Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor I am 2 weeks banded and need a buddy!!
Hi Courtney, I was banded in Dec as well. To date I have lost a little over 20 lbs. I desperately need a buddy. I tried an exercise buddy but our schedules conflicted. My weightloss is slow which is what I wanted, but I've dropped about 2 sizes so people can see the progress. The fills work at first then in 2 weeks the restriction is gone. I'd like to find a buddy to keep me coming back to the site to check in regularly and someone to keep me motivated about exercise. The summer is close and for my b-day I'd like to be in a size 16. I'm currently in an 18 so I'm close. I figure 15 lbs should get me there. So anyone, everyone, please reply!!!!

Any regrets?
I have been banded a little over a month. I must admit the weight loss for me is slow even following the pre and post op diet, but I have no regrets. The pain for me lasted about 2 days and was tolerable with the pain meds. The food does get stuck if you dont take small bites and chew thoroughly. That feeling last a few short minutes. Dont drink fluids or it will come right up. Stick with it, it is well worth the pain. I have learned the band only adds assistance to weight loss and the key is what you eat and exercise. Good luck. Be patient, and be strong. There are more success stories with lap band than there are disaster stories. Remain optimistic and you'll be fine.

Any December '08 Bandsters?
I got home from surgery about 2:30 pm. My nurse too said I was the best and fastest recovering patient. I woke up with no pain just a sore throat from the breathing tube. I almost didn't think I had surgery because the doctor only made two holes not five. I was like, are u sure I had surgery. All in all, this morning I woke up with a little pain/soreness. Went to the gym and walked the treadmil slowly and rode the bike carefully. I'm determined to work with my band for the rest of my life.

Any December '08 Bandsters?
Tomorrow is my day too. I am so excited for the surgery and just a little nervous about the outcome. This will be the best christmas ever for me. This surgery marks the first step to a fresh new year. Good luck to all those being banded and please lets be active in replies about our progress. I know if I hit a slump I can come to this site and find comfort.

Not Losing Weight on Pre Op
Thanks. You guys are probably right that the liver shrinking is the most important. Guess I'm just gettting anxious. Thanks for the support.

Not Losing Weight on Pre Op
I didn't have any goal for weight loss, I just felt the pre op would jump start the weightloss. I was told to avoid caffeine so I've been drinking plenty of water/crystal light, de caffeinated splenda coffee/tea and sugar free tropicana. I'm not nervous about the surgery but am nervous my liver has shrank cause the pre op weightloss isn't going as I expected. I have 4 days left and I plan to make the most of them.

Not Losing Weight on Pre Op
Hello Everyone, I am 10 days in the pre op diet Optifast 800. I've been following this diet closely and have only lost about 3 lbs. I weigh myself every morning when I wake up and every night. When I wake up I'm always lighter so I'm optimistic about the diet for the day, but when I go to bed I'm always back to my original weight if not a pound heavier. I am discouraged because all I have had all day was the liquids. Some days I have even gone to the gym and exercised. What I realized is that my cycle is coming and I may be retaining water weight. Any suggestions about what to do about the water weight. My family and friends say the amount of weight you lose prior to surgery is irrelavant because its the shrinking of the liver that matters most. Please help, I want to have this surgery worry free and optimistic about the outcome.

Any December '08 Bandsters?
My surgery is 2 weeks away and I'm starting my pre op diet today. A few weeks ago I did a liquid diet just to see if I can handle it. It's not as bad as I thought but it's a little irritating to smell everyone else's food at work. I'm excited about the surgery so I'm not going to let anything discourage me as I keep my eyes on my goals. How is everyone else coping with the liquid diet?

Relationship Question
Been married about 4 years and I have less then 4 weeks for surgery. My husband is supportive of weight loss but not so much weight loss surgery. Our relationship changed prior to me pursuing the lap band, and I am sure it will end eventually just because of our personalities. I'm losing weight for my health and my children, and my husband will have a small window of time to either get on board or jump off the pier. LOL. Seriously, we have many discussions on how my attitude may change after surgery. But the reality is, I'm the same person. I dress provacative in a size 22 and I'm sure I'll dress the same way in a 12. I have a high self esteem now and if it got any higher my head would be stuck in the clouds. I know that this type of surgery can have an impact on a relationship but it depends on the individuals, their self perception, their level of communication and security within their relationship. Just my opinion. Good luck!

Any December '08 Bandsters?
Hey Holiday Hotties, I was approved for December 17, 2008. I'm beyond excited because I look forward to living healthier and being a more active parent to my children. I figure by the time the summer hits, I will be many pounds lighter and have even more stamina to chase behind my children. I'm going to make this band work for me.

Do you have a December Date?

Do you have a December Date?
Hey December Bandsters, I haven't gotten a date yet but my dr told me it would be before the year is out. We expect approval from my insurance by the end of next week. I'm trying to beat having to pay another copay with my insurance and my Dr has been very understanding in getting my paperwork in a timely manner. I look forward to being banded no matter what day of december it is. Good luck to everyone else.

Visit with Psych
I truly appreciate your reponse. I agree that I got a lot of education about the lap band when going for my psych consult. When I went to the grocery store last friday I did take longer thoroughly reading nutrition facts. I am in this for the long haul. Although my schedule is busy, I am prepared for this transition. What little family I have down where I live are ready to help and I graduate college in the spring. My boss is supportive and my company gives me 40 paid days off per calender year. I have plenty I have plenty of time to focus on my weight loss. I appreciate you adding in even more things that will entail me successfully losing this weight. I joined this forum to get as educated about this process as possible becauase I don't know anyone personally who has had it. I have a friend who works in the office I am going thru for the surgery and she helps alot about technical stuff but no 1st hand experience.
