10 months after conversion
I suffered with lap band for about 8 years and finally decided to get it converted to RNY last year. I had the surgery July 15th, so tomorrow will be exactly 10 months. I think progress is going a little slower for me because 1) this is a conversion, and 2) I have PCOS and have historically not been able to lose weight on anything other than long term starvation. Even that wasn't working by the time I converted. As of this morning, I've lost 78 lbs and feel wonderful. I started at 275, so I'm finally comfortably in ONE-DERLAND! If you're hesitating to convert for any reason, I say DON't. Here are before and after pictures. I'm on the right, next to my sister in the before picture.

Desperate to get to ONE-DERLAND!
Wouldn't you know it? I have been steadily losing for about two months (I had lap band revised to RNY in July) and I plateaued at 200.0 last week!! Now I'm bouncing between 201-202. Sigh. I know I'm not supposed to weigh myself every day, but I was really looking forward to 199. I'm down 74 right now. I've got 41 more to reach my goal of 160. Alright, pity party over. Thanks for listening.

Almost 2 Years Post-Op
I think men lose faster, and it helps if your metabolism was normal before the surgery. Mine was not due to PCOS. I've lost 70 in 8 months. The total I needed to lose was 125.

How do you reward yourself for milestones?
I rewarded myself with new clothes at 65 lbs lost and I'll reward myself with a tummy tuck at 100 lbs lost. (My insurance covers a good portion of it.) That's about all! I'm at 70 lost right now!

What are you looking forward to?
I fit in the bathtub more easily now. I didn't even realize that would be a thing!

I haven't lost any hair. Weird?
Update: I started losing hair about five months out. Now I'm 8 months out and I can tell it's slowing down. Thankfully it's only noticeable if you're in my bathroom when I'm brushing or blow drying it and it's all over the sink. I think I was getting a little lax with keeping my protein intake high enough. I've been paying better attention to that, mostly because I notice that my large muscles and leg joints get sore when I don't get enough. Just thought I'd drop in and let you guys know!

Kristen's Journey From Pre-Op and Beyond
I'm following your journey, which sounds so much like mine. I have PCOS, too, and depression an anxiety that gets pretty bad without treatment. I'm down 70 lbs since mid-July when I had my surgery and have 55 left to get to my goal weight of 150. I'm so glad that you documented all of this. It's very uplifting and gives me hope! Hang in there--we're all rooting for you!

Have Lapband and Want Get GB Revision but Hubby Scared for Me To
The incision where they removed the port was very sore but it felt better than having the port! I always hated that the worst!! I had a sinking feeling within days of getting my band. I knew it wasn't going to be the right thing for me. I was apprehensive about getting revised but it has been so much better than having the band for losing weight. I don't regret revising at all!

I haven't lost any hair. Weird?
Do you keep it short? Have you had to cut any special way? I lost a bunch of hair after all of my pregnancies, but my hair was much short then.

I haven't lost any hair. Weird?
My hair is so thick! I've been purposely not having my stylist thin it out but I'm losing patience. I don't want to have her thin it out AND THEN lose a bunch more. I'll wait a couple more months just to be sure.

Does anyone feel weak or sick?
I nearly passed out in public the other day and had to be transported by ambulance to the ER. It was dehydration. Be careful!

I haven't lost any hair. Weird?
I'm glad I haven't lost any hair...but is the risk of losing hair over yet? I'm three months out from RNY.
