  1. Well, after twice daily calls to APRA to organise release of super funds to pay for the band I just found out today that I'm approved. Surgery is now a go ahead for Tuesday, 4th November (Melbourne Cup Day here in Australia). I have a dietician and surgeon appointment tomorrow. I must admit, as soon as I'd hung up from being approved the nerves set in instantly. AM I READY FOR THIS!!!! I have to send the APRA letter away to my super fund for the cash but my fund tells me this should only take 5 days. Tight I know. So if the cash doesn't come through by 3rd November (the day I have to pay for everything) I'll have to max out 3 of my credit cards to pay for it. Here's to a thinner me. T
  2. Congrats. Like you, I have the same dramas with APRA. I'm still waiting on a response. My surgery date is 4 November. I had to send them through some further costings figures and have gone back to the end of the pile which they tell me will take 24 days for someone to relook at my application. I phoned them AGAIN this morning to see if I can get fast tracked and will find out tomorrow afternoon if this is the case. I really don't want to reschedule everything now that I'm so close. I see Dr Copp and the dietician this Friday (17th) and will go ahead with those appointments even if I have to reschedule. If I have to hopefully I will be like you and get a date not too far out. All the best with the pre-op.
  3. Just wondering if any Australian people have recently submitted applications to APRA for release of super funds. I put my application in on 12 August and still haven't got a response. I have now started to phone every day. Had a small glitch this week with some wording but resubmitted the relevant letter yesterday and after speaking to them today it hasn't reached my file yet. Just wondering once APRA approve how quickly will they provide information to super fund for release of funds. My surgery is in 3 weeks (4 November) and I'm starting to stress that the money won't be through in time.
  4. Hope it comes through in time. I too am waiting on a response from APRA - my surgery date is 4th November with Dr Copp at St Andrews in Ipswich. I forgot my paperwork at work today so I'll phone APRA tomorrow and see if I have a result yet. I too will be disappointed if it doesn't come through. Stay strong.
  5. Granny, well done on making the decision to proceed. Its a tough thing to do. I am also going through Dr Copp. I have a surgery date of 4 November 2008 and my first appointment with him and the dietician is on the same day - 17 October. I saw his nurse on my first visit. I am being done in the private hospital at Ipswich.
  6. Hi rjmjo, Hope its still going well for you. I'm actually from Ipswich and am using a local dietician there, Margaret Riedy.
  7. Well done. Hope all goes well. Will wait for your post to see how it went.
  8. Thanks. I am trying to fund this through my Super Fund but if that fails will pay for myself as I am not in a Health Fund. Bit expensive $16,500, but I figure its worth it.
  9. I've just had my first appointment and already have a band date of 4 November 2008 being done by Dr Copp in Ipswich at the St Andrews Hospital. Would love to hear from anyone else who had/is having Dr Copp do their surgery. I have been reading everything on this site to try and prepare myself for what's to come. I'm 170 cms tall and weigh 131.5kgs (about 10kgs more than I thought I did). COMPLETE SHOCKER. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Thanks
