There's only one brand in the UK that tastes good to me - Longley's .Funnily enough it's the only brand our dogs will eat too !!

    Wegovy vs bariatric surgery

I'm not taking any weight loss pills after giving it some thought .I have gained about a stone , but I'm not unhappy with that .I'm almost done with my dietitian and almost at the 2 year mark .I plan to exercise more and watch what I eat .It's still been worth it for me .

    Wegovy vs bariatric surgery

Froufrou - this where I am now .18 months post sleeve and my appetite is back and I am gaining weight .It started with stress when my sister became very ill , and now I am considering asking for Wegovy as I don't want it to climb further .I've done a lot of reading about the sleeve ,and it's pretty common for weight gain to occur between 12 months -18 months .I'll see what my doctor says ,I am hoping it will help me .

    Gaining Weight

SS, caring is so hard .My hub is 12 years younger than me ,I didn't see this coming .I try to stay close to my faith , and we've moved into Sheltered Housing as I may need carers for him soon . Thanks for sharing X our weather doesn't do much for lightening your mood , looks like more flooding .I have been good today , no biscuits or treats .One day at a time .....X
  6. Hi All , I am definitely gaining weight .I have been under a lot of stress and started eating low sugar biscuits .I still can't eat hot food and still get sick if I eat too much /too soon have liquid after food .Does anyone else identify with this ? I feel like I've fallen off the wagon and not sure how to get back on .I definitely want to eat more .I'm 20 months post surgery and feel like I'm slipping back .Husband is quite ill , we've just moved and facing financial difficulties .Obviously I'm comfort eating , not sure how to stop ?

    Gaining Weight

Hi All , thank you very much for your replies .Fred - I do pray , I was praying last night , it does help thanks .Ara - I agree walking would be useful but it is pouring with rain here in the UK , but as soon as I can , I think that will become my regular go to destresser .It's awkward because I'm the carer for my husband , and he can't walk far at all .However , once he's sleeping ok I can go and walk and stay in touch by phone .I have to get back to that mindset Big Guy and Lily , of finding other ways of coping with stress than eating , will give it a go x
  8. When I went to my 6 week post op consultation ,I happened to sit in close proximity to a woman who had also had the Gastric Sleeve .She thought she looked wonderful - I thought she looked terminally ill ."I'm nearly at my wedding weight " she said proudly .I smiled and said nothing .She was the opposite of how I wanted to look .Her hair was thin and lack lustre , her skin sagging and dull .I listened in horror as she explained she was still trying to lose weight .I thought she summed up the very look I never wanted to have .Her slimness did nothing to inspire me .So I am 3 months post op .I can now walk freely , breathe better ,and I fit into my favourite jeans .I am not at my ideal BMI but if I don't lose further weight ,I'll be content .I eat more healthily and do more . So I suppose that is my story and I'm happy with it .
  9. Just wondered how many of us were over 65 when we got our sleeves ?I was 66 and age didn't seem to be a problem .
  10. I have one every 3 months .I got called into have mine and they wouldn't do it because they said there had been a mistake- it was 10 days too early .I asked her to double check with a doctor but she wouldn't so I have to go back next week .Would my body really know it was a bit early ? I couldn't see the harm .

    Vit B12 shots

They called me and said it was due - but they wouldn't do it when I got there !!
  13. Well a bunch of us were going to break in and get you out of that prison , 'cos we couldn't couldn't send a bariatric patient a big pie with tools in 😉 Glad you are safe home and hope you heal quickly x
  14. I would be feeling very insecure right now in your position . I agree with Summerseeker , if you're not on a drip , how can you stay hydrated ? I haven't had a bypass and freely admit I know nothing of them , but I can certainly understand your worry and unhappiness for the situation you are in .Please let us know how you are and I hope you see a doctor soon who will relieve your concerns x

    Reaching out for support

Yes I definitely know what you mean .I am very stressed at the moment and have resorted to eating low sugar biscuits to comfort myself .I am dreading getting weighed as I'm sure I will be heavier .
  16. Hi all again , I think you Linda top the list so far ! yes it is great being able to walk better and get off the sofa unaided good luck x
  17. I thought I would have , but I haven't .But I am worried about my sister who went on a normal diet(no surgery ) ,as she's got lots of hanging loose skin on her belly .Is it safe for her to leave ? I'm 67 and she's 70.
  18. fed-up

    No Loose Skin

Thanks all , that has put my mind at rest .
  19. fed-up

    No Loose Skin

Safe for her to keep it all stuffed into her girdle and tights .I was worried that she'd catch it with her nail , (she has very bad arthritis in her hands ) and some of the skin might rip and be a cause of infection .

    Liquids with food

I vomit if I have liquid straight after food .

    So so angry!!!!!

Hi , I feel really sorry for you .I know how awful GERD is, it drives you nuts - especially at night .I had GERD before I had my sleeve done last year BUT I also had a hernia repaired ,and it was the hernia that gave me GERD .So my sleeve /repair solved that problem .Surely your Doctor must have some idea why this is still happening to you , after the second op ? I'd be so gutted if it was me .All that having to sleep sat up , chugging pills and Nexium all the time , the repetitive swallowing ,and acid coming up your throat - it's no laughing matter .I hope you get it sorted .Please post your progress ,I'd be interested to know x

    Liquids with food

I got told the same thing too - never .That's what the dietician said .It's such a pain if you are out with friends , you can either order a drink OR food, but not both .I usually end up with just an iced latte !
  23. Hi all , I am 6 months out , on Bariatric Pal Multivitamin One chewable plus 45mg iron tablet , but it's still not doing it .I only had the tests done yesterday and first thing today the doctor texted and said you are very low on iron .She told me to get in touch with my dietician for her to decide what's to be done , but I only have her e mail so don't know when she'll reply . Has this happened to you ? what did you get told ? please don't suggest including more fruit and veg or red meat into my diet , as I am struggling with "ordinary" food going down as it is . Many thanks for reading x
  24. Hi , I just got my 6 months bloods and my serum urea level is above range 8.6mmo/L - it's above the higher reference limit .I know we're all devouring a lot of protein , but I'm concerned about my kidneys and this high urea reading .Does anyone know anything about this ? I've tried to look it up and it just says too much protein can cause high urea levels and kidney problems .Worried now, thanks .
