Ok while waiting on my floors to dry, I am blocked in my office and have no orders to fill :paranoid (i know who the heck mops at 6am lol) My husband and I have been watching so much tv and following shows this year that we have to block time to watch them lol go to www.tvguide.com if you haven't ever been. I forgot to add www.imdb.com Internet Movie Database In the black line at the top click on listings/listings grid - there is so much information there. You can look up shows, what episodes have aired and when the next time a particular show will be on. What are your favorite shows? What tv can't you live without? 1. House - funny, sarcasm suits house best 2. Lost - I'm still lost on what the plot is, but we're supposed to find out soon. 3. American Idol - addicted nothing else to say 4. Extreme Home Makeover - Always loved Ty Pennigton 5. Desperate Housewives - didn't like the first season, but new writers have made it a great show 6. Smallville - Tom Welling; need I say more? 7. Prison Break - my husband's show - I can take it or leave it 8. Bones - don't always watch it because they put it against Lost 9. Surface - still waiting to see if it is brought back 10. Spongebob - lol sometimes I love his infinite wisdom - we stayed at the Nick Hotel for a week in Feb 06. For those SB/Nick fans, talk about a great time. If you get the chance to stay there get the kids suite or 2br one. The waterslide is HUGE:eek:
  2. Welcome Back Indababy. Glad they could repair your hernia during surgery - wonder if that has any affect on if you do better with the band or have less gas etc ? I would leave the cadbury egg as a treat when you can eat solids, hmmm or is the center not a solid ?? lol I have seen this and posted it in other sections. Don't deprive yourself of things you want, just eat moderate portions of what you want (or so I have seen from some very successful bandsters here) if You feel like you are dieting, then you are apt to cheat. Can't wait to see how well this works - reverse psychology always worked well with my kids lol happy healing
  3. So if you drink 80+ ounces of water a day and you still have dark colored urine, does that signify a problem? Also, I am always asked this question, is your urine also so dark? hmmm isn't a doctor or nurse supposed to KNOW that? Clarity of the urine is something also - finding out all kinds of stuff from my Urologist since I have been going.
  4. My husband and I are both self employed, and I work for him. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. To my understanding, you cannot be denied insurance if it is under a company policy for any reason (check with the new ins co first) I think each state has different rules governed by the ins commssioner. I was told this is the reason most small group policies have higher premiums. I was also told by 2 different ins carriers here that if you are 30% over your healthy weight - they can deny you coverage if you try and get a personal policy. We are much like you - stuck with having to have a group plan so I can have insurance coverage. I do not know on the policies if you have been banded, but I don't see why a personal policy won't cover you if you are in your healthy weight range and then apply for it. I will be finding out too if I can be switched over to a regular personal plan after I lose enough weight, so keep me updated on your insurance situation. Good Luck:)
  5. Danielle, thanks so much for that - it eases my mind some, except for the maniac driving part lol Did they do anything since you told them you had medicine? I have read this both ways - tell them you have meds and don't tell them <shrugs> so I am unsure. Does Dr Ortiz or his mom discuss this? Grats! and glad it went well for you and your friend.
  6. Thanks Yoda - going to get the chewables, I could never stand the smell of the liquid vitamins so Ive been looking for other options.
  7. ahh ok thank you, that would stink if it did and bring up a whole new set of problems.
  8. Wow I haven't seen anyone post about living in FL for awhile. I was starting to wonder how many FL people we had. I live NE of Tampa. We have year passes to Disney and stay in Kissimmee, usually once or twice a month depending on the weather. I was supposed to be banded on April 21st, but they found something on my kidney so I had to reschedule - Now Scheduled in Mexico Dr. Ortiz on May 26th. Can't wait to join everyone who has been banded. Good luck and so far Ive heard great results from the April Bandsters
  9. But if you change your username, does it delete all your posts?
  10. Thanks for the info  going to check out your dr. Tricia. Do you know if you have to have pre-op visits or and how many or do they tell you that in the site? I set aside $15,000 for surgery. I have been planing on Dr. Ortiz since his reputation is good and nice price at $8,500, but would rather be closer to home just in case.
  11. Welcome - if you have anything you want to look up, go to the search button at the top and do a search. I found it very useful at the beginning; its just quirky sometimes with search terms.
  12. Welcome Scout, have you found the may band crew thread yet? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16512&highlight=may+band+crew
  13. Welcome Kim, this is a great place and has a wealth of information. The before/after pictures are awesome and inspiring; brings hope to those of us just researching, starting to look and on the road to bandery. Good luck
  14. Debra does your insurance pay for the surgery? I live in FL and thought my ins paid for it and found out after a month that it did not. Mexico has been the cheapest by far for prices I found. We refinanced our home took out the cash to pay for the surgery and future surgery costs (fills flights etc) Even though I live in FL I figured Mexico might be nice to have a short stay of vacation and a new experience. Im paying $8,500 by Dr. Ortiz and $350 per ticket for flights.
  15. Congratulations Tina! I chose Dr. Ortiz also. I researched about 3-6 months and have read he is great. How are you feeling with your surgery so close? I can't wait till May 26th to join you - let us know how it goes
  16. wow MelAnne you sound like me lol always on the run sorry to hear about your son falling - how is his ankle?
  17. the jerky sounds like a great snack (have to order some)as well as pork rinds I had no clue I liked pork rinds until I found another post about what foods people were eating. I get the bbq or spicy ones and 0 yes zero carbs so they are great
  18. Congratulations Yoda! you have my special band day. Can't wait till May 26 for my new date! Hope you get to feeling better and have a speedy recovery...
  19. I agree with JS, eat your favorite food, just small portions. I read on another thread that was someone's success to losing. If you feel like you're dieting then you're more apt to cheat - understandable. But eat healthy tood I'm still thinking over the liquid diet thing that some have to go through for a month before surgery  not sure I could do that. A modified liquid diet is hard enough.
  20. Brodydog, depends on your insurance company and your doctor. Also, if you are self pay - your date is alot sooner. I found that out trying for 6 weeks through insurance then got a date for surgery in 2 weeks when I did self pay.
  21. Welcome and grats Pat on your remission. My mother has it also (along with breast cancer) What a great thing for you to do for yourself to look into the band. I will never understand about insurance decisions for things that will ultimately help patients. Good luck on your journey
  22. Funnyduddies, I have not heard of that. Where did you find that info out? I have a friend who's bmi is not really high, but she has trouble keeping weight off.
  23. Im always sorry to hear things like this. With my first marrige my husband was insecure with himself and when I lost weight, it was a sign to him that things were shaky and our marriage lasted only a few months after that. I think it depends solely on the 2 people involved in the relationship. My husband now is welcoming each and every day that I am losing weight and other than a couple of glitches is ok with me losing more weight. He says whatever makes me happy he is ok with.
  24. That sounds wonderful, Im sure my husband would love it and get more use out of it than me. more like begging me to massage his back with it lol do you have a website ?
  25. wow! Betje what an accomplishment to lose 61 pounds. I hope I do as well as you have so far. Keep going and change your routine in some way. If you don't drink enough Water, drink more - try exercise or break up your exercise routine. Also, on another thread - I saw someone stop exercising for a week when they hit a plateau (sp).
