  1. My surgery is on the 8th and I am feeling super nervous about it all. It's not about the surgery itself as much as it is about the lifestyle changes that come with it. I don't have to even give myself a reminder as to why I am going through with this because my body is letting me know on a daily basis. However, food has been kind of my go-to for all my life. From grieving to celebrating, food has always been part of it. I am having a hard time thinking about what else there is to do. Occasionally, I tell my husband that I would like to go on a date and it is almost always a dinner and movie scenario. I know we can still go to the movies and dinner, but I don't think I'd be happy with that anymore. I would be sitting in a place that smelled like the food I enjoy, knowing that I can't sit there and eat like I used to (regardless if I wanted to or not). Those with a S/O from your fat days, what are dates like now? What do you do together? Any suggestions? My husband and I are a couple of nerds if that helps any.
  2. I'm almost 4 months post-op RNY and I can eat popcorn without any issues.

    Any use intermittent fasting?

I am not sure how far out you are, but I personally wouldn't recommend IF. If you can only eat a limited amount of food as is right now, you won't be able to get the nutrients you need in one meal.

    Water

I have been incredibly lucky with this. I can pretty much chug water without any issues (2, almost 3 months out). I try to make sure I am consistently drinking throughout the day and more often than not, I meet my goal.

Recent RNY - How ya doing?

I had RNY on June 8th and I feel amazing. I healed fine without any complications. I am currently down 44lbs (74lbs total) since surgery. I probably would have lost more if I had made a few better decisions, but I am incredibly happy with my decision and am happy that it's working out for me.

    CPAP use requirement

I didn't have any requirements like that when going for my surgery, but it was really hard for me to get comfortable using my CPAP machine. What worked for me was trying on several different masks until one felt "natural". The problem for most of us, I think, is that we are reacting to feeling suffocated and while half-awake, we just yank the damn thing off.

    Calories per day?

There is no calorie goal at this point. You are literally just trying to get in that protein before anything else.
  8. Hi everyone! I made some weight loss trackers and thought I would share them for free. They are in my highlights on Instagram. Just screenshot, crop, and fill them in! I just ask that you credit me if you repost them. Thanks! https://www.instagram.com/stephiverse/ Here is the one I'm using:

    JUNE 2020 BYPASSERS

I honestly feel amazing. I am down 11kg (25lbs) since surgery on June 9th. I had a bit of a stall on week 4, but I am killing it this week. I work out every day via rhythm games like StepMania and Beat Saber for AT LEAST an hour, but I try to go for 2+ hours. I get about 80-85g of protein in a day, while also drinking 1.5L of water, and keeping my carbs below 30g (primarily from veggies/fruits). I hope everyone else is doing well too. I haven't been super active here, but I am almost always sitting on Instagram!! LOL If anyone wants to follow me, you can! @Stephiverse -- I am sharing my progress, journey, and a whole lot of complaints there. There is a great community available. I will try to be on the forums a bit more tho!

    Date Suggestions

Well, we went on our first 'date' since surgery.. and it had nothing to do with food! We went to a zoo together! Lol It was actually a great time. It was a little bit driving around in some areas, and a whole lot of walking in other areas. I felt great that I could walk around as much as I did that day while enjoying nature!
  11. How do you deal with those close around you still eating the way you used to? My husband was frying up some meatballs and I was in tears contemplating actually trying to eat one (and I am just 3 days post-op). I ended up freaking out on him for even making them - brought up the 10 hotdogs he ate next to me the past two days and 4 sandwiches he had as a snack while we were in bed last night.. I mean, I am just so upset with him. I wanted him to be supportive and he just thought that meant he should run for me.. How do you deal?

@LoseWeight2020 Ugh! That sounds horrible! I am sorry you went through that.
  13. "5 more days.." is the phrase I've been telling myself on repeat for a few hours now.. I swear my whole neighborhood is making BBQ today! It smells so good. I am ready for some real food!! 😩

5 more days.. 5 more days..

Oh, man! I am supposed to be on liquids for the first two weeks, but their "liquids" include thicker stuff like drinking yogurt and blended soup. Wonder if I would be okay to have something heavier now, like mashed potatoes. Ugh! Just want a taste of something that isn't those two things right now. >.<

5 more days.. 5 more days..

Oh, did you only have a liquid stage for the first week after surgery??

On a good note - I am one week post op! One more week of liquids and I will be onto soft foods. I am getting real tired of blended soup and drinking yogurt!

I shouldn't have bragged. I gained a 100g! LOL I am thinking its because of my lack of a poop the past couple days. Hoping these meds kick in soon.

Yeah, we were told that it's better to call "too much" than to not and end up doing something that might be harmful. I couldn't agree more with it!
  20. I thought I was going to stop sharing, but I've been very public about it myself. I made a big Instagram post about it and posted a picture of me in recovery (@mrs.svejgaard if anyone is interested). I want to document my progress and if that helps other people, then I would be more than happy to be an inspiration to others.

That's good to hear, @Losingit2018! I was getting pretty nervous. I even called my hospital where I had surgery to ask, but since its the weekend, the specialists weren't in the office. I am still going to call Monday, though. I am not sure if I should be sticking to 100ml or if its okay to do 100ml-200ml per half hour. Tomorrow will have been a week since surgery. I've lost roughly 7.5lbs so far! *happy dance*
  22. I had my RNY surgery on the 8th! Everything went smoothly and while I am in some pain, I am recovering! Slowly introducing more variety into my liquid diet here, but everything seems to be going down just fine. My neck hurts a ton -- any advice on handling that?
  23. BoredFatGirl

Guess this is my new hangout forum!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will see about getting something like this! My neck is feeling a bit better now, but definitely still sore. I had a friend sending me some heating pads in the mail, so will wait to see how those work.

How do you deal? It's so hard..

We live in a tiny apartment for the two of us. My office is located in the living room, which is connected to the dining room and kitchen. I smell everything. It would be a hard task for him to cook while I am not near. I also acknowledge the fact that it's simply not fair to him that he has to go through what I am going through. I had hoped he would be a bit more sensitive to what I am dealing with, but as many have said, this is something I need to get through on my own. He and I have both talked in a calmer matter now, though. There won't be anymore snacking in our bedroom. For the rest of these two weeks, he will eat more of the 'quick things' we have in the house (sandwiches, etc) instead of cooking or he can grab fast food and eat in his car. I still wish that I could have ignored it altogether. I had got so emotional over the smell of fried food and it makes me really feel disgusting. I thought I was doing great until yesterday when I lost my **** over it.

How do you deal? It's so hard..

The man has a phobia of veggies and fruits (not joking), chugs 2 liters of coke daily, and puts down more food than I can imagine and is still a slim guy. Its infuriating!
