  1. I fill a 1 qt Mason jar with water and put one family size decaf tea bag and one fruit flavored herbal tea bag in. Microwave for 5 minutes then just let it steep. It makes a concentrate that I pour into a pitcher then fill the rest with water. I like the subtle fruit flavor rather than a strong fruit flavor so mixing the tea bags works great. I use no calorie sweetener. My kids and I go thru a gallon per day most days.

    Not filling beyond 6 cc's??

I also have a 10 cc band. When I went in for a fill I asked how much I had in my band because my doc never tells me. The nurse said "5 cc's and you shouldn't need much more than that". Well that was 4 fills ago and I have no idea how much is in my band. I had a fill last week and when I asked my doc he said "I don't really keep track because its different for everyone". I understand that logic but honestly? How could he really not know. Wouldn't that be an important bit of information? My other thought was that maybe he chooses not to tell his patients so that they don't get stuck (not food stuck) on a certain number. I'm not sure. I thought it was strange.
  3. I buy my bras at Lane Bryant still. I may not be able to for much longer though. I love their convertible bra. I have DDD's even after loosing almost 50 lbs! This bra keeps them up on my chest where they should be and I can now wear strapless and spaghetti strap clothes. Good luck finding one that works for you. Brazillian Waxing

I did a brazillian wax about 2 months ago for the first time. It was quite painful however after I weighed the pros and cons, I was very happy with the results. The cons list was much shorter than the Pros. I am more than willing to go thru the pain every so often to achieve the results. I am going to take tylenol before my next appointment to see if that helps with the pain. I have heard that the "no scream cream" doesn't work so great. I think I would be willing to try it though. I say go for it.
  5. I have spent over half my day feeling dizzy. I can't figure out what could have caused it. I eat well, I think I get enough protein. I ran on my treadmill and did some strength training. All normal things for me. Anyone have any ideas? Could I be malnourished? I eat lean protein and lots of veggies everyday.

    Any thoughts on dizziness?

I don't take any meds. It couldn't have been low blood sugar. Maybe its the iron thing. Thanks.
  7. I have Tricare as well. I am 5'4" and was 246 lbs at the time of my consult. I had no co-morbidities but have a huge family history of diabetes and also had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy. My BMI was 42. I was approved very quickly and had very few pre-op tests or requirements. To get a BMI chart online I did a google search and found one I could print. I keep it on my desk as a reference so I can keep up with my progress. Good luck!

    Exercise Music

Cake - Short skirt/Long Jacket Nickleback - Rockstar Leanne Rimes - Nothing Better to do Nelly - Ride Wit Me Beyonce' - Single Ladies Black Eyed Peas - My Humps Black Eyed Peas - Pump It These are some of my favorites for the treadmill.
  9. I think I had a very different experience than a lot of Tricare patients. I have a huge family history of diabetes and had Gestational Diabetes with my last pregnancy. I was 100 lbs overweight but had no co-morbidities that I am aware of. I had no problems getting approved. It took a few weeks to get a response and I underwent very little testing. There was no 6 mos pre-op diet (only 10 days) and I wasn't required to have a psych eval. Good luck!
  10. I think its smart to prepare her but she doesn't need all the details. I would say that the doctor is going to help mommy get healthy. Mommy will be sore for a few days but I will be back to normal very soon. Something along those lines. Good luck!

    Texans Bandsters

Hi, I am currently in Wichita Falls, TX. We are a military family stationed at Sheppard AFB. I was banded on October 23, 2008 by Dr. Warnock. I am down 47 lbs and feeling great!
  12. No matter what I tried I couldn't get rid of the pain in my shoulder. For me it was just time. I finally noticed that I didn't have the shoulder pain about 9-10 weeks after surgery. For me that was the worst part of the whole procedure however I would do it again in a heartbeat. No regrets!

    Hi everyone!!

I have heard that Tricare is tough also however my experience was the opposite. I am a AF wife. I was 100 lbs overweight after having three kids. I have a huge family history of diabetes and had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy. I got my referral in August 2008 and was banded by the end of October 2008. I did not have major hoops to jump through. I wasn't required to see a psychologist. I only had a few tests and that was it along with my surgeons diet requirements. Good luck!

How much food can you eat?

    Amen to that!

    What is wrong with me?

Don't be so hard on yourself. It takes time and several fills (in my experience) to get the restriction that you expect to have with the band. The band will work for you, it just takes time. You'll get there.

How much food can you eat?

Cottage cheese is great with a tablespoon of strawberry jam. My kids love it that way. Also canned peaches are good on top. My step-dad ate it with worchestire sauce and pepper. My grandma always ate hers with tomatoes and onions. Okay those last two are weird in my book but the jam and fruit are GREAT!

How much food can you eat?

I have 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I'm not sure if I'm at the sweet spot yet but here's what I had for lunch. One chicken patty (breast meat about the size of a frozen burger patty and 140 calories) and 1/2 cup of salad. I'm full and completely satisfied.

Anyone else work from or stay at home??

I am a SAHM and was banded 5 months ago. I am down 40 lbs with 5cc's in a 10cc band. It is a struggle to stay out of the kitchen but I do. I only buy healthy food now. I know myself well enough to say that if there is junk food in the house I am going to eat it banded or not. If I don't buy the junk food, I can't eat it. I also buy a whole bunch of fresh veggies, bring them home and cook them. I store them in containers in the fridge so when I want lunch all I have to do is heat something up. If I have to cook a healthy meal from start to finish I end up just eating something quick and not so healthy. By making healthy foods like veggies quick I am able to eat fewer calories. As for snacking I eat a light cheese stick, apple slices with peanut butter, a slimfast snack bar...etc. My main goal is to keep my calorie intake low. I know its like being on a diet everyday of my life but this is what is working for me. Good luck.

Wichita Falls---anyone in or near by?

For me, there was no choice. If my doc wouldn't have let me have the lapband I wouldn't have had WLS at all. It is my feeling that bypass is way too invasive and I can't imagine having my organs cut up and sewn back together like that. My aunt had bypass and is completely malnourished and almost anorexic looking. My starting weight was 246 and am now 206. I have had a tough time loosing that much and to be honest exercise has nothing to do with it at this point. I eat healthy every single day. I am going for a fill next week because I have stopped loosing. I am anxious to get under 200 and to maybe loose another 15-20 lbs before my husband gets back from his deployment in June. We'll see though. Please feel free to ask any questions. I'll gladly help if I can.
  22. I wouldn't have had WLS if I had to have bypass. The thought of having my organs cut up and sewn back together just freaks me out. It's permanent and you can't go back. My Aunt had bypass and is malnourished and has no body fat left which is horribly dangerous. I think I would have to be extremely desperate to have the bypass. I am very happy with the band and have no regrets.
  23. Another thought...constipation? I know, sorry to be the one to bring it up but it is a possibility that you are backing up. I always weigh myself after going to the bathroom. You'd be surprised how much waste weighs. Other than that, you sound like you are eating well. Stay on course and it will start showing on the scale :cursing:

Hi! I had lapband in October 08 with Dr Warnock. I am 40 lbs down and feeling great. I have no regrets.
  25. I would say you definitely need a fill. I have 5cc's in a 10cc band and I had surgery in October 08. My band is 1/2 full and I have lost 32 lbs. I feel like I need another small fill again soon. I would call and speak with your doc about how you are feeling and not seeing results. Good luck!
