  1. That Afro Peruvian stew looks so good! Will you share a recipe?
  2. There’s a lot to learn. Thanks for answering my questions!
  3. Does that mean that you have to be careful with them because they are easier to over eat?
  4. I like that bowl! What do you mean by “slider”?
  5. That looks delicious! I noticed that your bowl shows that it was about a half cup portion. How far our are you from your surgery?
  6. It happened to me, too. It’s a stall, and there’s nothing to be done but follow your plan and wait it out. It’s discouraging while it happens, but it’s normal and it WILL end! I dropped another 8 pounds in a week when it finally ended. Hang in there!
  7. I get really bad chest pain when I drink too soon after eating. Sometimes a half hour is not enough time. Also, ice water can cause pain. It does pass eventually. I attribute some of the pain to having had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as the VSG.
  8. Scrambled eggs are soft, so they go down easy, even though they still need to be chewed thoroughly. I’d only do one egg though. I started them on week two and they were a pleasant change from protein shakes.

    Hubba hubba!! You look sharp!
  10. Yay!!! Good for you!
  11. My sleeve was done on 11/2 and I started soft proteins officially today, although I did get the OK to have egg, cottage cheese and yogurt last week. Tonight I ate 2 oz of ground turkey, topped with 1/4 cup of refried beans and 1 TBSP of shredded cheese. My husband thought it looked like a lot of food, and I suppose it was a little over 1/2c, total. Is that too much? I didn't get any sense of being overly full, but it was certainly more than I thought I would be able to eat. I can drink a full mug of broth without feeling too full. Is this normal? My weight loss has stalled the last 4 or 5 days, but calorie wise, I don't think I'm eating too much. I usually don't even get up to 700 calories. I'm afraid of gaining weight again.
  12. Your posts and perspective are always so helpful.
  13. Hate to burst your bubble, but those protein shakes continue postop. I am so sick of them! I didn’t have the diarrhea part though. Have to drink Smooth Move Tea to get results.
  14. I did call my surgeon's office today and got the okay to start soft foods but limited it to greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and poached eggs. Nothing solid. I had 1/4 cup cottage cheese for lunch. It was soooo goood!!!
  15. Are you sure it was Ritalin and not Reglan? Reglan would make more sense since it is for reflux/stomach acid. It’s important to know so you can list it as a drug allergy.
  16. Wow! You had surgery on the 2nd, like I did, didn’t you? I’m on the protein shakes for another week and I want real food SO BAD!!! I’m going to call the office today and see if I can start early. I’ll look for that soup.
  17. Thanks! I’ll give that a try. When I was pre-op, I could slug down Premiere without a problem but now, spreading it out over an hour or two it is just disgusting.
  18. What kind of unflavored protein powder do you use? I am getting so sick of Premiere Protein. I have some of the clear protein drinks but the tropical fruit flavor is sickeningly sweet. It’s like drinking colonoscopy prep. And now my husband is eating a nutty piece of fruitcake. I think I’ll stick a fork in his eye! LOL.
  19. I gained 6 lbs in the hospital but I was back to pre-op wt yesterday and down almost 3 labs today. That IV weight was discouraging at first.
  20. You folks here give me hope. I'm 5 days postop VSG and want to eat real food. Seeing your photos let's me know that while I can't have it now, I will be able to have it later. It all looks soooo goooood!
  21. Yes, I’m taking omeprazol.
  22. Is anyone else hungry? I thought that was supposed to be a thing of the past, but I f3el something in my gut that I associate with being hungry. If I ate, I know it wouldn't sit well, plus, at 5 days postop, it's a huge no no.
  23. I don't have any answers but I feel you! I want a saltine cracker, and it's something I don't normally eat. Five days postop so it's a no go.
  24. I like Smooth Move tea also.
  25. Are they giving you anything for the nausea? They sent me home with a prescription for ondansetron (Zofran). They were giving it to me in the hospital, too.
