Medifast shakes...OH MY!!!
I am also on the medifast diet...week 5. I have only lost 13.5lbs. I shouldn't say only...but I was expecting a dramatic loss. My pre-op diet is intense as well. Best of luck. If you need any medifast support i'm here . The oatmeal is ok .

Surgery Question
I am a nursing student and recently had the opportunity to witness several surgeries. In all the surgeries the patients were only wearing gowns. There is however a draping procedure and the drapes are sterile. It is scary to think you will just be naked on a table. In all of the surgeries I witnessed no one was ever exposed anymore than they needed to be. The nurse's job is to act for you since you cannot act for yourself. Talk to her before surgery and tell her your concerns. In all honesty, they will not just whip off the gown and leave you naked on the table.

The Unexpected!!!
I am 4lbs. away from getting my date and have been doing some soul searching about expectations. . . . and how my life will change for both the good as well as the bad. I was hoping that some of the veterans on this site can enlighten me on things they didn't expect or didn't know would change? Both physically and mentally/emotionally? Thank you so much.

Telling the family????
Hi, I have been to my intial consult, psych eval, and my first visit with the nutrtionist. . .I also have a pcp appt tomorrow. The ball is rolling. . . and fast. I have not told my parents (whom I live with). I was hoping to get some advice on how and when to do it. . . .and hear other peoples stories of telling loved ones. Especially those who were unsure of how they would react.

Clinical Nutrtionist VS. Bariatric Physician
Could someone please explain the difference to me? In my paperwork it says after intial consult I will be referred to either a Clinincal Nutritionist or Bariatric Physician? Also has anyone seen a Nutritionist and lost weight and then been denied for surgery because of progress with the nutritionist?

I was curious because everyone had something a bit different. I have no known co-morbidites so I am curious as to what they will say. How has your journey been going? How are you feeling. . . what are you eating or not eating. . . how are you losing and did you tell people? Sorry about all the questions I am like a SPONGE I want to know all I can! I wish my appt was closer.

Thank you so much for that last post! It put a lot of things in perspective. I met with my primary doc today and she is on board...I wrote everything down and gave it to her and before she even finished the first paragraph she said "you're ready to try the lap-band huh?" I was so relieved. . . .scared but relieved. Sooo one potential "no" out of the way! Now on to july 28th. What testing is needed ? I know some but I haven't heard any details . . . do docs try to schedule things all together?

I've got to be honest. . .I am terrified at hearing the word no. I am 26 years old. I have been obese since the 2nd grade or so. I have tried every diet. Last year I worked with trainer and counted calories and after 9 months of hard work and thousands of dollars, I had only lost a total of 24 lbs. which went up and down the entire 9 months. I never thought of myself as a candidate for this surgery. . .But my numbers tell a different story. . .as you had mentioned. I just need help. Sorry for venting soo much.

It has been hard since CDPHP is not a huge ins. company. If you don't mind my asking. . .did they cover it all? When I called there 1-800# they said lap-band was not covered at all. . . is this one of those the doc (surgeon) needs to call on your behalf?
