Cincinnati Bandsters
Dr. Curry was $13,000.00. That includes two years of fills and followup with his dieticians. I think they have a great program and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Hey My husband and I are getting ready to fly on a trip. My doc says to not eat on the flight because of tightness in the air. Does anyone know if you are allowed to drink?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Hey everyone! I didn't know there was a 50's and older forum! I've had one fill and have hit a bit of a plateau, but the good thing is that my workouts are consistant and I am hanging in there to bust this plateau! Would love to hear from any other bansters of any age!

afraid I think my band has slipped
I also would not worry about slippage yet either, it does sound like you are too tight. My doc says slippage happens mostly later, like a year or so out and if you don't follow the rules. I know that when you are too tight you can't even swallow your spit. I would just wait until the doc sees you! Hang in there

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Love your idea for the star bucks protein shake! I had some old medifast to use up and tried the pumkin spice recipe on the side. It is very good, just use one envelope of the vanilla mix and all Cinnamon, and pumkin pie spice to this.....it would also work with vanilla protein powder, also vanilla pudding with protein powder, Good luck

How do you determine if you've eaten enough?
Hey Maribelle! I was banded by Dr. C about two weeks ago. I just got back from my meeting with the dietician. Although I have not had my first fill yet, I am still trying to eat just about a cup of food each time. And I am also writing down everything. My hardest thing to do is make sure that I get enough water. I am still eating a lot of chili and I am trying to be careful so that I don't stretch out my new stomach! I hope that helps. I figured I paid enough for this that I am going to try to make it work! Good luck susan

Things To Have On Hand Post-Op??
I agree with all the above. But I also loved warm chicken broth, yogurt tasted good after a few days. I think it is important to take the medicine around the clock also, and make sure you have a heating pad for the gas pains. I had Isopure frim GNC to make sure I was getting enough Protein. I am one week out now and still use these things. Also, I tried to sip Water all the time to keep hydrated! And orange Crystal Light. Good Luck susan

Anyone older than me?
Hey Marti! It sounds like you are doing great! Congrats on the 14 pounds. I have lost about 18 counting my pre-surgery diet! I am one week out of surgery and feeling great! I have learned from another bandster to put my fork down between bites. It is harder to eat slow, I am having trouble with drinking slowly, I have always been a gulper! By the way I am from Stockton, now living in the midwest! Good luck to you on your fill! Susan

Anyone older than me?
You will do fine. I am One week out and just stopped taking my meds. I feel great because of the weight I am losing. If you just stick with what the doc tells you, get plenty of rest, you will do fine. I am 52 and I can't believe how much better my feet and knees feel for the weight I lost before and now after surgery. Just keep your eye on the goal ahead and keep reminding yourself it will be all worth it! susan

Compiling A List...Please Contribute!
Hi salome I just had my band a week ago today. I think the biggest thing that had helped me was the heating pad. I did not have much stomach pain but I did get the shoulder pain. Just remember to take it easy the first week. I pretty much laid around and I also stayed up on my meds, so I was never in pain much. I read and reread the rules of the lapband, and I had all the necessary things on hand. I also liked warn chicken broth afterwards, and was so happy that I was losing weight that I was willing to try anything. Good luck to you and you will do fine! susan

Any September Banders?
Hi! The food choices are hard. I have puree a lot of chili and black bean soup. This morning I added protein powder to oatmeal and that was good. At dinner I have been pureeing sweet potatos with cottage cheese and, I wanted the natural vitamins in the sweet potato. We have a dietician with our surgeon who really gives good ideas. I'll pass on more if you like! Now just to get rid of this shoulder pain!

Cincinnati Bandsters
Hey Just banded this last week by Dr. Curry. I am a little weak from the less calories but decided after talking to the dieticians to track my protein and make sure I'm getting enough. I had a great experience as far as Dr Curry is concerned, his whole staff has been most helpful and I really feel like they give you all the tools to succeed. I lost 14 lbs in the pre-op diet, which I was afraid of, but Rebecca one of the dieticians gave me a pep talk about it and now I feel great. I think it just rethinking a few things and following the rules about eating and drinking! I am excited, I feel I'm on my way! Good Luck to you all! susan

Any September Banders?
Hey Nina I was banded 5 days ago. Just went and got the carnation instant breakfast. I think the chocolate is really good and feels u up fast. I would recommend it for the liquid diet after the surgery. Also I have had oatmeal and then puree it with a little milk and brn sugar Splenda. Good luck to you , my surgery went great and I am so glad I got it done! susan
