. the next night he made a WW creole chicken - did the same thing, but this time, there was no potato, there was tomato instead. that was good as well. monday I started thinking about it - I was making babyfood. so, I went on line googled homemade babyfood, and got some ideas. I made up a chicken dinner for myself and put a few of those in the freezer ready to go. tonight, I made lipton cup a soup - broccoli cheese, took some left over ham in the blender - whala - broccoli, ham, cheese soup.

    Special K Protien Water?

I tried the special k - lemon and did not like the flavor. plus the money for it is high. what I do now - I just add 1tbsp of GNC unflavored protien to my crystal light it gives me the same 5 grams of protien with a flavor I like and a cost my wallet likes

Jacks, I don't know how much the medi fast is, but I got GNC - with water they are 120 calories - 20 grams of protien and at riteaid, almost always buy one get one 50% off or or free, I think the pouch I bought was 15.00

I will go back next week, pending not needing to have a plantars wart excised from my foot which immobilizes me for 3 weeks.

    Lap-ban questions.

Semone I'm doing well today, last night was the first night not taking any pain meds - now I don't know what to do with the two enormous bottles of Oxycotin they prescribed me -if I was a different person.... I actually slept on my side a little last night. Only thing, I had a little emotional breakdown when my family was having hotdogs and french fries for dinner and I was having my mixture of tomato Soup and beef broth for the third time. I can not wait for purereed food

    Intro

Hi all, My name is Melissa, I was banded on 1/9. I am doing well, still sore at my port incision, but overall doing well. Looking forward to this journey. I had a little "buyers remorse" on fri and sat in the hospital and as I was trying to get myself up and down my stairs, but got over that - and now "my head is in the game." was happy to get in 56 gms of protien today - well, I'm working on a shake right now that will put me at that. I look forward to getting to know everyone
  24. thanks Kiz, that makes me feel a little better- something to look forward to when port incision pain goes away
  25. Hi I was very gassy as well, I told my husband yesterday morning, "I'm upping my standards" he was like what?? I then said, well now I won't leave the bathroom until I pass gas 3 times - he just looked at me and said - "well, I guess I know you love me, cause otherwise you would not have said that to anyone else." He has been a doll as well. I am taking off work until tues. My husband was going to take off all week, but I think he will go back half day on thurs and fri. I just wish it weren't so frickin' cold here in Md so I could stand to walk outside. I'm tired of my walls. but of course we get a cold spell just in time for me to come home from surgery.
