  1. Thanks Arabesque , surely it will be that and not problems from the non alcoholic fatty liver disease .x
  2. thanks Catwoman , I'm hoping it's just that x
  3. Hi liveaboard , I don't know .I was a bit shocked to get the call as it was past docs opening hours one evening .I couldn't take in much as I don't know much about the tests .Tomorrow I have a whole host of blood tests being done plus a urine test .It's good that you are AOK though .He put me on iron tablets too because I was a bit low which is pretty normal I think .I just did my Leukocytes now and they are normal .Hopefully , all will have settled again , it's probably just the surgery .
  4. Hi sleevers , I had my blood tests checked post operatively as is the norm .I received a phone call from my G.P. to tell me the liver ones had come back looking not within normal levels .He said he was writing to my Surgeon to ask what my pre-surgery levels were in comparison to the ones just done BUT if they were the same , I should never have had the operation . He told me to take it easy , try not to worry and I have them retested tomorrow . Meantime the Surgeon hasn't replied to his request for the pre-op blood tests ,and I am a bit concerned .When I asked the surgeon what my liver looked like after the surgery (I knew I had a non alcoholic fatty liver ,it was discovered years ago and put down to all the meat I ate on the Atkins diet .I don't drink ) but the Surgeon said my liver was thin .No mention of rippling fat on it .I haven't got yellow skin or eyes , but on the dipstick wee test my leukocytes are off the chart , no bilirubin , but occasionally blood .I have a rash on both sides of my body , below my breasts and round to the side (not boob rash ). Anyone got any thoughts ? or experiences ? many thanks X
  5. Bayougirl - you may be right - or maybe she did and she loved her new thin body .I'm just saying that for me to go that skinny at 66 , it would be very ageing and I'd look unhealthy .It's great to be more mobile and fitter ,I appreciate how we're all different with different goals .
  6. I didn't see any excess skin ! her face was sagging .You have no idea how her health or weight was before surgery either .Fortunately I don't worry about how people look at me .I'm sorry you're not happy that I'm happy - but it won't keep me awake at night
  7. Oh do give over - I said nothing to that lady to imply shaming of any kind .I smiled and nodded at her , if that's a sin I'm a sinner . Not everyone wants to be rail thin .I'm one of them .I've improved my health and have no need to constantly be worrying about what the scales may say .This a forum for opinions isn't it ? then let people state them without talking about what you think this unmet person may or may no be feeling . Thanks to everyone who gets it , thankfully you are in the majority .
  8. When I went to my 6 week post op consultation ,I happened to sit in close proximity to a woman who had also had the Gastric Sleeve .She thought she looked wonderful - I thought she looked terminally ill ."I'm nearly at my wedding weight " she said proudly .I smiled and said nothing .She was the opposite of how I wanted to look .Her hair was thin and lack lustre , her skin sagging and dull .I listened in horror as she explained she was still trying to lose weight .I thought she summed up the very look I never wanted to have .Her slimness did nothing to inspire me .So I am 3 months post op .I can now walk freely , breathe better ,and I fit into my favourite jeans .I am not at my ideal BMI but if I don't lose further weight ,I'll be content .I eat more healthily and do more . So I suppose that is my story and I'm happy with it .
  9. Hi , I had a sleeve and hernia repair at the same time .The repair was meant to be the end of reflux , however it is back with a vengeance .I had to go to the hospital the pain grew so bad .Tonight it was unbearable again and I am back on Esomeperazole - I should have known it wouldn't cure it .Apparently it is the curse of the sleeve .Oh well , at least I can now walk freely now and I am very grateful for that ! good luck x
  10. Thanks ! I have just bought some Benefiber sticks as it sounds like they are gentle but do the trick .
  11. I am having real problems .Had surgery 17 th August and it's been hell trying to go .The softener does nothing .Dulcolax gives me awful pain , fibre like Lepicol is too harsh .I am eating lots of liquid veggies and drinking lots but it just comes to a grinding halt ?
  12. You must have heard of Oatabix , it's just like Weetabix only made from oats .Cottage Pie is just minced beef with mashed potato on top .I have the same problem every time I go to the USA ,some things just baffle me .
  13. Well I spoke to the Dietitian last night and there are things I am allowed that I haven' been having eg scrambled egg , Oatabix , Cottage Pie , mashed banana and then 2 weeks later bread sticks , crackers , hummus , bran flakes etc so I have got a lot more variety .She ok'd the cottage cheese and the mashed tuna for clarity .It's so nice not to just be on shakes and soup !
  14. This is me - you sound like me .x
  15. I haven't eaten steak and chips and a pint of beer !! I've had cottage cheese - which is allowed !! and mashed tuna .Calm down people .
  16. Mushy tuna and cottage cheese aren't really that solid .I see my surgeon at the end of the month and speak to my dietician today .I just wondered how others a month in were faring / eating ? thanks X
  17. Hi All , was on the liquid diet for 2 and a half weeks pre surgery and now I'm one month post surgery so I decided to "eat " something to see if I got that full feeling or near full feeling .I had some cottage cheese and was still starving , so I ate some tuna -mashed down .Nope - I didn't feel full or near full ,I could have eaten the whole can .Anyone else felt like this ?
  18. OK thanks guys , I will just walk for now x
  19. My G/P put me on Amlodipine but my consultant took me off it as it makes swollen feet worse .I am on duiretic but I still have swollen feet .
  20. Hi all , I am 4 weeks post op .I've never been a great walker but I have always done stretching exercises like sit ups , leg lifts , toe touching etc even when I was mega large .My surgeon isn't seeing me till the end of the month , does anyone else do exercises yet ? I had a hernia repair too . thanks !
  21. I got some cream from Amazon - it's a cross between talc and a lotion .I have also been using body cloths (or flannels as we call them in the UK ) under my boobs too , it seems to help , thanks !
  22. Thanks ,it's probably sold in the US , but I'll try the web x
  23. I still have the under boob rash going on , and it's been over a week .I am going insane as it's spreading .I went to the Pharmacy and they gave me anti fungal cream - it hasn't helped .I am leaving my bra off and have placed cotton towelling under them ,so skin doesn't touch skin .I am back on the triple antibiotic cream but I'm starting to think I may need a course of antibiotics .Help !! Thanks
  24. NOTEASIER - well explained .It's just great to have somewhere to off load when it all gets a bit much .I'm not looking for answers , my situation , like most others , is complicated ,by family , religious beliefs ,many things .
