  1. No problem, yes i will keep you posted on how i'm getting on, dont forget keep nagging your gp, i heard someone say that those who shout the loudest seem to go furthest and it seems to be true, lol :tongue2:
  2. Hi Laura well first you need to go and see your GP and ask them to referr you for gastric band, some doctors are quite willing to do this but others are not so helpful and unless you have tried everything else like the tablets they can prescribe you they wont referr you, so it's a bit of a battle from the start. I had to ask my doc twice and then she agreed and referred me to Birmingham which i had no luck with so now she is referring me to walsall so ive just got to wait to get an appointment through from them to go for consultation:rolleyes2:, then it they agree it will be on the waiting list etc, like i said it can be a very slow process on the nhs route but for some ppl like me it's the only option cuz i would never be able to get the funds together to go private. Good luck with your GP Natalie:smile:
  3. HAPPY BANDIVERSARY MAINCAT!!!!! You are an inspiration to all of us, those that are banded and those that are about to be in the near future WELL DONE:thumbup: Natalie:smile2:
  4. Hi Lisa i have not been banded yet, i'm still trying to get somewhere with the nhs which is a bloody long process, but i'm from Rugeley which is not far from stoke so just wanted to say Hi  and congrats on your weight loss so far, you must be so pleased. Spk Soon Natalie
  5. Hi Chunky thanx for that, yeah i think most people have had problem with the aftercare side of things especially if theyve been on a cheaper package, they said it's a night mare trying to get follow up appointments and to get booked in for fills etc but yeah i will look into them more, ideally i would like to try and get the 3.5k together to go abrod first but if i cant do that then it will be a choice between THG or Surcicare somonelike that that offer the payment plans so i can go down that route Thanx Natalie
  6. Hi again Sas i'm feeling a bit better today, and i am going to persevere with my gp but at the same time i am still going to keep exploring all avenues of going private it just seems less hassle and a lot less waiting around lol i dont know why she sent me to thier weight managment clinic as i have already been to the one they offer at my doctors surgery this is why i think she's not to keen on the idea otherwise she would of reffered me straight to Dr Super Anyway like i said i'm looking into all kinds of options at the mo and will let you know how i'm getting on Thanx Natalie
  7. Hi Sas + everyone Went for my consultation today well not good news i'm afraid, i thought i was going to see Dr Super but my doc had only refferd me to thier weight managment clinic so i saw Dr Shaker and was not keen on him after arguing with him for most of the time he told me to go away and cut out all the things that i snack on and he will book an appt for in another 3 months to see Dr Super and if i have lost weight he will probably do the op but it does depend on wether my gp wants to fund it if she doesnt the iwill dissapointed when i go in 3 months. So as you can imagine i feel very frustrated now and i think it is my gp that's causing the problems (miserable cow, lol) i dont know what to do now, i really want to go private but it's the cost that is an issue, i cant get a loan cuz of having bad credit, my partner cud get a top up on his loan but convincing him to do that for me is going to be near impossible, he's far too tight and sensible, lol i wa thinking of looking into THG again and trying to get thier finance options but i havent heard very good reports from them, so a bit unsure what to do, unless i try and see another gp in my practice any suggestions??? Natalie
  8. Hi Chel i like you looked into going private but there is no way i would of been able to keep up the repayments on the loan, so i am now going down the long nhs route and have got my consultation 2moro but if for any reason i dont get approved i will deffo be trying to get £3,500 together to get my butt over to belgium, it's so much cheaper than over here and ive spoke to loads of ppl who have been to Dr Buryne and they have nothing but good reports about him, and he comes to the uk to do fills and check ups etc, if you have a look for some posts by GG 2007 she has a link to her youtube page and she has been keeping a video diary on there, you could have a look as she went to belgium too Good luck in your choice Natalie
  9. Hi Sass Congratulations!!!! so glad to hear that everything went well for you, hopefully the soreness and gas will soon fade, ive heard it doesnt last long yes i finally had my letter and my appt is this wednesday (1st):bolt: for my consultation i'm getting excited now, cant wait to find out for deffinate if it's a yes or no, cant wait to meet Dr Super as he sounds like a really nice bloke I'll keep you posted on how it goes wednesday Spk Soon:smile2:
  10. Hi shanaz WOW !!!! that's great news you must be soooooo excited:biggrin2:, i am really pleased to hear that especially as i'm being reffered to the same hospital as you Birmingham Heartlands so maybe the waiting list has shrunk a bit, he he keep in touch spk soon Natalie:smile2:
  11. Hi Shanaz i wish i was having my surgery so soon:tt1: lol, :tongue_smilie: i'm still in the early stages i'm being reffered to the heartlands and i'm just waiting for my letter from them to say they have recieved my refferal from the doctor, (getting frustrated now as it seems to be taking for ever:angry:) but it would be gr8 to keep in touch with you so i can find out how everything is going for you at the heartlands so then i'll know what to expect e.t.c if youve seen the thread i posted about the heartlands, i think sassy is having her op very close to yours, i think she said her's was 26th sept, so it will be around the same time as yours anyway spk soon Natalie:biggrin2:
  12. Hi Sas That's gr8, thanks for letting me know, Spk Soon Natalie:biggrin2:
  13. that's gr8, thanks just hope it aint to long before i hear from them, it's horrible being in limbo, just want to know if im gonna get approved what is it like when u go for your assesment, ive heard it's just a chat with the nurses and basically telling them what u told the doc about why u want the band i cant really see why i wont get approved my bmi is around the 50 mark i think (probably just over) but still it will be better when i know for deffo Thanx again Natalie
  14. Hi Sas that's great news, not long to go now for you then, i am so pleased to hear that someone is going to the same place i could be (fingers crossed) we will have to stay in touch so you can let me know what Dr Super is like and how everything goes, i'm still in the early stages doc has told me i should hear from Heartlands within the next month. and yeah your right about the smoking it's a good thing for me too cuz it will make me determined to do it. Spk soon Natalie
  15. Hi again i have spoken to my doctor again 2day and she is reffering me to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital just wandered if anyone has been banded there and was it ok?? Also while we were talking she asked me i smoked and i do, so she said well they will not do the surgery if you smoke so you will have to give up, is this true?? i dont mind too much as i was thinking about giving up anyway as it's is just way too expensive now, i just hope i can do it as getting refused for banding due to smoking would be devastating. mind you it will be a great motivation for me to give up Any response is really appreiciated (cant spell that word, lol):biggrin2: Thanx Natalie :cool2:
