Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I did something I've never done before. I had a craving for M&M's. I had a 1 pound bag. Not a good idea to have around. But I had 6 and put the bag in my kids hands and said RUN... No seriously I told him to put them where I can't see them anymore. He did. And my craving is OVER> course it would have helped if I had more than 1 piece of bread with some peanut butter (1 tbsp) on it for dinner. What I cooked just didn't taste good to me. I had one small taste. teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I am definitely with Deb... funny thing is I too saw that commercial in March and it clicked. I made my first phone calls to surgeon's offices in April. Got my paperwork turned in by May, and attended the seminar may 6,2008. I decided it was time for me. I had attended the seminars, and support groups (my group requires at minimum of 3 groups attendence- pre op), and in June my first visit. Here we are, months post op, and we're rocking this world. It's weird... but I'm sure ya'll will understand. I'm throwing away so much food these days. Never before have I done that. It doesn't even bother me. Do you find you have more leftovers with meals? Sometimes I freeze them up to use for a lunch eventually. Other times, I just throw them out. A year ago, I was still gaining, in Jan/Feb. For my birthday (in 10 days), I was given a pair of jeans. They didn't fit. They were to small. They were a size 18/20. They're so big now, Michael will come up behind me and pull them right down. They have an elastic waist. I like that feeling. Weird thing is their next size down is like TIGHT. But they are "normal" sized not plus sized. Soon! I didn't get my exercise in before the twins got up, so I'm hoping to get it when they nap this afternoon. It's gonna be so cold all day, I could use the warm up I've called around. I found the YMCA to be the cheapest membership so far around here. There is a place called Healthlinks that I've called about ten times that is always no answer. Yet I know they're open at that hour. I like the idea of the Y or the other place with no phone answer, as they both have a pool. But before I dare go that route, I need to buy a new suit. My two piece, I wore while quite pregnant with the twins. So it's stretched out (a tankini), and the one piece was big last summer, and I'm not sure I dare wear that in public. It's all loose. So I'm gonna have to go suit shopping. My bf is so proud of the changes I've made... he's going to be sending me and the boys to orlando florida. Part for disney, part for universal studios, and the other attractions. Just to get away. He's talking a week, and a flight for us all. I'm hoping he'll join us. Teri

HELP- I have a cold - fill is tomorrow
I'm finding that I feel better eating less, but that lowers my caloric intake. They are thinking I'm not eating enough. WHEN did that happen? Anyway, I'm making better food choices now. Like last night I made for dinner Liver (tender and juicey the way I cook it), and peas, and a lipton Pasta and broccoli noodle side dish. I ate the liver, and peas. And because I didn't want to feel deprived I had two small noodles from the pasta. I wasn't hungry again the rest of the day. This morning I had a Protein bar. 180 calories and 20 grams of protein. I haven't been able to exercise since Friday, and feel like I've cut my arm off. (You know missing something major). HOwever I wish I could cut my right leg off. I pulled the muscles in an ice related fall. The back and inside of my right leg are so tight and painful. I'm walking slowly, but I am constantly on the go, thanks to the twins. Oh, because I've told you so much about my boys, I'll share some good news about Matthew. Remember he can't walk? Well he has a gait trainer (if you are curious google pony gait trainer- it's the yellow one) on loan from a therapy place here. He's all over now. So I'm constantly teaching him, no we can't knock Brandon's glass off the bar. It breaks. (He learned that the hard way) In therapy on thursday he walked over 500 feet. His longest distance ever! teri

How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?
I can eat bread. I just have to go slow and easy. IF I feel like it's going down VERY slowly, I know I'm nearly full, and should stop. teri

HELP- I have a cold - fill is tomorrow
I'd love your nutricianists food plan. I saw my surgeon. He thinks I'm dealing with head hunger a lot. I think he may be right. He did give me another .5 fill (my 5th total fill). I'm feeling more tightness when I eat, and if I only allow myself the half hour to eat, I eat MUCH less. I do however find myself wanting to graze. Not a good idea. SO I'm working on that right this second. How is your cold? Teri

September Bandster Check-in
I've had my 5th. My dr gives tineeee tiny ones now. I'm lucky to get .5 each time. Anyway, I'm nearing good restriction, but am finally feeling some. So I'm starting to really feel things. That's good. I'm glad you have restriction. It must be a wonderful feeling. Teri

HELP- I have a cold - fill is tomorrow
It happens. You saw the err, and corrected. I wish I could figure out what is going on with me. I seriously have been gaining, and I'm not eating any different, except less carbs, bumped up my exercise. I'm getting so discouraged. But I'm not giving up. teri

