  2. Hi, just wondering, i am also a nurse who does 12hr night shifts, my doctor told me to change shifts as doing nights is not compatible with the band and weight loss, have you heard of this as well ?
  3. Hey there, was just wondering if anyone knows, can you lie on your stomach (obviously once healed) or can you feel the port, just wondering if i'll ever be able to read my book like this in bed again
  4. hey restless monkey, how are you doing?? you feeling good?
  5. Wow great result!! You sound like your feeling great :thumbup:I havn't had it done yet, am waiting for a date, hopefully Sep/Oct, but from all I've read, it sounds like eat small potions of protein rich food, chew well, don't drink at the same time and up to an hour before or after a meal and exercise and you should be right
  6. Good luck Laura, hope you stay feeling so great!! I am waiting for my band, hopefully soon?? keep posting your progress :cursing:

Hi Elaine, I have just read your story in the paper, WOW, you have done fantastically well!
  8. 6 month diet   omg, am glad we don't have to do that here, the two week optifast one will be enough of a challenge for me, good on you guys you are doing great!!!
  9. sorry cant help you with the pics etc, i'm new too, now i'm addicted to reading everything on here!! and yes I agree the more I read the more worries I have about everything  like you I can't wait to get this done :biggrin2:
  10. Hi there, I have tentatively been told a date of either mid september or october and i'm thinking it will be october. Like alot of others I cannot wait and am hoping they will say september!! I feel all I have been doing since starting this process is having my last supper before the preop diet starts :crying: so need it soon :wink2:
  11. lol don't know about that but that is really interesting hehe, wish I was one of those too, I am not one of those people who are "addicted" to exercising!! I mean what is that all about
  12. Hmm I wonder why?? It has taken me ages to decide whether to get the sleeve or the band, have heard so many different things about each it is a hard decision to make, specially cause in NZ we don't really have insurance that covers this kind of thing so its all self pay and a huge expense its over $16,000 so feel like i need to be making the right decision
  13. Thanks for that it does make sense what you are saying, and most of the time I feel the same, then I read something on here and my rational thoughts go out the window. Bummer about the fatty liver, but at least you don't have to wait to long now, well good luck and keep me posted on how you go.
  14. Hi everyone, I havn't yet got a date, but have had all the pre appointments, just waiting for the team to have their meeting and decide when, probably sometime in October, am nervous and excited at the same time, I have been reading alot of the posts on this website and to be honest some peoples posts have just plain scared me , all the gas problems etc, I would love to know if people resume a somewhat normal?? life further down the track, though I am impressed with the results well done everyone!!
  15. Hi guys, Am not really sure what to do on these forums, i have been posting under the other NZ thread but wasn't too sure if thats the right way to do it so will give this a go As posted before, i am a bit confused as to how to come to the final big decision of whether to have the band or sleeve. I was postitive about having the band but have been reading a few things about the sleeve and a friend of mine is adamant she is getting the sleeve and I start to wonder maybe I should to. Reading the posts on these pages can be quite scary, there seems to be alot of ongoing issues with the band eg swallowing and the tight feeling people get, just wondering if someone that has had it for a while could post me back to tell me if it does get back to some sort of normality after a while or is it an ongoing thing. I dont have a date yet but have been for all my pre appointments and now just waiting to hear back, but will probably be sometime in October. Look forward to hearing from someone
  16. Thanks Tracey for the response. I am finding it all so confusing, I have been for all the pre appointments and now just waiting to find out a date, I am just finding it difficult making that final decision about which surgery to go for, I have been pretty positive about the band most of the way, then I read something or talk to someone about the sleeve and get all confused, wondering if I am making the right decision by going with the band (clear as mud). I have just trawled through this site, which is great, the American forums alot of people talking about reflux issues, and being unable to swallow alot of things, and it being a major struggle, has anyone on here found this too, also for those on here who have had it for a while now, how are you finding it, has life gone back to normal (ish)
  17. hey everyone, am new to this so am not too sure if this is going to go to the right place! I am in the process of getting a band, havn't got a date yet but have been for a few appointments and have got the psych this week, but am really excited and hope to get it done soon to be on my way to better days  It is quite scary reading everyones problems with the pre and post diet is it really that bad???? Also I havn't told anyone except for my mum and 1 of my friends that I am getting it done, what is the consensus on this?
