The Hormones of Fat Loss
Hmmm wonder what she did that she tapped the center of her chest? lol who knows it's been so many years ago I can't remember - is there another gland that is stimulated by doing this or a gland with similar spelling? I have to go research that now - it's going to bug the heck out of me.

Thanks Chabutter, I finally looked it up. That sounds like what I need to maybe help with the shin splints from running. Any good brands/names I need to look for?

May 2006 Band Crew
thats great Scout, going through the ins approval process is the hard part  glad yours will turn out to be an approval - Ive read things about UHC being the easiest to get approval for - not here in FL that I have found so far. Anyone else have UHC in Florida? I haven't found an ins co. in FL that covers the process yet.

April 2006 Bandits
Good to hear you're doing better Yoda. yeeouch on the 2 spots from the tape - not sure if those of you having problems have gotten the tape off. PLEASE ask your doctor about doing this first in case they have any rules against it. A tip I learned from 2 previous surgeries and tons of blood work is this: take a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and go along the edges of your tape and gently dab over it, keep applying small amounts and it helps the sticky stuff come off.

The Hormones of Fat Loss
What a great article, puts together tons of info I have read/heard over the years. Speaking of Cortisol, anyone ever try Cortislim? About 18 years ago, a bookkeeper I worked with used to hit tap her chest in the center to stimulate her hypothalmus? I thought this was weird so I asked her why? She said her doctor told her to do this 5 times a day to help her. I had no clue with what and didn't think of that word until I read this. Isn't serotonin a chemical you get from the sun or am I thinking of something else? Been a busy day so my brain might be goo at this point.

Can someone help me with the process?
try and write down a log, it's best with any situation or doctor etc to keep a log and progress chart of who you spoke with on what date. This way when you call back you can say, I had these tests done on this day and I spoke with this person on this day - what always works too is to say to them: I don't mean to bug you again, I'm just excited to get my surgery done.

Colonoscopy jokes

Do you drink with your meals?
I agree Letha and the sell your firstborn was so funny to me I laughed outloud, I actually said that jokingly and he got this weird look on his face, and said mom! would you really do that? rotfl I have not been banded, have had to rescheduled a few times now. All I know is - since I am self pay aint no way I am going against what my Dr. says my husband would never let me live it down if I did. But, that brings me to a point like Kristin brought up - after researching I have found different doctors have the same basic philosophy but different rules, which makes it hard for all of us to follow the same path. Are there a set of rules/guidelines that each and every doctor have to go by or do they make up their own rules guided by what Inamed has to say based on experience of patients and what they have learned over the years? I don't want to fail because I drink with my meals, thats why I have questioned and gotten advise from others. I drink SO much though I am really afraid this might be my downfall

Exercise
I can understand the concept behind what they are trying to say about the joints and tendons. I would think as long as you start slow and work up to it, when you can run is when you should start? <sigh> I am just so out of the cycle after 6 years who knows lol I'll have to ask when I go to my PcP next week. I just thought it was weird they put the #200 on running. I would question then why - maybe that's what wrong with me! I ask too many questions and think about things too much <slaps self in forehead> My first thought was, individuals over 200 lbs - most major football players, basketball players etc. BUT they are athletes, and look at the larger FB guys omg some of those big guys can run (oh no now Im sounding like my husband)
-
Exercise
Thanks Kristin  any clue why the exercise physiologist used the #200? I used to run 6 years ago and had no problems whatsoever at that time I weighed 225-240lbs. I ran uphill, downhill and on a flat street. Upteen million years ago, in high school I got shin splints too but that was from not eating and too little Water or so the doctor said - I was 120-140lbs. I saw someone else post about the elliptical machine, and forgot to go look it up - heading there right now hehehe

Motivation/Exercise
Well Teresa if this were another thread, I might could say, J/K Bah, Im going to push through the stinking pain and just do it until it doesn't hurt anymore. If my surgery date is pushed back anymore I might end up with another excuse not to exercise and feel sorry for myself! Making me feel pain makes it reality lol Im a whats that called Machoist? (sp) lol Yumm did someone say fruit cake? Ive banished all sweet stuff in our house so even that sounds good at this point  Thanks Telly - $6.95 dang Im going to go get one. I might find where I can buy them wholesale through my business and stick them in my store. If I can I'll let ya know.

Do you drink with your meals?
I tried the SB diet stuff, since someone on another thread said it was good. Can't believe how good the wraps are - with some lettuce and tomatoes, one wrap with a side salad is a full meal and I feel like Im cheating lol 9 net carbs for the whole box was what got me hooked on the turkey & bacon ones

Almost 6 months out...
Wow that is a great accomplishment in such a short period, you have certainly worked hard. You look great, I had to look at the pictures twice to make sure it's all the same person.

Motivation/Exercise
Teresa were you reading my mind? hehehe I was looking for this thread, but when I put in exercise it didnt come up with this because motivation is first? hmmm <bookmarking this one> Someone kick my butt and remind me to exercise daily - take the pain and deal with it lol I started exercising April 2nd and worked up to running last week, but having killer shin splints. I am trying to do this on my own because so I don't have a major problem with surgery May 26. Anyone else have shin splints? if so what do you do about them? Hey Telly, where do you get the sauna suit?
-
Exercise
Not sure where to post this and I looked for the exercise thread, can't seem to find it though. Anyone else have terrible shin splints from Running? I started walking April 2nd and added running into part of my routine last week. I have tried warming up, stretching, squats, anti-inflammatory, pain meds, creams, lotions UGH :help: Any other solutions that might help? I can run 3-5 min and Im ok, then I walk when I get tired, run again and BAMMMM killer shin splints that I have to slow down and walk out and wait 5-10 min of walking again. Maybe 80 oz of Water daily or 900 cal isn't enough with this much exercise? I am burning 140 calories on average each time.
