  1. I agree Gillian ...... I remember last time.. I trumped for England, Steve said I was a wind machine. and I'm the same this time, but it passes lol, sorry for the pun. Garry you are a mine of information... Bless Mmm I have missed you too.
  2. Sweetheart, have you tried Remegel? You just dont need to suffer like that its a blinkin nightmare isnt it. My first fill is about 7th April as my surgeon is away on holiday. Mine will be done in Manchester , I get 2 free ones, bless Michael, he offered Manchester instead of Southampton as he knows its a hike for me to get down south. I'm going to mail him this week to find out if he's heard from the manufacturer about the examination of my faulty band. I do hope your wind pains go soon girlies xx
  3. my dear friends, for all your kindness, I have so missed all your banter, its been hard with all my other mod jobs and my own board too. But everyone on those boards think I have had my gall bladder removed cos apparently its a similar op, so that's what to tell people, you unbanded chicks and guys. I will have to sort the ticker out for myself asap.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm back at last. The last few weeks have been so hectic, with my poor Mum in hospital and my youngest daughter going to Oz for 12 months. My daughter went on Monday evening, but my Mum is still in hospital, they are saying she may not walk again and will have to go into a residential home.:w00t: My weight doesnt seem to be moving and yet my clothes feel looser. They do say you can lose inches and not pounds dont they. I think I can blame this partially on my not smoking, its almost 4 weeks now. At last my tummy is not so sore, and dont let that put you pre-bandsters off, I had one band removed and a new one put in as the old band was leaking, so it was a sort of double op, pain-wise. Sammy you poor thing, that wind pain is a nightmare, but mine was easily cured with just one Remegel, and it never came back. I know I've missed so many posts and the latest news and also newbies, but will try to catch up somehow. I hope everyone is good :tt1:
  5. You have my sympathy Poppy, I'm so sorry, I know how I felt. But i was so delighted that I could eat anything , that I did and when I went for my second op a couple of weeks ago I was heavier than when I started the first time. Its so hard. Who was the manufacturer of your band, do you know, or can you find out? Mine gave me a new band for free after my surgeon tormented them. My daughter went with THG 8 months before I had mine done and she's great, she's lost a whopping 8 stone. You are lucky to have the support of your GP, keep us posted and let us know how you are getting on.xxx
  6. Yes i had a leaking band. In Feb 2008, after being banded in 2005, I woke up one day with no restriction whatsoever. I went for a fill, and the next day nothing had changed. To cut it short, I paid over £250 for a contrast study scn/x-ray to ascertain where the hole was. The x-rays showed that it was the actual band. But 2 weeks ago when I had a new band implanted ( yes had to pay again, but got a discount) the surgeon confirmed that the actual hole was in the tubing, and not in the band. I hope that helps you chick, if you want to know anything else ask away, or pm me.
  7. Good luck Fatpants, though I know you'll be fine hunny, will be thinking of you. Mandy great news chick, the time will fly by, once its booked that always happens. Big sis please make sure there's plenty of madras, pappadoms and mango chutney and I'll be sorted...tell you what I wish I was coming and could shovel that lot down, I would be in heaven. No wait...thats why I had to have the band in the first place... duh!!! Next saturday is the surprise party for my baby daughter who goes to Australia for 12 months with her young man. God I am going to miss her so much, she's my best friend. She has changed roles with my eldest daughter who now has a life after losing 8 stone, going to uni and meeting a new man, and is now pregnant. She still has her band, but has a lot of acid reflux (since before the pregnancy) and she seems to still be losing weight.
  8. Thanx Big sis, I still have a bit of pain, but I know I am doing too much, I havent really given my body a chance to heal inside. But I'll be fine. Fatpants I am so excited for you, I know exactly how you are feeling, apprehension is the fear of the unknown and if you didnt feel that way I would be surprised. This time next week it will all be over and done with and you'll be such a loser  Was it Sammy that was going for a holiday and then getting banded or am I dreaming? I know its the girl with the little baby, sorry memory is hopless atm.:blushing: What date was her surgery, anyone remember?
  9. Wishful next time you see Vanessa tell her to get her butt back on this board, life is too short to be at loggerheads. tell her everyone will be glad to hear from her, I'm sure everyone feels the same. Forgive and forget I say.:w00t: Hi to KaKa's daughter, you have done so great, you should be really proud of yourself.
