  1. Yes, I am very jealous! :ohmy:I am completely miserable that I cannot get any air out of my stomach! The only way I can get any relief and it's temporary is to lie on my left side, not completely lying down. But, wow! I really hope this goes away! I wouldn't wish this feeling on my worst enemy.
  2. Hi all, Since getting out of surgery on 07/07, I have noticed a pressure feeling at my diaphragm and the feeling of needing to burp really, really badly, but I can't get anything to come up. Is this due to swelling because of band placement and will it eventually go away? I have been trying to sip, sip, sip, but the pressure is really bothersome. Other than that no gas pains, no shoulder pains. Feeling okay other than needing to burp. I have also been taking the gas X strips, and have been moving gas the other way. Thank you so much, Paulette
  3. Hi all, I got home today. I arrived at the hospital at around 6:10 and waited for them to call me back. At 6:45, they called me back into the preparation area. I was weighed, asked a few questions, had the IV started and the anesthesiologist came in around 7 to talk to me. He was a really nice guy. Around 7:15 my surgeon came in to talk to me a little and told me he would send for me in about an hour. It was a little less than an hour and I was on my way. Oddly, through the whole process, I wasn't really nervous...until.....I got into the OR. I was wide awake. They inflated my air mattress to transfer me to the operating table. They were all bustling about here and there getting things ready. Putting on monitors, etc. Then my anesthesiologist said he was putting something in my IV, which I never felt take effect. Then he put a mask on my face and said to breath normally and I would be going into dreamland. I remember waking up being asked if I was in pain and to rate it. I think I said an 8 and my left collar bone was hurting soooooo bad. I could feel the incisions on my abdomen being a little painful. No nausea though. Thankfully!! I was in recovery about 45 minutes and then taken back to my room. All in all it wasn't a bad experience. I am having feelings of needing to burp and feeling a bit of pressure around my diaphragm, but have not needed any pain meds. I did use some of the morphine that was hooked up for a while. So far, though, my tummy is sore, but not real pain. It has never felt so good to pass gas though. Sorry (TMI) lol. Just wish I could burp!! I am just so excited to get all of this going and get healed. :smile2:) I hope the rest of my fellows 7-7 bandsters had and will continue to have a wonderful experience!! It is going to be a challenge though getting in 64 ounces of Water in a day. But trying hard to work on it. Hugs and can't wait to hear the rest of your stories!! Paulette
  4. Gosh, it's 1:11 a.m. and I have to leave at 5 a.m. to be at the hospital at 6 for my surgery at 8:15 a.m. I was so tired tonight, but just too excited to sleep!!! Not really nervous, but excited.! I can't believe the time is here. ) I'll post a surgery story when I am released on WEdnesday. Good luck to everyone else who is having surgery today and this month!!) Paulette
  5. Sounds like our surgeries are going to be very close! Mine is scheduled at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. I had my first bout of nerves just a few minutes ago. I have had several surgeries, but no matter how many you have, you still get a little nervous. Good luck to you :tongue_smilie:
  6. Hi, I am scheduled to have an IVC filter place in the a.m. and wondered do I stop having anything to eat or drink (mainly drink since I am on my 9th day preop diet) after midnight? My doctor's office and hospital didn't say anything about not having anything to eat or drink after midnight.
  7. Hi Stacey, Yes, I will be banded by Dr. G on Tuesday. Paulette
  8. Thank you restless, I have some of those plastic-type clog looking shoes that I wear a lot. I think those will be good. I don't have to bend over or anything. Thank you so much!
  9. Thank you so much! Yep, I forgot to put down a pillow and the sport bra!.
  10. Hi Krnpick, I was just curious as to how many carbs/protein your doctor has you on? I am day 8 of my liquid diet and except for the first day of having a headache, I have felt okay. My doctor recommends no less than 130 to 150 carbs per day and 50 to 60 grams of protein. I was just curious. I hope it gets better for you. It is definitely hard! Good luck to you, hon.
  11. Hi all, I'm being banded on Tuesday. I am compiling a list of necessities to take with me for an overnight stay. So far, I have: 1. Chapstick. 2. Tooth paste/tooth brush. 3. hair brush. 4. Video camera (I am documenting my journey on Youtube). If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know. :smile2:) Thank you, Paulette )
  12. Lisa, That is AMAZING!! Reading your post of losing 82 pounds gets me sooooo excited!!! Come on July 7th!! I can't wait!!
  13. Hi Poppet, Thank you for posting about that book, as I saw that the other day on Amazon and wondered if it would be worth it to get it. I will definitely check it out. I am about to be banded on Tuesday and will need some ideas on what to puree. My hubby got me a Magic Bullet on my birthday and just cannot wait to use it!! It'll be a while, but thank you again!