I need some advice... any?
I had my band placed 9-16-08. I've not lost a tremendous amount of weight in that 4 months. Truth be told I lost that much in 8 weeks preop, just eating less, exercising more. Since surgery I have lost... 17 pounds, which is about a pound a week. But I have been stuck at 225 for a month now. I measure everything. I've had another fill, may get yet another on wednesday this week. I'm exercising. I did have one day I emotionally ate abotu 500 calories. But I worked out HUGE afterwards. (buyer's remorse type thing) But generally speaking I stick around 900 to 1100 calories a day. I drink 75 ounces of water a day, or more. I work out minimum of 30 minutes a day. Plus I'm an active mom of twin 3 yr old twins (well almost 3 yr old), and a 12 yr old. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Yesterday I had for breakfast, 2 shredded wheat biscuits (170 calories), and 1/2 cup fat free milk. Oh and my multivitamin. Lunch I had tuna, half a can, packed in water and drained. I had two tbsp of fat free mayo. I also had half a pear. For dinner, I had made chicken and dumplings. I measured out 3 ounces of chicken, and another 3 ounces of veggies. I did eat about 1 ounce (like 2 small bites) of biscuit. I had during the day 2- 10 calorie sugar free jello cups. (I'm still getting hungry often). I did wii fit for 35 minutes step aerobics, making over 2500 steps in that time. I also did leslie sansome walk slim the 4th mile with the band, and the stretching at the end. So I got a fair amount of work out too. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
That will be so awesome. I have also found more money in my budget. Which is nice, since I'm spending more money on clothes now I'm gonna post a new topic, because I need some advice. So if you see this in an email update, please if you have 5 minutes, pop in and help me. I'd really appreciate some advice. teri

HELP- I have a cold - fill is tomorrow
I hope all works out fine. Why can't you have anything after midnight? I can eat right before my fills. Then it's liquids afterwards. I hope you get this long overdue fill. I also hope you feel better REAL fast. Teri

Byetta
When my band was placed they told me that byetta can't be used post op. They told me something about it may damage the band. I don't really remember. Truthfully I haven't needed anything since the band was placed, except some OJ I've actually had some lows. I'm off all diabetes meds, and doing great. teri

New to Diabetes and Lap Band
I took just the byetta, and two shots a day. I'm off, have been since the day of my surgery. My surgeon told me that there was some damage the byetta would do to the band. Plus I haven't needed anything. My sugars, even after eating chocolate, is great. Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I started out at 270 (april last year), and the morning of my surgery I was at 242, and am currently bouncing between 225-227. Wtg you guys. I had my first bout of stuck. I had swallowed a piece of lunch meat, quick trying to answer the phone. I should have just spit it out. Hind sight ya know. Well it stuck so bad, I heaved, and pb'ed for like half an hour. It all came back up, more than that last bite. I've been on liquids/ mushies since. I'm not enjoying it, but it just feels like I'm swollen. Teri

I am the only one frustrated?
I too get frustrated. I have even taken time off the boards because of it. Like some of the others, I've just chosen not to read/reply to threads like this now. I refuse to enable someone, who isn't or can't follow post op guidelines. That said... and not that I'm perfect, I followed them. I feared what would happen if I didn't. It's a matter of a couple of weeks. Can't we control our eating for a couple weeks? Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I haven't been getting notifications either. I am still at the same weight, so I'm keeping track of my calories for a couple days. Weighing/measuring everything i eat. I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Teri

September Bandster Check-in
my current mini goal is to get under 215. I'm on most days 9 pounds away. The last few days I'm 14 pounds away. Not to happy about the gain. But with this fill, and being on liquids now yesterday and most of today, I'll hopefully break down that number some. I did the leslie sansone walk slim video today. I've been doing 2 miles twice a week for about 2 weeks. I did the full video today... including the band workout. I'm pretty sore tonight, and seriously needed a shower after I was done. Hopefully I'm not terribly stiff tomorrow, as Matthew has therapy in the morning. Anyway, back to the workout. It's not a technically difficult video, and doesn't require special stuff. Doesn't have any crazy music or anything. I enjoyed it. I actually kept up with it first tries in each section. I'll attempt it again tomorrow, in hopes that I shake things up again. Maybe the weight will start moving again. teri

How much did you lose 4 months out?
Since surgery I'm between 17 and 19 pounds down. Total I'm nearly 50 pounds down, but I did a huge pre op thing. I'm doing the whole "pouch test" thing now, as I had a fill, and the dr and I talked about it. So liquids again today. I lost 2 of the 4 I gained this week. I think it was a Water gain, as I've spent all day and night in the restroom urinating. Kindda like I'm in that TOM thing... but shouldn't be. teri

September Bandster Check-in
I do wii fit nearly every day. It's more fun than real exercise, so I enjoy it. teri

September Bandster Check-in

2009 Weight loss Challenge
A couple of questions... if I may. How long is this challenge running? Like to march? Or A holiday? Because I have short term goals and long term. I'm in the valentine one, that someone is running here, but it's really not working for me, in the set up. But if this is like the "last of 2008 challenge" I'd like it. teri