  10. what Mmm means is, it gives you the fartys Mandy but she's too nice to say it. Oh no Garry, dont say that..... my last band wasnt like that. It is very tender but not inflamed, just sticks up...I spose there's time for it to go down yet though Mooster. It woke me up last night because of the discomfort.:crying:
  11. :w00t::rofl: Mmm you are bad, you just made me spit my coffee all over the keyboard...I dont belive you did that. Good luck to you Mandy, listen to the girls on here they know what they are talking about. Welcome Samspk, hope you get banded asap. KaKa 9lbs????? Wow she has done really well, I've only lost 3 kilos, since before I started the pre-op diet and had the surgery. But I think the no smoking is stopping me losing cos I keep turning to food....not a good thing.:mad2: Also the area where my port is is so swollen its sticking up for fine weather when I lie down, it seems really big!!! Did anyone else have this?:wink2:
  12. Shoes Thanx for your kindness, and am so glad you told the truth, because we all need that. I hope each day will make us a little stronger. I have just filled one of those vacuum bags with summer clothing to make some space in my wardrobe and my tum is hurting now. I have an excuse to sit at the pc.:wink2: Very well done on your weight loss, you are a star.:mad2: Dr Chris comes across again:thumbup:
  13. hey Mandy, dont be a stranger, remember we're all losers here sorry, it wasnt that funny.
  14. Thanx Fatpants i have replied. I know what you mean Flirty, there's nothing better than a good laff...its good for the soul. Keep up the good work all of you xxx:thumbup:
  15. I think you're all meanies, I'm on FB too, but you havent made me your friend so i can see your piccys
  16. I just have this to say to Flirty and Garry
  17. Hunny try not to care about what people think, its your body and you are now in control of it. You took the first, hardest step. Even the nurse who took out my stitches said to me today, I think you are very brave to get surgery:eek: And we are, all of us. I hope my weight comes off as fast as yours chick, though I have got a raging appetite now, since packing in smoking, its doubly hard. But I feel so much better and walk faster too, my hubby is amazed.
  18. Poor you Garry, that looks like my tum, its swollen too, but just around the midriff area. So how is it going to disperse? Mmm, :crying:...ok its a date, that will be nice and fresh sitting outside, in case the currys too hot. If you drive, I'll bring the booze.
  19. I still think its excellent, and you were so good sticking to the pre-op diet. I did mine for about a week, because I was on holiday and I lost about 4 lbs, which was ok, but a struggle toward the end, so you have done marvellously. I wouldnt tell them about your band if you feel that way, you know your family better than anyone, and its too personal I think. People in general seem to think its an easy way out, but we all know its not. We still have to work with the band.
  20. Sorry Garry i didnt see your post until after I had done mine. I hope you are sure about this....ok well I have copied and pasted what I sent to Big Sis and Mmm...so here goes. The meeting was a great success, the Ward manager, surgeon and the matron were all there. We have cleared matters up considerably, they explained why my Mum was rambling and hallucinating, and it seems that its the delayed shock, and the trauma of major surgery, which contribute to this in a person of her age. They have said that she may never return to normal and this may be the next stage of her Dimensia (sadly). They admitted to not monitoring her closely enough and this will improve considerably and the Sister apologised that we hadnt had the chance to meet. Personally I believe if I hadnt been going into hospital myself I would have spoken with her to discuss Mum much sooner than today. They showed me in Mum's notes that they keep at the end of the bed there are a few pages for the staff to write any info for the family and for us to reply, if need be. I didnt know this. They say she will be up and down all the time until her health finally stabilises. They also told me that she was bleeding badly internally as well as the bleed she had before surgery, which is why it was delayed until they could give her more blood. All of these factors have contributed to her lapses in recovery, and why she's away with the fairies. My girls said they were impressed with the way I handled everything and covered all points so well, and coming from them (especially Rachel who knows everything, cos she's got a BA honors degree lol) and Sarah who has 11 Gcse' and 4 A levels this is a big compliment, cos they usually tell me how senile and stupid I am. I had my stitches out and it hurt a bit, the nurse said they were red and inflamed and scabby (thanx for that lol) but should heal ok as soon as the scabs came off. I have to use vaseline. So I feel a lot better today, thats the update. You see only needed to be told what exactly was going on with my Mum, to understand and appreciate just what they were all doing for her. Thank you everyone for your support. xxx
  21. Wishful, just looked at your date of surgery and its only 7 weeks ago, and already yo u have lost 2 stone?????? Bloody marvelous, very well done!!!! I only lost that in 2 years with my faulty band, so good on ya girl. I hope i have that much progress with this new one. Hoppe And anything you need to know will have been asked on here before cos we all have the same issues, so dont be afraid to ask. Just enjoy!!!
