Well, I just learned what the foamies are
Yes, I lived and learned! Do not want a repeat of that. Do you have a time frame in which to eat? I get up to 30 minutes and with tiny bites it isn’t much food but I’m not hungry anyway so I guess it works out. Do you have hunger?

This Pre-op diet is a b$@!:
How long do you have to do it for? I did 3 days and even that was tough! It did get easier by the third day. You got this!

Calories, diabetes, and a clueless doc
I seem to stay around 400 cal range. I was prediabetic and taking Metformin before surgery. There is absolutely no way I could take one of those pills now. My bariatric NP told me it's ok to stop them. My blood glucose numbers have been normal range and some lows I haven't seem in a while.

Well, I just learned what the foamies are
I'm in the pureed food stage and for lunch I had chicken salad. I had it for dinner yesterday and it was ok. Today, I guess was a lesson to LISTEN to my baby sleeve because it was about 3/4 through my portion that I started to feel full-ish. Since the amount I'm allowed is so tiny, I just didn't relate it to being enough or full. About 15 minutes later I had awful hiccups that wouldn't calm down and then the foamies. Is it still considered the foamies if there was some barf too? The uncomfortable feelings and hiccups stopped immediately after. Then about 10 minutes later my son and I were leaving the grocery store and I got hiccups again and then I felt it coming up again. I had to have him pull over and more foamie/barf. UGH. Lesson learned.

Wow 66 is awesome! Your losses are a great reminder that we lose at different rates and not to compare to others. Great work!

10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed food
I made a few servings of puréed chicken salad today (ate only one). I thought it would be weird but it was actually tasty! I’m going to try the same “recipe” with eggs and tuna soon.

Anyone have an easy/fast recovery after VGS surgery?
Right out of surgery I had gas pain in my shoulders which dissipated with walking and a heat pad. About day 3 I had awful gas pains in the morning but after they calmed down I was ok. I left the hospital before my pain med prescription was ready and I didn’t need it anyway. My incision sites are doing ok with no issues. Overall I am having had a fairly easy recovery. You can’t plan for all the unknowns, but the advice to do as your bariatric team recommends is solid.

Had surgery Feb 9th.. drinking a whole protein shake makes me sick
I found that thinning the protein shakes with some water helped get them down. Protein water helps too.

Pureed - how do I know if I am full?
At my follow up today I was told to measure my puréed food into a 1/4 portion and eat sssslowly for 20-30 mins. Can puréed food be chewed? It already seem mushy. Also I only have to stop drinking 15 minutes before eating and wait an hour after eating before drinking again. I was thrilled to hear I get an hour break before sipping again!

I’m sleeved and home
It’s day 6 post op and things are mostly ok with some little bumps here and there. The bumps are mostly due to gas pain, but yesterday after a lot of walking I started to have a sharp pain under my right ribs. I still get that pain with a deep breath but it’s not intolerable. I have my first follow up tomorrow and thought I’d drive myself, but the energy level isn’t quite there. My husband will take me instead. getting good water intake and protein shakes but I am so tired of drinking.

New date for sleeve surgery 2/23!
Congrats on getting your date! I’m almost a week out so can’t speak to hair loss yet. I was preemptively taking biotin with keratin but post surgery...no way can I take them. I have read that the double stress on your body from very low calories and surgery can cause the hair loss.

I’m sleeved and home
Are your multivitamins not chewable? I was advised to get children’s chewable and omigosh they taste chalky and terrible. How would kids ever take them? Blech! I need some soft chews also. What are you getting? today was not a good day for me. I had terrible, breathtakingly awful gas pain in the morning as I was trying to get my first protein shake down. They subsided mid-day but by then I was not even trying to drink any more shake. I called my bariatric clinic and the nurse said if I couldn’t stomach them not to force them and at least try for clear liquids. I had a heating pad at my back/shoulders a lot today. Your stitch pain sounds awful. I hope that stops soon for you. Do you have a follow up appointment soon? I have one Thursday. I too, am noticing and appreciating food smells but same...no hunger for food at all. these people (my family) are barely preparing food though since I’m not cooking, And it is chilly here today. The worst is the cold wind.

I’m sleeved and home
Yeah, for sure! Some of my sips seemed like a teeny drip with barely anything to swallow. Today is much better for me. I’ve already had two protein drinks but not gonna lie, not looking forward to the third. How are you doing, GreenThumb?

Bariatric Postoperative Home Care
No, but that sounds like a lot when you’re newly out from anesthesia. I hope you’ll have lots of support at home! Best wishes for Monday.
