    May 2024 Surgery Buddies 😁

Is it easier to drink than normal water? Honestly unless it has a powder mix in it, I’m not drinking it.

    May 2024 Surgery Buddies 😁

Hi Sandra, Two weeks of shakes are the hardest but once you get past the surgery you will kill for that. I would not plan on staying in bed often after the surgery during the hospital stay. It is best to start walking at least once an hour. I was the only one of the 12 people who got the surgery who was up all night just walking. Hospital beds are the worst to sleep in. Best of luck in your journey.
  3. I am 4 months out and down 185 pounds. Looking at these two photos is mind-blowing to me

    I want solid foooooooood!!!!

I hear ya, trust me, it gets easier. Just drink a lot of water, dehydration got me good. I waited an extra week to go solid, start small when you do, a slice of deli cheese will tell you if you are good to go or not.
  5. For me, I am cautious with every food I have been trying. Thankfully, with the exception of chicken, I am not finding myself adhering to that rule, again cautiously. It all depends on how your body is reacting, everyone is different.

    My pre op

Congrats! Make sure you take things slow and don't rush to the stages. I was told after week 3 I could have dairy, My stomach couldn't handle it and got sick immediately. Also if you don't end up losing a lot right away, remember everybody's body is different and takes time. You are doing the best thing for you and best of luck. 2 months post op and haven't regretted it!
  7. I had issues with water after surgery but what I found during my cleanse was to buy packets of powder like zero sugar Gatorade and country time lemonade and it is honestly the one thing that helped me get back on track post op. There are a lot of options (unsure what is available near you) but your local market and/or amazon would be a great place to start. Just make sure you have a toothbrush nearby, the zero sugar stuff kills your teeth.

    Liver Shrinkage Diet struggles

I used sugar free powders for gatorade to help out. There was one day where I had withdrawal of all the sugar and junk I was getting rid of but outside of vertigo and nausea it was relatively easy. I also inertially went to the middle of nowhere in North Carolina where I couldn't be tempted to cheat on the diet.
  9. I’m planning on a cross country road trip. Pre surgery, when I did those just had my trusty cheeze-its and whatever fast food was near me when I need to stop and charge. If anyone has any tips on what I should bring to keep me full or tips on some good munchies let’s hear them! Obviously fast food is out (for the most part) this time. I won’t be leaving until mid February when I’m 3 months post op TIA

    Tortillas

What about hard shell tortillas? I could not eat soft shell pre-op but really enjoy that crunch.

    Cheese

4 weeks post and can’t handle more than 2 slices of deli sliced American cheese.
  13. I stayed overnight (had Anthem for surgery) took 10 days off of work if you do stay overnight, make sure to walk constantly. it was the only thing keeping me sane.

    December Surgery Buddies!

I stopped soda just before, thankfully haven’t had any withdrawal from caffeine. Day 1 of the pre-op was the worst. I’m on day 5 now and it’s no issue.