  14. Plain and simple, he is afraid you are going to slim down and leave him. He is afraid other guys will try and take you away. My husband is super supportive of my surgery, has been from day 1. But, every now and then he will say something that makes me think he is just a "little" scared that I am going to change after I lose weight. He tells me since I have been doing the preop diet, he is already noticing subtle changes. But, he's not telling me that I don't need to do this, because he knows this is something that I want and NEED. Don't stress too much about it. Go with what you want to do for yourself and do it for YOU!! I really, really wish I could have had this option at 21. I just turned 38 on July 1st. So, I envy ya there. ) Good luck hon.
  15. Hi Tessie, Thank you for posting that surgery story!! I wish you the best of luck with your band and your recovery. Remember, we are all here if you need to talk! :tongue2:)
  16. Awesome, Regina! I hope you have a speedy recovery!! :tongue2:) Keep us all posted!!1
  17. Ohhhh, I'm so excited for you SW!!!! Please do let us know how all goes!! :tongue2:)
  18. Yes, Carlinsmom!! ONe week to go!!! It's hard to believe that this time next week, I will be going over everything to make sure I have everything packed that I am going to take to the hospital with me. I am for sure bringing my laptop and camera so I can make another Youtube video!! My tummy is sooooo growling right now though LOL
  19. Hi Emilie! Thank you so much for responding!! Mine is 80/20 as well. I know my doctor charges 250 per fill, so I was a little worried I would have to change my doctor to a doctor who is closer and charges 87.00 for a fill. I guess I will find out when I go in for my first fill. But, I should think of one Aetna PPO would cover it, mine should too; 95 for a fill isn't so bad, but 20 is definitely better. I just hope this week goes by fast!! ) I am anxious to get the surgery over and begin healing. Tomorrow will be my 4th day on my liquid preop diet. I know I have lost some weight, but my hubby hid my scales ! :crying: He knows how obsessive I am about weighing. He wouldn't even let me sneak off to the bathroom at the gym, because he knew I would sneak off and weigh !! :rolleyes2::crying: Oh well!! I will find out on Wedneday. He made a deal with me. So, I can wait until then! ) Thank you again for responding; it gives me a little bit of hope that maybe my fills will be covered.
  20. Hello All :rolleyes2:) I have almost 7 days to go until I am banded. I was wondering if anyone who gets fills or will be getting them knows if they cover fills or at least part of them? I talked to Aetna today and they sent me a bulletin, but it doesn't say one way or the other if they cover them or not. Thank you in advance!! :crying:)
  21. I know what you mean CAntB2noty!! I can't "eat" anything either LOL All mine is liquid. This is the third day of my diet.

Today was day 2 of my preop diet. I have been quite surprised at how things are going. Yes! I have been getting hungry, but I have not been craving anything and I have even cooked for my husband and son without wanting to sneak anything; but, this is only day 2. My stomach does these bumpy, rolling things in my stomach when I have the hunger pangs. I am thinking this could be gas in my stomach as well. I can't weigh, because my hubby hid my scales . I had made the comment the other night that I wanted to wait until the night before surgery. He told me today to wait until Friday. I think I can. When I was on my 3-month supervised diet I weighed EVERDAY. I do think that you can set yourself up for disappointment and discouragement by doing this. Because one's weight can fluctuate 3 to 4 pounds even from one day to the next, I found. With each passing day, I become more and more excited. I know the night before surgery I will be nervous, but I feel amazingly calm about it. I absolutely cannot wait until I feel good enough about myself that I will want to do everything under the sun with my hubby and son. It's hard to believe that almost a year later, I am almost at the point of surgery. Just 8 more days!! Wow!

  24. You know, mylisa1, my husband and I were talking about this type of thing several weeks ago. How guys can go up to each other and say hey! You sure have gained weight. Or they say something like Hey! You're ugly! and this is "okay" to do to one another. I don't care who you are, if you are joking or not, any type of negative comment has to embed in one's psychy somewhere. Guys don't show the emotional side of themselves like women do. If someone were to say those things to a woman, she would most likely burst out crying. I just think before you say something that is supposed to be "funny" then it should be evaluated to see if it could be taken as a personal offense to another person, be it male or female. Congratulations on your upcoming band surgery!)
  25. Jachut, I think that is one of the BIG reasons I am doing so well on my preop diet. Yes, I have been getting bad hunger pangs. I have also been experiencing "bumps and rolls" inside my tummy when I am really hungry. But, I told my hubby the other day that this is a good lesson for me in knowing when I really AM hungry and not just craving things. Oddly, I don't have cravings on this liquid diet, just plain old hunger. I am handling it extremely well. But, I do have until July 6 until before midnight on July 7th to get to a breaking point, I guess. I have my eye set on the prize and I want to be one of the ones that have one to two incisions! So, that is one of my motivators there. Thank you all for posting your thoughts!
