Upper Gi Results
I have never had an upper Gi done and am getting one tomorrow. I have a feeling there is something wrong with either the port or band itself. Will the person doing the Gi discuss it with me or am I stuck not knowing for like a month until the surgeon can get me in? Will I see the scan as it is happening?

More Than Half Of Weight Gained Back
I think that's what I really need to do is go back to post op diet. Honestly, I don't even remember what I did really.

More Than Half Of Weight Gained Back
For the first year I watched all of my portions. I would eat less than half of the food when we ate out. I also didn't have hardly any sugary foods. After my pregnancy I went back to bigger meals and the sugar. I have a huge sugar addiction. I try to cut it out and after a couple days spiral out of control again. I don't ever feel full. I just feel like I can always eat.

More Than Half Of Weight Gained Back
I feel like such a failure! I have now gained back more than half of my original weight lost back . I have been out of control for a long time now. I just looked back and in September I was planning to be back to plan. Now 7 months later I've gained more weight and still not losing. I have an appointment for May 21 to get a fill. I honestly feel like I have no idea what to do anymore. I need a step by step plan again. When I just try to eat when hungry, I just eat eat eat. I go from eating plan to plan with no avail. Any ideas how to get back on track before the dr appointment?

Getting/Being pregnant after being Banded
Hey Ladies! I haven't been on the boards in a LONG time, but it is nice to be back. I was needing a little encouraging. But, first, I will encourage you. I was banded January 08 and Pregnant December 09, and had my little man September 2010. I had lost almost 100 pounds at that point . I had never had any additional fills, so I'm not sure how "full" my band was, but I did not have any take on. I am pretty much at the point where I can eat "anything" again. There were no problems at all with the band and being pregnant. I was 23 when I got banded and am 25 now, this is baby #1 and wanting to start having babies was a major reason for me getting banded also. Well, now my LO is 6 months old and I am up about 20 pounds from my lowest weight I am really needing to get back on track. I gained 30 pounds with him and only lost 10 after. Anyways, I wont talk about my current struggles here...I just wanted to let you know that you can definitely be pregnant while banded and have a healthy pregnancy. I did not gain "too much" weight either so I was happy all around.

Overeating and feeling SOO uncomfortable!
A few times now in the last week I have eaten so much that I can barely even move around! I am well over a year post op and am 5.5 months prego. I eat and feel fine and then when I get up I realize "OH BOY". This pain/discomfort lasts for HOURS! By the time I am hungry again it still hurts so I have to be really picky about what to eat at that point. Just needed a vent I guess. I know it is wrong of me to be eating this way and have completely recognised the problem and told my hubby about it. I just like to check back in with the board once in a while

Hard to explain Pain
For the last month or so I have been having a weird pain in my left side about one inch from the top of my rib cage (right near largest incision). I have never had a fill or seen my band in flouro so I have no idea where things are placed. The pain is like a sharp pain usually about 30 minutes after I eat. Just a really uncomfotable feeling. It feels like I can feel my whole band, which I am sure is not too possible, but there is a hard area and i can follow it with my fingers and there is an area where it feels like the tube is. I have not seen my Dr since Sept and am now 18 weeks pregnant. So, I probably can't get an xray. Has anyone had this type of pain? It is def. not heart burn or anything like that. Does anyone know if you have HMO if your referral expires for a Dr if you don't go for awhile? I want to get a check up but because it is so long I am wondering if I am still covered by insurance. Thanks for the input!

No fill ever??
I don't think that he was saying YOU won't need a fill, just letting you know not to worry about it yet. I had my surgery in January and have not had a fill. Unless I start gaining weight, I don't think I am going to get one! Good luck!!!

Anxiety after surgery?
I was wondering if anyone else has problems with anxiety since surgery? I have been banded since Jan 12th and have lost 85 pounds. I have been having a lot of anxiety in the past few months and some weeks it is EVERY day! Today was one of the worst days in a long time. I was in Disneyland and all excited to get into the park and had a mental list of all the things to accomplish before going home at 2pm. Well, at 10am it started. We rode two rides and had to quit. I went full on attack at about 11 and it has been going on with little relief for almost 10 hours. The first 6 hours were MISERABLE. I have an appointment with my regular doctor and hope that he can help, on Thursday. Anyone else have these "issues"?

cash patients-cost of fills?
I have never had a fill, but when I thought I might lose my insurance I called to find out how much my Dr. charges. $450.00! GEEeeezzzEEE! I have heard that sometimes insurance no longer covers fills because they don't think it is necessary after a certain point...so, hopefully if/when I need one, they will cover it!

