To tell or not to tell????
AWWW Thanks so much for all this support. When I wrote this post last night, I was still crying. I know I want this and I know I want to do this. My mom says she'll be supportive, "I am just scared for you". I've tried explaining to her that it outpatient/laproscopic and to look in lapband.com for more information. Now she wants to know if she can come up the day of the surgery. My hubby says he thinks she would only make me more nervous. What do you all think? Thanks again Lapbandtalk family. Kelli

To tell or not to tell????
Ok here's my drama. I'm a 31 year old woman, married with 2 children. I weigh in at 257lbs. I have been overweight my whole life and obese the last 13 years. I am having lapband the 22nd. I just told my mother. She was very upset. She doesnt think "you're not that big". Hello!!!!! I am seriously considering telling NO ONE else. Not even my grandma. WOW!!!! I had hoped my family would be supportive. My husband, my sister and my in-laws are all very supportive. Any suggestions? EEK! Thanks in advance. Kelli

A Warning
Been there, not fun. I had an allergic reaction to Avelox an antibiotic. Thank gosh not to your severity. I did have the hives all over and swelling. Thank goodness, mine went down after about 48-72 hours. I will say a prayer that yours goes away quickly. Kelli

Pre-Op eating behaviors vs. Post-Op eating behaviors
Thanks Jodi for your advice. I am right there with you, Lauren. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I am doing better at avoiding carbs, but it is hard. It has been a life long obsession for carbs and sweets for me. Good luck to you Lauren.

Protein Drinks
Our dietician recommended 70-90g for the first 6 weeks. Then you can alter it to fit your specific needs then. Not sure how much after first six weeks. I'm sure with eggs and meats you are getting close to that. I hope.... Good luck.

Boss problems..
I totally understand! I work for a doctors office and there is no one to cover for me the week after my surgery. I put my foot down! I am taking the week after my surgery off!!!! My health is too important to pop back into work and get to feeling bad. You try so hard to get approved for this. 1 year I've been working on this! I am doing it! Cover person or no cover person! Stick to your guns!!!!!!

UGI Series/How Long?
I had mine today! It was quick and painless. I had an upset tummy the rest of the day, but I kept drinking water and tea and it finally got all the barium out. Don't be surprised if you have a few loose stools after. I know TMI, but its true! Good luck, just remember it is all part of the journey. kelli

Blood work question
No fasting required. I have been drawing blood for 13 years. Never had a doctor send me someone with a thyroid test and make them fast. I agree with the other person definately need a t3 and a free t4 done for a truer picture of the thyroid's function. Good luck. Kelli
