Thank you for all the responses! I appreciate everyone’s advice. It’s amazing how quickly the weight can start creeping up on you. I have been watching my daily calories but have been drinking half the water i used to and decreased my exercise to only 2 days a week vs 5 I’ve also noticed that I’m feeling hungrier in the evenings and will often have late night snacks, so hopefully taking this drug and trying to follow my old post bariatric diet will help make the difference here. I was surprised that my doctor only wanted to prescribe the Topiramate since there are so many other options out there!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! I decided to sign up for the fitness pal premium plan instead and just track calories. There seemed to be a lot of hidden fees with Noom and I’ agree doesn’t seem to be worth the cost and the reviews weren’t very impressive….

Michele 2021 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Post op weight regain over the holidays!
Hi there this is probably a common issue with weight loss surgery. I am almost 2 years post op from a bypass and really have zero complaints ..but stopped exercising over 4 months ago and became more lenient on my food choices and ended up gaining 7 lbs over the last 6 months.. The issue is once you see a slight gain it seems hard to lose an ounce of weight. I’ve downloaded a weight loss app and started monitoring my daily calories, water intake and exercise with no luck so far. I’m curious how others out there who encountered this situation were able to restart there weight loss. What apps are you using? Did you continue using the protein shakes? I feel responsible here but want to stop it before the weight creeps up anymore.. I made a huge decision to get the surgery and it really helped me out but as the surgeon stated it was only a tool that we ultimately have to do the hard work to keep the weight off! I appreciate everyone’s feedback on this issue!

I appreciate everyone’s advice! I Was just hoping to see a faster weight loss at this point in time. But I do agree that cutting out the yogurt and oatmeal may be a good start and trying to eat less carbs and more protein in my diet along with more liquids…I’m only getting about 60grams of protein daily so that may also be causing the slower weight loss….I’m just nervous because My surgeon told me that the first three months will be the quickest weight loss I will experience and if it’s only 25 lbs that doesn’t feel like a lot since I have another 40 lbs I’m hoping to lose here.

I had the gastric bypass the end of April and have lost 25 lbs over the last 2.5 months.. I feel my weight loss has literally halted here. Does anyone have advice on changes they made when they noticed stalls? I drink over 50ozs of water a day a protein shake and yogurt { Danon light and fit with 12 grams protein and also try to eat some oatmeal for breakfast and veggies and grilled chicken for dinner. Along with waking 2 miles every day. I’m following all of the advice but have literally only lost 1 lb in the last 2 weeks which is very frustrating. I’m shocked to see how slow my weight loss has been with such a calorie deficit.has anyone else experienced this issue and if so do you have any advice? My nutritionist does not advise using the shakes more than once a day but they do offer a lot of protein. I’m curious to hear about others experiences and what foods they have chosen that helped in their weight loss journey…Thank you in advance!

Does anyone use the BariatricPal multivitamins or have any suggestions on a good multivitamin to use postoperatively? I’m trying to order some vitamins in advance the BariatricPal multivitamins are 105.00 for a year supply which seems very reasonable. I’m curious to know what brands other have purchased.

Hi there I had the same fears here..But while getting my work up to get approved for this procedure I found out I was pre-diabetic had Gerd and my preop scope found an ulcer that I was unaware of. i feel like this was my wake up call . And this procedure could improve my health. I feel that the benefits outweigh the risks.

I had the bypass surgery yesterday and experienced no issues other than the abdominal pain you experience which honestly feel more Ike hunger pains. My question is how much were others able to drink one day out of surgery? I’ll be lucky to get in 2 bottles of waters today! And am worried about hydration here!

I have also been feeling very overwhelmed lately about the surgery and the reality of what you can and can’t eat afterwards. The dumping syndrome also sounds horrible but I’m guessing it helps to keep you on track....I have to admit Although my procedure isn’t until April 28th I’ve been very lenient on my diet vs following the dietitians 1200 calories a day ..my preop diet begins 10 days prior to my surgery...And it is reassuring to know that i will be able to still eat some normal things in the future but just very small amounts...