Bandsters in Their 20's
hey guys, I am 23 and was banded on jan 12th, 2009. I am down 78 lbs and have not yet had a fill. I probably could be down a bit more weight, but I have slacked off here and there. I pretty much eat whatever I want (just not nearly as much) and enjoy that I can go out and not feel left out when it comes to food. No preop diet for me and I was insurance covered so that was a huge blessing! I'm not on the boards too much any more but feel free to email if you would like (mrsjesslarrew@gmail.com) or facebook too Jessica Larrew. I don't really talk about the band on FB but u can private msg me

Every1's watchin what i eat & i hate it!
At first I mostly got "OMG you are NOT eating enough". "That can't be healthy". I no longer work with the people I worked with when I started this journey so most of the people I eat with are either so used to the way I eat or have no idea about the band so they don't say anything! But, Jennifer is right. Next comes, you can't lose THAT much more weigt. When my best friend was no happy with my goal weight of 145 I asked how much she weighed? 135. So I asked why was it ok for her to weigh less than my goal? Just because she is used to me being so much bigger doesnt mean I can't/shouldn't be as small as other people! Sorta put it into perspective for her! I think one thing...when you say my goal is 70 more lbs people can not put that into perspective as much as I want to weigh 145. Anyways...it will get easier...and people will eventually stop saying stuff as your eating gets more normal and they are just used to it...

I want a spray tan...But, I'm really self consious
I am really wanting to get a spray tan today because I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and I am wearing a dress (I have not worn one in a long time!) so I want my legs to be tan. They spray the tan on you by a person, not standing in the box...so I feel like really self consious. Are the used to seeing all types of body shapes/sizes? I'm sure they are right? not just skinny minnies tan right? Please help ease my nerves...or let me know if I am right and am going to be very uncomfortable! Thanks!

sooo worried
One thing that happens a lot of the times is we spend so much time on the boards before surgery just trying to find out every little thing. Then we have surgery and come back for a little while to talk to others who just had surgery too. Lastly, you no longer really need to come back because things are going so well you don't even think about it. But, if something goes bad, you immediately come back to the board... I hope that made some sense. My point is that a lot of people who have no problems at all (like myself after 7 months) don't come back to the boards all that often, just because there is nothing to talk about  So, don't worry too muh!

OMG, that HURT!
I like to eat the toppings off of pizza and I will usually eat the crust from one piece. I havent ever had the regular dough though. I am not enjoying it much lately though, because I do not lose after those days.

What happens when you overeat?
Sometimes a get a headache if I eat too much. I have also felt like I can not even swallow the bite that was in my mouth. I have never PBd or thrown up (Thank God) I HATE throwing up!

Does anyone feel like life with the band is too hard?
Things will get much better eating wise later on. The first few months you are more limited on what you are eating...After that, I was pretty much able to eat anything I wanted. When I go out to eat with friends/family they barely notice me eating different than others (at least I think they don't). They just joke that I ALWAYS have leftovers. As you go on, even you will feel "normal". You will think you are eating WAY too much, but in reality, it is the right amount for you! I am almost 7 months out now and feel great!

Need help to get back on the band wagon
Are you sure this is right? I don't know anyone who can consistently lose 5lbs a week.

Why do we have to wait 15-30 minutes after drinking before eating?
I've never heard not to drink before eating. I always drink right before so that way I don't find myself thirsty right after eating. If your dietitioin told you not to worry about it, why do you think it is an issue?

Finally got Victoria's Secret!!
I can't wait to be in VS for the first time ever in my life...well, for a bra and panties! I have the lotions and purfumes...

How often do you weigh yourself?
I too am a daily weigher. It helps me to know if I did something wrong the day before. I don't think that it is necessarily a bad thing as long as you are not expecting to daily lose weight. Sometimes there is no loss for a few days, then one day there is a 2 pound loss.
