Hello Size 22 ! My NSV :)
Good job Mandi! Isn't it exciting? I bought some clothes yesterday too, I'm down to a 20, 2 sizes, I'm very happy. I have the exact opposite problem that you and Yoda have, I'm 5'10" and EVERYTHING IS TOO SHORT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the fashion industry thinks that fat girls just can't be tall. Congratulations on your loss, way to go, keep up the good work!!

I'm Ready To Quit.
I'm so sorry you're having a rough time, you definitely need to do something about the way things are being handled at your surgeon's office. Like you need more stress! Geez. If it helps, I'm in hell right now on my post op liquid diet as well, so at least you know there's someone else out there feeling the same way!! HANG IN THERE, YOU CAN DO IT!

I'm home in SK and S T A R V I N G...
I was banded on Friday morning, we just got home today, and I'm so hungry I could cry. I'm on clear fluids until Friday and don't know what to do, I'm going through the "Oh my GOD what have I done, I can never eat again and I'm starving" mode right now. I'm actually drooling over SALADS....now I KNOW something is wrong when I'm drooling over lettuce. I can't believe how much I depend on food throughout every single day of my life, this is sick. I've been taking Boost (it's a new juice, considered a clear fluid), Propel, popsicles, a little bit of low cal cran/grape juice, Water, broth....is there anything else I can have? I've been following the TLBC post-op 1st week diet religiously. I have to be on clear fluids until Friday. I have some of that

I made it through surgery
Thanks everyone, you guys are great. I'm feeling really sore today, I took a shower which felt great but wore me out. How long after surgery did any of you go back to work? I didn't know both docs performed the surgery, thanks for letting me know Yoda. I fly home tomorrow and can't WAIT to get out of this hotel room. Thanks everyone, Buffie

I made it through surgery
Hi everyone, I made it through my surgery on Friday, I'm at my hotel and feeling ok. I was so scared before the surgery I actually started to cry, what a wimp. Anyway, I'm having some gas pain (at least I hope that's what it is) which is in my abdomen, I feel really bloated and sore, but I had no nausea at all, thank the lord! I feel like this is all some weird dream, it doesn't seem real. I was told Dr. Joffe was doing my surgery, but Dr. Yau met with me for like 30 seconds before the surgery and I never saw him again. I guess he did the surgery, I never saw Dr. Joffe. I felt like they were rushing me out the doors, but I felt ok to leave. I never met Nisrine, only Kathy. I met with the anesthetist very briefly before surgery as well, I have a HUGE bruise on my arm from my IV. I didn't get a very warm feeling from Dr. Yau or the anesthetist, they both seemed to be in a rush and just wanted to get me done and out the doors. I've had 4 surgeries in the past and never felt like it was being hurried like that. Anyway, I'm flying home on Monday and can't wait to get home. I'm taking Demerol every 4 hours or so, it takes the edge off. Anyway, thanks again for all the well wishes from you guys, I'm glad it's over! Buffie

Things that make you go Hmmm...
It's really frustrating because we'd all freak if someone said, hey Buffie, I noticed that your ass is getting bigger! And I guess they just figure our weight issues are SO sensitive that they don't want to add anything at all...when ALL we want to hear is, hey Buffe, I noticed your ass is getting SMALLER!! The important thing is that YOU feel better and YOU notice! GOOD JOB and keep up the good work!!!

Leaving for TO on Thursday morning
Thanks guys, it sure helps to hear from other people. My hotel is in Mississauga, by the airport, I got a $65/night rate for a full suite, I figured the of cab ride to and from the clinic (45 minutes or so) still wouldn't cost as much as a room by the clinic. We're staying in Toronto for 4 nights. I pray this surgery helps, I'm sure you all had second thoughts before you went in, I just keep imagining that I'll get the band and nothing will change. It seems like there are a lot of people on this board who have this going on. Anyway, thanks everyone, you're the best! Buffie

Leaving for TO on Thursday morning
Thanks for the replies, it helps. The biggest thing I'm worried about is post-op nausea. I have a real problem with anesthesia and nausea, being nauseous is THE WORST thing in the world for me. I already let the clinic know about this and that I would like Maxeran in my IV prior to the surgery, during the surgery, after the surgery. I can handle pain, nausea I can't handle so well. WoodyS, Did your post-op nausea go away quickly? How long did it last? Were you given Gravol? I have a 45 minute cab ride back to our hotel after the surgery and I have visions of puking in the cab. What does the clinic look like? Did you feel safe there? Thanks, Buffie

Leaving for TO on Thursday morning
Hi everyone, I'm leaving for the TLBC on Thursday, surgery Friday morning. I'm REALLY nervous and scared. I'm also exhausted and weak (I think I'm actually starting to hallucinate) from the pre-op yogurt/cottage cheese diet, I can't eat very much of it or I gag, I'm so sick of it. I think I'm only managing about 300-400 calories/day. I can't even IMAGINE what starving people go through! So anyway, for anyone who went to the TLBC, how long after surgery until you were released from the clinic? How did everyone feel when they were released? Were you able to walk ok? Nauseous? Able to handle a long cab ride? Thanks!

Ideas for cottage cheese?
I'll have to try the Crystal Light thing and the new flavors. Yoda, can I have anything on/in the cottage cheese like spaghetti sauce or fruit? Or is it just the straight yogurt and cottage cheese with just spices? I can't remember what Nisrine said. They probably only want the basics since adding sauce or fruit would add calories.

Ideas for cottage cheese?
Hi everyone, I've started the TLBC pre-op cottage cheese/yogurt diet and I need some ideas on things to add to the cottage cheese/yogurt to give me some variety, this is my second day and I'm bored and HUNGRY!!

Low calorie protein powder
Mandi, I just ordered (on the phone) some of the unflavored powder from unjury and samples of the other flavors, I'll let you know how they taste. They said that the unflavored is the best because you can mix it with anything and it's tasteless and smooth, and that it is the most popular flavour for their WLS patients. They will ship to Canada (shipping charge is $12) and it takes about a week. Talk to you later.

Low calorie protein powder
Hi Mandi, I don't think the Isopure is available in Canada, I can't stand the Slimfast tasting stuff either, brings back too many bad memories of the past. I think I'll try the stuff Yoda mentioned, at least you can mix it with Water. How are you doing? Is your band working well for you?

Low calorie protein powder
Hello everyone, Can anyone/everyone please give me some suggestions on a low calorie Protein powder/shake to use after surgery? I'll be on clear fluids for week 1, and full fluids weeks 2 and 3, I'm not sure what types of Protein powder to be using that's low fat, low calorie. Has anyone ever tried Isopure or IsoPro (not sure about the names)? Thanks.
