  1. I am so glad that you were able to get relief with the unfill. I am also glad that I was able to witness (from your posts) your dedication to your faith. Keep up the good work.
  2. Hey. The gas is moving. I have been trying to get up every 30 minutes and walk the hall of my house. Every time I do that, a little more gas comes up. I can't seem to burp when I feel like it, but when I walk it seems to force it's way out. I still feel really good considering I had surgery. How are you doing? I know you are glad that the third boob is going down. Maybe you won't look like an alien much longer:tt2:. I know that you are glad to have something other than jello and broth. I have to stay on Clear liquids until next week when I have my first post op appointment. I am not really feeling hungry anyway which is a good thing. I don't have trouble drinking though. Did your belly swell after you got home? When I left the hospital yesterday, it looked ok, but when I got up this morning, the area right below my breasts is so swollen. I look pregnant! Egads! :wink2: I can't wait to see how it looks in a few weeks. Let me know how you are going!
  3. I agree with Tamara. There is no way that I could go back to work that soon feeling this way. Although this is usually done laproscopically (sp?), it is still a major surgery on a very sensitive area. You don't want to over do it.
  4. That is good that you are putting your foot down. Who would ever think that a doctor that took the oath to first do no harm, would be willing to let you possibly harm yourself by going to back to a demanding job too soon! Since you are her rock, she should be concerned enough to want you back full strength. I hope everything works out well for you.
  5. I am so sorry. You really have been going through some tough times the last few days. I hope that you get better soon.
  6. I hope that you all are going well after your surgery. Let us know how you are as soon as you can!
  7. No problem at all. I am glad that I was able to ease some of your fears. You will do great on Monday! Definitely keep us posted of your progress. It really helps to know that there are other people that you can speak to about what is going on with this new life and actually have them understand.
  8. I am just working my way into day 2 of my banding. I felt wonderful yesterday. I really couldn't feel my incisions other than a slight twinge from the port site. This morning I am starting to get a little stiff. I am trying to make sure that I walk and stand straight. I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop myself. I hope that you continue to feel better and better each day.
  9. This is a question best left to your surgeon. Each doctor has their own requirements that really should be followed the way that they give them. Just give the doctor's office a call and ask. That way you will know for sure what they expect of you. Good luck!
  10. Since they did not put me on my metformin, the surgeon's office thought it would be best to talk to my PCP about when to stop that medicine since they have all of my information concerning my A1C scores and such. I was never actully diagnosed as diabetic. I have insulin resistance due to PCOS. When I talked to my PCP about it, she told me to make my last dose be two nights prior to surgery. She said we will reevaluate my blood sugar levels one month out, but that she didn't anticipate me needing the medicine any more by that time.:tongue2:
  11. I am home, and officially part of bandland!:wink2: I want to thank every person that prayed for those of us having surgery today. I got to the hospital at 9:45a.m. They took me back to the pre-op area within 5 minutes. I got undressed (they wouldn't allow me to keep on my panties). They started my IV fluids, antibiotics, anti-nausea medicine, and happy juice :tongue2:. They also gave me the blood thinner shot in my belly. They told me that I could expect to stay back there for a while since I was my surgeon's third and last patient of the day. I was back there for almost 3 hours before they took me to the O R. I SORT of remember getting on the table, but that is all. The next REAL memory was in stage 1 recovery. I asked the nurse if I had a band, and if they did any type of hernia repair. I didn't have a hernia (or if I did, he didn't repair it). I didn't have any pain. I dozed in and out for a little while there. I was then taken to stage 2 recovery. That is where they brought my DH back. I was required to drink 2 cups of Water and 1 cup of apple juice before I could leave. I asked to get up to start my walking. I was able to get up without any help. I made 4 trips around the room the first time. They called my surgeon to ask if I could have some Benedryl because the pain medicine was making me itch. He told her I could have it and go home at 5pm. All of the nurses talked about how well I was doing. I got dressed on my own. I am so shocked at how good I feel. I figure it must be some darn good drugs. I still have the motion sickness patch behind my ear. I figure I will leave it there since I am on clear liquids until next Thursday. I came home and changed into a night gown. I have only taken my pain medicine to keep the edge off. It is easier to keep the pain from coming than it is to stop it once it starts. I still don't have any gas pains or any real pain at all. My port incision kind of aches a little when I cough. I have been making sure that I get up and walk around the house. I don't try to run a marathon like I did at the hospital. The nurses just laughed at me because I kept walking around. I got up on my own several more times until time to leave. The nurse that pushed my wheelchair out of the hospital told me to enjoy my new life. I thought that was really nice. I came home and started on my fluids. I have not had a problem yet, and I am praying that I won't. Be blessed everyone.
  12. My doctor gave me Zofran for at home, but I was also given a complete cocktail of meds for this at the hospital including the patch behind the ears. You really might want to call your doctor again because the vomitting can also cause the stomach to get even more irritated. Also, you can dehydrate really quickly since you are not able to get your liquids down. I hope that you feel better soon!
  13. I really feel awesome:thumbup:. I am not really in any pain. I haven't had any gas pains. I did get right up and walked around a lot at the hospital. The only thing that has tried to be painful for a little bit is the spot where my port is. That incision is about an inch long. My other incisions are only about a quarter inch long. I don't even feel them. I felt so good in recovery that I had to ask if I was banded. I know that everyone is different with how they feel. It can be a combination of factors (your surgeon, tolerance to pain, etc). I can only hope that I continue to feel this good. I have heard that even though you feel good on day 1, that the next few days can be awful. I am crossing my fingers on that one. I hadn't heard about the person that was having trouble. I wish you and everyone else well.

