  1. Well, my doctor is more concerned with my stomach healing right now, rather than worrying about calories.
  2. I'm 2 days post op, and I just had a couple ounces of Apple Juice! Good grief it tasted GOOD! Better than when I craved it during pregnancy! I imagine every new drink and food will be like having it for the first time, and I can't wait! Although I'm not hungry at all, I am excited to be able to eat actual soups, and make a smoothie after tomorrow!! So glad to have made this decision! I think it will be one of the best decisions I've ever made!
  3. Wow! I hope that all goes well with the doctor, and you can figure out what's wrong! Maybe staying with full liquids for a bit will allow you to heal a little more. Some people just can't tolerate solids as soon as other people.
  4. Wow! I was told that if I ate solid foods too early, I risk a slip of the band later on. It interferes with the healing process, and the stomach is just not ready for solid foods...
  5. TriCare Prime approved my claim in about 3 hours after my doctor submitted it! I was amazed!! Now, 1 month later, I am banded!!!
  6. I was banded yesterday (7.8.08) and although I am in a bit of pain, I'm doing suprisingly well. What stinks is all these amazing smells coming from my mother's kitchen (we're staying with my family for a few days post-op) and not being able to EAT. I don't want to eat, my stomach is full, and I feel restricted, but the smells are so good! It's such a confusing situation! You really do have to train yourself. In any case, I'm proud to now move over to the Post-Op thread. I'm on clear liquids for 3 days, and full liquids for 5 weeks (although the doctor will allow mushies about week 4 or so). Hard to just have 2 oz at a time! And the gurgling is weird, too!
  7. I am on 3 days clear liquids, 5 weeks full liquids... I can't have eggs or refried beans until at least week 4 or 5... I'm afraid to wat any mushies before then!! Not that I feel much like eating. My surgery was yesterday. I just drank 2 oz of broth and feel as though I ate at a buffet!
  8. Hi everyone! I am BANDED! In a bit of pain, and uncomfortable, but doing alright. The doctor said my surgery went really well, and it was really fast. I guess my liver was perfectly fine! Even with my cheating. So, those who are worried, please take heart that you WILL be ok! Just try your best to stick to the diet! I do have one of these ON-Q devices that is basically a portable IV that is helping with the pain. I'm a little afraid to remove it Friday, but I have the instructions, so I'm ok with it. I wasn't expecting it, however, so ask your doctors  In any case, bought chicken broth made by my fave chef (BAM) and it's really good. I can only have 2 oz every hour of liquids, which is fine today, but I'm worried I may want more tomorrow... we'll see. Good luck to every future surgery! I just want everyone to know that it's going to be great, and to go in relaxed and confident that everything will be just fine!
  9. LOVE reading this! My surgery is tomorrow! Anyone else have any suggestions! Great idea for a thread!
  10. Me too! I keep worrying my liver will be too big, since I've cheated on the pre-op diet. However, I know that, as my BMI is lower than 40, my liver shouldn't be HUGE to begin with. My doctor said to just keep it healthy, and that the liquids are not all that important until afterward! It was a relief to hear that!
  11. I have to admit, I'm quite nervous about tomorrow. Although, the more posts I read, the more the nervousness disapates! My doctor is wonderful, and so laid back, and so accomplished! I am not nervous about my surgeon! I just want everything to go well! I have to admit, I haven't stuck to the pre-op diet as strictly as some, but I have kept it healthy, which is what my doctor said to do. I think he realizes that having people who have eating control problems stick to a liquid diet is quite hard! In any case, I hope my liver isn't HUGE! Although, my BMI is 39.5, and alot of doctors only have those who have 50+ BMI's do the diet. So, I think I'm ok. So... there it is... I'll update as soon as I can! http://www.dreamdollz.com/"]http://www.dreamdollz.com/glittermaker/holdz/z48727062a216c.gif' alt='a>'>

  13. Good Luck! I had a Sleep Study done, then 2 weeks later I called and left a message asking if my case had been submitted to my insurance. Next day, I got a call that not only had it been submitted, it had been approved in less than an hour! Gotta love TriCare Prime! Less than a month later, I'm going in for surgery tomorrow!!!
  14. AudricIan- I just loved reading this post! I can't wait to be able to go to a store that is NOT Lane Bryant, and be able to buy some really cute jeans! AND, to wear a skirt above my knees! I'm being banded tomorrow! My BMI is 39.5, and I'm lucky enough to have an insurance company that is covering all but $37.00! I'm so ready to loose!
  15. Yup... 2 weeks liquids. Didn't do all that well, but I wasn't really bad either... surgery tomorrow!!
  16. LateBloomer, thank you for this post! I appreciate reading about your experience! My surgery is tomorrow, and I was pretty worried about the pre-op diet. I haven't pigged out by any means, but it is good to know that I'll be alright! I am sticking to JUST protein shakes today! Thank you!
  17. I think almost everyone has cheated a bit... my surgery is tomorrow, and I have cheated a little. But, I also think I've done really well concidering I was with my family for 4th of July weekend, and they had doughnuts, cakes, fatty fried foods and everything! Didn't eat any of that! Today I'm sticking to protein shakes only. I think it'll be fine! Let us know how it all goes!
  18. My surgery is tomorrow! I am excited, and a little nervous! I just hope all goes as expected!
  19. Just wanted to say congratulations!! I hope all goes well for you and baby during the pregnancy!
  20. I've heard that the band can get tighter a few days after a fill, and that certain foods can irritate your stomach, causing it to swell, and thus, the band will be tighter...
  21. So, the soreness isn't all that bad?? I'm glad to hear that! I keep telling myself that, if I can have a baby, I can do this surgery!!
  22. Me too! I'm on the 8th as well! 5 more days!
  23. I'm proud to be a part of this group!! Time is flying by! I can't believe I'm only 6 days away!!
  24. Thank you! I'm hoping that I'll be so busy tubing, skiing, and boating that I won't think about the diet! LOL!
  25. Well, with my doctor, it's a liquid diet, no sugar, low fat. Only steamed veggies, and strained soups. High protien is really stressed! Like protien shakes and such. However, he did tell me today that the liquid is not so much important, as the low sugar, low fat. He stressed that whatever I eat should be healthy... and, the liquid part gets your body ready for post-op I guess. Every doctor has a little bit different pre-op diet. A friend of mine is having surgery the same day, but her diet is like the adkins diet. No breads, carbs, sugars basically.
