  1. I have heard that some people fast prior to a fill. Then go on liquid diets after for 24-48 hours. My doc says 24 hours post fill, soft diet. I just wonder if I would have better restriction if I go in without a full tummy. They have never given me any instruction on what to eat or not eat before a fill. Thanks for your advice.
  2. I'm at 5cc in a 10 cc band now. I can eat whatever I want. I try not to. but....sometimes I do. I am going in for a fill today, so hopefully I will get some restriction again.
  3. Reading suspense novels! And checking out this website. And trying new protein powders all the time. Better than eating I would think.
  4. I can totally relate to this. I have had PCOS for years. Now that I am banded, I have been able to stop the metformin. I am on b/c pills for the rest of the hormone issues. I am feeling much better lately. I may consider having another child after I loose all the weight. I was able to get pregnant with Metformin and clomid. I have two healthy little girls. Which is amazing because at 18 they said I'd never have children. Thank God for modern medicine. Good luck ladies.
  5. I was 31! I wish I would have done it sooner! In my 20s, so I couldve enjoyed the 20s more! But watch out 30s, here I come! LOL!
  6. Thanks for this post! I am with you! I am close to a good amount of restriction, but not quite there. I am still able to eat quite a bit. I try not too. I have had a tough week or two trying hard to be "good". Hopefully when I have my next fill on the 30th, I will help be stick with the diet better. It is just soo hard without good restriction. I have horrible will power, that's why i'm here. Good luck Molly, keep us posted.
  7. I am averaging 4-8 lbs a month, so about 1-2 lbs a week. I still don't have great restriction yet, but hopefully I will have after the 30th. Thats when I have my next fill! Yeah.
  8. I will ONLY drink the matrix 2.0 chocolate, cookies and cream or the myoplex vanilla. The myoplex vanilla with a bit of peanut butter, is awesome! Love it! Like a peanut butter shake.
  9. I love the idea of peanut butter in the oatmeal. I will be trying that tomorrow am. I eat oatmeal almost every morning. I don't doctor it up much, just a bit of honey or splenda.
  10. I'm loosing about 5lbs a month, but I don't have a lot of restriction yet. I go for a fill on Monday. I bet I'll be in my sweet spot after that. Early on the weight flew off, now it is slower. But still 5 pounds a month is better than the gaining I was doing before the band.
  11. I am right in the middle of this now. I was taking a daily multiple for cvs pharmacy, I went and had my labs done and I was defiecent in vitamin d and vitmain b12. So I ordered the bariatric advantage vitaband vitamins. Already in a week of taking them i have more energy and feel better. If there is any way you can afford them, they really do help. I used part of my tax return and bought a supply for the whole year. Good luck to you.
  12. I have this situation. My doc says it happens. That's why they wait a month between fills. I got a fill bringing me up to 5cc in a 10cc band on 2-16-09. I started feeling some restriction this week. Two weeks after getting a fill. It was very interesting. Good luck to you.
  13. I had started taking a new birth control pill on Saturday. I think the irritation may be realted. I stopped taking it with my last dose on Sunday, by Monday night I felt drastically better. My doctor thought that maybe I was allergic to something in the pill and it was irritating my stomach and pouch. I feel much better today and should be back to 100% by the weekend. Strange how an allergic reaction can make you feel like that. Thanks for the response Jodi.
  14. Ever since Saturday, I've had an upset stomach. Which feels acidy. I've been taking my protonix and also tums. No relief. I've been eating very bland food and drinks. I can't seem to make the pain go away. Any ideas on what this is? No vomiting, some nausea, no diarrhea and no fever. I no longer have my gallbladder. Its just a constant burning pain in my right side, where my band and top of stomach would be, i guess.
  15. I know what you mean! I am so there with you all! I dropped a bunch really quickly in the beginning with the band and now it has slowed down dramatically. I am still down farther than i would have been without it. And I am getting closer to being under 200. I have bad days too, like last week when I was pmsing. LOL. really bad week! (-: Anyhow, keep up the good work! You will be rewarded in the end!!! Kelli
  16. I finally know what restriction feels like. I had my 3rd fill on monday for a total of 5cc. I am unable to eat as much as before. I feel fuller longer. I am still trying to train myself to slow down and chew, chew chew. Because now if I don't the restriction will make me feel bad. Bloated/over full. Uncomfortable.
  17. I am kind of in this stage too. I have restriction for the first time since I got my band in october 2008. It is very difficult to know how much to eat. I am very tight in the morning. So I usually can only get down 1/2 a yogurt. Then the afternoon is better. 1/2 cup of food at lunch. I just got my fill on monday, so if it gets any tighter I may have to have some removed. Hope we all get this thing figured out. The hardest thing for me is to slow down, at dinner. By the time dinner comes I am starving.
  18. I like the syntrax matrix brand. They have chocolate, cookies n cream, and vanilla. They are about the only ones I can tolerate. I like the cookies and cream the best. I think the muscle milk ones are ok too.
  19. I am having issues like this too. I have been spotting off and on for a few weeks. I have pcos and don't usually have periods. So it is strange. My gyn doesnt seem concerned. Let us know if you find out anything.
  20. Tried a gas-x? It's a possibility. Ever since my 2nd fill, I've been more gassy and need to take gasx every day. Let us know what happens.
  21. I take the generic centrum from cvs. They have buy one get one pretty often on that. I also get my chewable vitamin d there. On my omega I get that at vitaminshoppe.com. I get coromega. I like the plain orange. It doesnt taste bad and seems to get the job done. Best of luck.
  22. :confused:I'm interested to see the answer to this. I am also having a very similar reaction to my second fill. I am able to eat and drink, but I too am very gassy and somewhat crampy. No constipation here either. I am having a little bit of discomfort on my rt side, i'm guessing where my band is. I had that last fill too, but it got better. It is not bad enough to take tylenol, just a bit uncomfortable. Maybe this is restriction???? I have no idea. I am going to keep tabs on this post. Best of luck to you.
  23. I had my second fill on Monday the 19th of January. I feel some restriction. Thank God! I had my last fill 12-1, and had zero restriction for 6 long weeks. I'm so glad to see others who are around the same area of the journey. Good luck all!
  24. OMG! I'm worried for you. I said a prayer just a few minutes ago for you. I hope it is something simple like an unfill and then good to go. Best of luck, please keep us posted. By the way congrats on the wonderful weight loss and getting to goal!!!
  25. I took 10 days off, I felt so much better in the second week it was amazing. I don't think I could've made it back on the first week, too sore. I agree with the recliner comment. I lived in mine for a several days. Good luck.