I agree with you about people being too PC. Thankfully (or regretfully) I work with nothing but men. They tend to say what they want, when they want. At times, they forget that I am a woman with some of the stuff they talk about. It is usually funny stuff about their wives or girlfriends. I would hate for them (or myself) to constantly feel like they have to watch every word they say. That leads to such a stressful time for everyone.
  15. I hope you feel better soon.
  16. Apparently working for your doctor is a double edged sword. She knows about the recovery times and such. She isn't being concerned for you as HER patient. Instead, she is only thinking as your employer. Don't let her bully you.

    You are hilarious!
  18. I am sorry that you were rescheduled. October 16th will be here before you know it.
  19. Ouch. It does hurt, but that was so worth it.
  20. That sounds odd. I haven't heard of anyone being told that they were approved, but then the file sent in for review. Are you sure that they understood your question. It souds like they were telling you that they are actually still in the approval process. You might want to call them again (heck get on a first name basis if you have to), make sure that they understood that you wanted to know if your predetermination request has been approved. It can't hurt, and they are paid to be there to answer your questions. Good luck to you.
  21. I am so sorry that you were so sick, but glad that you feel better. I had a reaction after one of my previous surgeries. I didn't know if it was the pain or the medicine, so I started telling them ANYTIME I had surgery about that reaction. Today the gave me a cocktail of everything that they could. They put 2 or 3 medicines in my IV and a patch behind my ear. I also have a prescription medicine at home that disolves on my tongue. My surgeon's office called that one in just in case. They wanted me to avoid vomitting at all costs.
  22. You take that back! (said with a big pout) My "happy" drugs would never do anything to hurt me. It LOVES me. LOL I am going to get a SF popsicle right now. Thanks.

Big head, little body... that is such a funny visual!:bored: Enjoy the attention! I hope to get to that point one day!:smile2:
  24. Thanks Debbie. I can't believe it, but I don't feel bad at all right now. I know that is subject to change at any time. I have been sipping all afternoon, but my mouth still feels full of cotton. Are there any tips for that?
  25. I was really scared too. I figure as long as I stay on top of my medicine, I should be ok. I am so surprised at how well I feel. I normally wake up in tears from the pain. This time I could even tell if I had been cut.
