  1. Gah!!! Got all my labs and results back and met with the doc. I actually gained 5 pounds since my consult (Let's just call it a farewell to all the foods I love and won't have anymore). I also have a fatty liver. The doc now wants me on a low-carb/no-carb diet with no dairy for the next two weeks, then I'll beon the pre-op liquid diet for two weeks before surgery. OMG! I was soooooooo not prepared to go low-carb! I knew the liquid diet would be involved, but I thought I would be ok before that. I'm trying really hard not to freak out and I'm going to give myself a few days to gradually taper down my carbs. Wow has this been a wake-up call--the party is really over now!
  2. I just found out I had a fatty liver today. My doc has said low-carb diet now for 2 weeks with no dairy (sigh) then I'll be on liquids for 2 weeks before surgery. I'm a little nervous about this, but hopefully all will be OK.
  3. Oh jeez what a PITA nurse. At least the insurance people know it isn't you, that it is the nurse. (And WOW if the insurance company is aware of her--that tells you just how snotty she is) And nope once a Samurai, always a Samurai! Most definitely!!!!!
  4. Congrats! Come on over and join us at the September Samurais!
  5. LOL at "sisterhood of traveling elastic waist pants" Hopefully they won't be elastic for long.:crying:
  6. I'm getting banded w/Dr. Oh in federal Way next month. I'm so excited (although I am getting a little nervous too)
  7. I want to shop in the regular size department for a new bathing suit that I can wear when I learn how to surf in Hawaii.
  8. I'll be taking the day after off of work, then I won't be due to be back at work until a week later. I do have my one week follow up that day so i am hoping to go back for a half day then.
  9. I will be on September 11. Almost a month away!
  10. Grrrr I can't get mine to work. Shows up in my CP but not on my posts.
  11. Congrats! You will be there in no time
  12. Hi everyone- I'm so excited (not just because Project Runway is on tonight LOL) Today I got a ton of my diagnostic stuff done! My surgeons scheduler has been awesome and she booked me in for ultrasound, chest x-ray, EKG & pulmonary workup, labs, and my EGD all for today! Everything went really smoothly. I didn't even mind the fasting. I got a nice long nap this afternoon after we got home and now I'm just taking it easy. Only a few more things until it is surgery date! Woot!
  13. This is a great! I'm 37 years old, married 6 years to my wonderful DH. We have an 18 month old little boy who is the light of our lives. I'm a part time school counselor--who is still enjoying summer vacation! What I'm looking forward to with LapBand- Having the energy to chase my little guy around, and being able to enjoy things like swimming at the pool or riding a bike without feeling embarrassed. Shopping in the misses section and any store I walk into. Having my outsides match my insides. i used to use food to cope wwith so much back in the day. I've grown a lot and changed a lot, but being overweight doesn't match that. Did I mention the clothes??
  14. Oh yay! I was on vacation for a week or so w/o my 'puter (I know!) and I just came back to see I'm in the samurai club. Off to go work on the siggie.. .
  15. Hi everyone- I am so excited to finally be on this journey. I planned to have the LapBand last summer but my insurance company switched its requirements right before my surgery date. I've finally got a date of September 11 and I cannot wait!
  16. Hi everyone, I've been lurking around LBT for a bit, but I just got my surgery date so i figured I would join all your September people.:biggrin2: My date is Sept 11-I figured I wanted to make that day a GOOD memory. And just for the record I love September Samurais--I feel like a warrior in this too.
