  1. I was banded on the 25th and have been starving since Monday, 5am (yes, I know since I was so grumbly it woke me up). I about kissed my doc when he cleared me to phase 2 (full liquids) today. If I never see jello again, it will be too soon!
  2. Each doctor is different, mine won't do a fill till you are no longer consistently losing weight and the first fill isn't even thought of until 7 weeks. Discuss your concerns about slipping/stretching with your doc though, they are the best source of info.
  3. I recieved dilaudid through a butterfly catheter in the hospital. I came home with a script for liquid lortab and quickly discovered that it is the pain killer I am allergic too but we couldn't figure out. I ended up taking only 2 doses of that an one dose of liquid tylenol. I had surgery on Friday, discharged on Saturday noon-ish. Took one dose at 3pm Saturday, one at 5am Sunday and one at 10pm Sunday. No more after that.
  4. They don't taste bad but for me are entirely too sweet. Alone or mixed with something else. Of course, this is coming from the person that now thinks sf Jello is too sweet!
  5. I just had my surgery on Friday and my nurses were telling me that they think I made a great decision. They said since my dr has been doing lap band, they haven't seen anyone come in with major complications, unlike gastric bypass patients. Made me feel good...I know complications can happen but they are rare.
  6. WTG! Slower is definitely better! Your dr sounds a lot like mine. He is very conservative with fills, as he wants you to be able to eat...just not too much. He won't fill if you are steadily losing weight. He also does not want you cutting anything completely out of your diet. His office calls the downstairs nutritionist the sugar nazi because she wants you to have absolutely NONE!
  7. My post op instructions say no more than 1 ounce every 5 minutes for food and drinks.
  8. I had my surgery on Friday and my husband does not go back to work until the 5th. He could have went back today and I would have been fine, even with a 6 year old but I like to be pampered occasionally:)
  9. You got it! I go in tomorrow morning too...0730.
  10. I'm up for tomorrow morning too, 0730. I finally started getting a bit nervous last night... I'll post once I am back home and coherent.
  11. Mine is MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/314234608
  12. When I went to my pre-op, the admissions nurse said to wear them for 2 weeks. I asked my surgeon's office, because I live in FL and would die from heat with them on. She said I only have to wear them in the hospital and after a while, they actually start doing damage by cutting off your circulation. I'd call and talk to your surgeon.
  13. I received one from my hospital's bariatrics program...call your surgeon and ask.
  14. Technically, you shouldn't have a copay TRICARE Cost Share . I am having this done in a civilian hospital, had my daughter in a civilian hospital and another procedure and have never had a copay. Strange...
  15. I have Tricare Prime (active duty) and do not have to pay anything. Tricare Prime retirees have co-pays.
  16. I had my final meal tonight, I ate way more than I should have but ate what sounded good. My mindset is that once my pre-op diet hits tomorrow, my whole mindset on eating is starting anew even though my surgeon says after the post-op diet, nothing is banned. Two days of full liquids and then surgery on Friday. It was supposed to be today and I wish it was over already...LOL!
  17. Same here. The initial referral approval was just for a consult/evaluation by a surgeon. Then you had to get separate approval for the actual procedure.
  18. My doc does 1 week clear, 1 week full, 1 week mushies and 1 week soft. He'll change that if you are having issues but that is the general rule.
  19. My doctor offers both and based on reading, I am leaning towards the Realize band. He decides once he sees you inside though, so I really get no say.
  20. I think so. I love it but haven't played it nearly as much as my daughter. It's hot here in FL so it is great to be able to get some exercise without having to brave the heat and humidity. Granted though, even with shipping I only paid $25 more than I would have in stores, so I got a pretty good deal. You can do the free run and watch tv at the same time. The instructions play from the Wiimote.

  22. I've not found them anywhere around here in stock, nor online. I finally broke down a month or two ago and went the ebay route.
  23. Well, I got a call from the surgeon today and my surgery is being delayed from the 22nd till the 25th. It's only 3 days but I am still disappointed. I am so ready to have it over with. Supposedly the OR is having an equipment lock-down day on the 22nd and they just alerted my doc. Of course, I had everything (work, childcare, my dh's leave) all ironed out already. Work and leave were easy but it took going through 3 people to find childcare again. I just pray there are no more glitches!
  24.
