  1. Hello, I had my lap band surgery on October 17th by Dr. Ortiz. I would do it all over again. He was wonderful. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I felt safe and secure in Mexico. I am now almost 3 weeks post opt now and things are progressing just fine. So far I'm down 25 pounds and looking forward to my first fill. I hope this helps. Going to Mexico was a good choice for me. Don't be afraid. Surgery for me was a breeze. You can email anytime you want at shadowland1026@yahoo.com I'll answer any questions you might have. Thanks, Diane

  5. I really wanted Dr. Ortiz, but he is not available on Sept 26. They suggested Dr. Martinez. Lori said that he is just as good as Dr. Ortiz is. I haven't seen any posts on this site about Dr. Martinez. That's why I started this thread.
  6. Looking for anyone who has had their lap band surgery done by Dr. Martinez at the obesity control center in tj.
  7. What did you mean when you said fatty liver? and had to have another surgery date?
  8. Hi , Noticed you are from R I. I was born in Providence. Where do you live? My mom, brother and sister live in Warren. I was there in March. Glad to hear your surgery went well. From the time you decieded to do the surgery. How long did it take you to have the lap band surgery done?? How much did the whole thing cost?? Reason asking is I'm going to be a self pay. Insurance co said no. I have been saving for awhile now for the surgery. Won't be long now. Have you had any problems since it was done?? Any problem with food getting stuck. I'm afraid of that. gotta run, talk to you later
  9. Carrie, I am thinking about lap band surgery. I don't weigh 200 lbs. But my BMI is almost 35. You see I am only 4' 11 and I weigh 170. My back and legs hurt all the time and so do my feet. I have high blood pressure and shortness of breath sometimes. It's because I'm so short. If I was much taller then my weight wouldn't be a problem. I do need the procedure. And I don't think it should be determined by weight alone. My insurance won't pay. Not fat enough, So I will be a self pay. I'm so tired of the yo yo dieting that doesn't work for me.
  10. hi, I too am considering the lap band surgery. I've been doing alot of research too, but think I'm going to Mexico for my surgery. Dr. ariel ortiz seems to be one of the best and I'm a self pay, my insurance won't cover. So, I'm still checking on things. Is there a dr. in pa that will do your surgery??

  12. hi, I am seriously considering lap band surgery, but aliitle bit fearful of the surgery part. They say it is really safe, but still have fears. Especially about going out of the US. I have researched Dr. Ortiz and I think he has a very good reputation with other lap band patients. Has anyone out there had their surgery done by this Dr?
