  1. Ten months since surgery and down 90 pounds. Thinking about the possibility of PS in the future, but hoping to limit the need as much as possible. It was touched on at the beginning but I didn't bring up a lot of questions myself. :bored:

  3. I had to have my very first "un-fill" today because I was a tad too restricted. couldn't keep anything down, liquid or solid. Had 1/2 cc fill on Monday (April 20th) and went back today to have a little over 1/4 cc removed. I had lost 6 pounds since monday as absolutley nothing would stay down. The pressure was terrible and I had pb'd, slimed, thrown up, you name it I did it. Glad to have some of it removed so I can get back on to the normal routine again. This entire experience has been amazing. Have lost 72 pounds since September 24th and could not be more pleased. We all just have to keep reminding ourselves...chew, chew, chew. Good luck everyone!
  4. I also am guilty of the Pizza thing from time to time, but luckily I can't tolerate bread, so I just eat the toppings and cheese. And it is an individual pizza so not huge. I tell myself I am just eating the protein off the pizza, but still feel guilty afterwards. As for the protein shakes, my Doc tells me to stay away from liquid calories and I associated shakes with that. I am losing pretty much on track and today is D-Day. Gotta step on the scale at the Doctor office, so we will see how I am doing for this month. Good luck everybody and don't beat yourselves up when you do have those weak moments. Half the battle is realizing when we are weak and working towards more strength.
  5. My dietician didn't want me having any caffeine but I told her I just had to have a little bit of coffee in the morning to get the eyelids unglued. She said ok to a cup of coffee and since that time I have had 1/2 cup of regular coffee every morning and it has never bothered me. I was banded in September so I would think if it was going to be a problem, I would have noticed by now. Man (nor woman) should not live without coffee!!!
  6. I suffer hot flashes and pre-lap band I was taking Estroven Extra Strength which totally helped curb the hot flashes. Now that I am lap-banded and can't take those big "horse pills", does anyone know of an alternative chewable that will help w/ the hot flashes?:tt2: I live in Minnesota but I'm burning up here......will take any suggestions.

Filled on Monday, Un-Filled Saturday night

I was banded on 9/24/08. My doctor says it is a 10cc band and after my last fill in December I am at about 9cc. The last fill seems to have put me right at the edge between that "sweet spot" and almost a tad more than I should have. I am definitely not able to eat anywhere near as much as I could before the fill but am eating enough (and if I try to eat too much, it comes up of course). I see the doctor again today and I am sure he will not want to put anything more in there (I will have lost about 12 pounds since my visit last month). I don't want him taking anything out either. I just have to learn where the limit is on how much I can eat before I go over the edge.

    Any September Banders?

I was banded September 24th. I was worried about the thanksgiving holiday but didn't gain anything thank goodness...didn't lose anything either. Seem to be stuck in a spot as well. Have lost 28 pounds and want to see the scale move again.

Anyone have exercise equipment they can recommend?

I'm in the same boat as far as needing exercise recommendations. I was banded Sept. 24th and have lost 23 pounds. Finally down to 300. I have osteoporosis and am quite susceptible to falling. Having had enough broken bones in the last 3 years, I am afraid of walking. Living in Minnesota, weather is not real conducive to walking a good portion of the year (cold & snowy). I want to get some type of exercise equipment that will help me but am afraid an exercise bike won't work either because of my knees. Any suggestions?

I think I'm eating tooo much

Thank goodness my question has now been answered. I was banded Sept. 24th. I have done so good....23 pounds lost since my 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet until one week after surgery. Now I'm at what I can only presume is "bandster's hell". I have gained 2 pounds and don't feel full most of the time. I don't get my first fill until November 5th and I can't wait. I want to get the ball rolling. This has been a tough time because I just didn't understand why the scale was going the wrong way. I'm so thankful for this site.

    A Month In....

I'm pretty much where you are too. Lost a quick 23 pounds including my liquid pre-diet and am now at a stand-still waiting for my first fill November 5th. It's kinda frustrating that waiting when you just want to get on with the losing. But I want it to happen the right way, so I'm be as patient as I can.
  12. I went to GNC and got a orange cream and a caramel flavored whey protein and they both taste really good. GNC has lots of flavors to choose from.

    I am now banded

I am now banded too as of September 24th. Feeling wonderful and for several days after surgery, I had absolutely no appetite. I was having to struggle just to get enough protein in me. Now that I have healed pretty well and alot of swelling is down, I feel like I am at a standstill. Lost maye 2 pounds in 10 days. Don't go in to see doctor until November 5th where I will get my first fill. Trying to remain positive and optimistic.
  14. I've been reading alot of responses and keep hearing about people's pb'd. Do you know what that means?

    September 24th band surgeries

Today is 9 days post-surgery and I am feeling quite well. Little bit of soreness in my port area. Got my staples out on Wednesday (exactly 1 week after surgery) and I am glad to have them gone. Did get one small incision near my bra line and had I read about that ahead of time, I would have asked most certainly not to put one there as it is a bit irritating. But I am still wearing the bra (think there must be a law against not wearing one when you are my size....lol). Since starting the liquid diet pre-surgery, I have lost 22 pounds and I am so excited. I know this is a life-time journey, but one I am glad to be on. Hearing from other bandsters helps w/ the understanding and keeps me motivated. Let's ALL keep up the good work!

    Any September Banders?

One week post-op. Feeling great. Staples removed today. Was up walking the night of my surgery. Everything staying down well. Dr. said I was doing great. 22 pounds down since starting liquid diet (total lost last 3 weeks).....loving being a loser.
  17. Having my band surgery tomorrow and after reading all these posts, I have one question which may be absolutely stupid....but I keep reading about pb'ing. What is pb? Am I missing something?

    Any September Banders?

September Bandster here as well. Mine is Wednesday, September 24th with Dr. Lee at United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota. I'm so excited. Doing the two week pre-surgery liquid diet too. Feeling very determined.
  23. CarolGrant

    Excited

My doc required 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet. So I have been enjoying high protein, low fat broths, sugar free carnation instant breakfasts, sugar free jellos and puddings, cream of wheat, and what comes in handy and you can get at GNC stores is the whey protein powder. They come in many different flavors and make great shakes and smoothies. GOOD LUCK!!

    Excited

Thanks for the encouragement. Also, was wondering once I have my surgery, how do I get the BMI weight loss thingy to show on my threads. I see them on alot and think it is an encouraging thing.
