Pain After Sleeve?
Wow what a horrendous experience. I’m glad you shared your story in hopes it will help someone else. After that initial torture, was your healing and recovery managed ok?

I’m sleeved and home
Thank you all. ? I am so tired of sip, sip, sipping all day long. I think I’ve finally got my sipping size down. A sip too large and it hurts.

Sounds like you need some electrolytes or salt. Do you have Gatorade or broth?

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
I’ve been able to get one protein shake in and it only took 3 hours. How I’m supposed to get two more in today, I don’t know. If you can’t get the protein drinks down, at least be sure you’re getting in enough liquid to stay hydrated. You might try thin out the protein shakes with water. I think I’ll try that next time. Hang in there!

I’m sleeved and home
My sleeve surgery went really well! My surgeon said it only took him about an hour. He’d told me it could be up to three. I had a hiatal hernia that he took care of. That probably explains my occasional reflux. He also took a liver biopsy because I’d been diagnosed with a fatty liver. Biopsy is Just so we can tell how much it had progressed. The worst part was waking up with shoulder/chest pain from the gas. Heating pads and walking helped. I’ve been able to slowly sip some water and protein water. The hospital broth and jello was yucky and I didn’t eat them. slept horribly at the hospital though, so I’m headed to bed now. Will check in later.

Maintenance anxiety
Thank you! I can’t even count the pounds that were lost and seemed to pile right back on. I’m already feeling relieved to stop that cycle.

Maintenance anxiety
My surgery is Thursday, but I have a history of not maintaining losses. I plan for this time to be different and I’m going to apply these ideas. Thanks!

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
So I took photos and measurements this morning. Lordy. Can't wait to transform! Two more sleeps! lol Editing to add: you folks that have to do two weeks liquid diet are freaking badass! I am doing three (only two are required) days and I wanted to gnaw my arm off yesterday. Kind of headachey today but ok. PSA: Fairlife Protein Drinks are delicious and have 30 grams of protein and 3 grams of sugar.

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
Oh a book! Yes, I’ll bring one although I do wonder how much I’ll be able to read. And for sure some lip balm and hand lotion. My hospital is allowing one visitor and my husband can wait for me to get out of recovery. I don’t know if he will. Im kind of ok if he doesn’t feel comfortable with that. I’d rather he limit his exposure time. If he can wait until they take me to the OR that’ll be good with me. I’m super excited and not nervous at all! But there’s still time for nerves to kick in.

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
What are you all packing for an overnight hospital stay? I have my fuzzy robe, very loose yoga pants, loose t-shirt, granny undies and a sports bra. Not much as far as toiletries, just toothbrush/paste/floss and a facial wash. Adding: my Crocs which are my slippers. And my phone charger, of course! Am I missing something?

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
Yay for you! Are you ready, other than your nerves? I go next Thursday but need to start getting a hospital bag together. I almost feel like I’m nesting like before having a baby. Lol Best wishes for your new life!

Liquid Diet Pre Op-only broth
You've received great advice from OAGBpal and catwoman7. They're right that you need the protein. I especially love this:

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
You know, I actually did. I always seemed to have to email and then send another a day or two later asking why I hadn't heard back yet. THEN I'd get a response. Phone was worse because not every employee is actually working in the office. That would suck if you have to start again with a new provider, but responding to patients is important.

Any suggestions for bras while losing?
I thought I'd probably check the clearance stuff too. I didn't consider Ross and Marshall's though. Good idea!

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
No blood work? I thought that was just standard for any surgical procedure. At my anesthesiologist appointment, she measured my neck, looked down my throat and checked my teeth, aside from questions. Maybe they'll just do that stuff on the day of your surgery?
