aelgin7779 got a reaction from chalcrow in Nausea TroubleI have been nauseous since starting the vitamins we're required to take. I'm talking so bad that I have to force ice chips and sips of liquid to stay down. It's absolutely miserable to be nauseous like this. I've looked at the ginger candy but it has loads of sugar so can't do that. They had me hold my protein shakes to see if that was the cause but it wasn't. I was completely fine until I started the vitamins. I'm waiting to hear from my doctor to see if there's an alternative for me -
aelgin7779 reacted to ckrewer in Nausea TroubleI am a month out of sleeve surgery and the nausea started a few days ago. It is bad. I do not want to eat but I know I have to eat. It is very difficult for me right now because I feel sick all the time. I do not like ginger so that route is out. I absolutely HATE the vitamins I am taking, to the point of I would rather not take them. I also have cancer, so my oncologist prescribed me something for nausea. I am hoping that works.

aelgin7779 reacted to Tomkat in How are my fellow December surgeries doing?I had the sleeve on 12/9. Lost 23.2 lbs since surgery. 21 on the liquid diet prior to that. So down 44lbs since 11/18/19. I can feel a difference, but can’t see one. And I feel like it’s coming off at a snails pace. But as long as the scale is down, not up, I’ll take it as a win!

aelgin7779 reacted to Starwarsandcupcakes in December 2019 Sleevers, how are you doing? What’s your stats?Sleeve surgery 12/17 and down 10.5lbs. I definitely feel like it should be more than that but happy with any progress.

I hated the chewable vitamins, after the first week I bought the vitamin patches off of this site and so far so good! Consider trying them, I haven’t felt nauseous using them so far -
aelgin7779 got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in December 2019 Sleevers, how are you doing? What’s your stats?Wow! You all are doing so good! I was sleeved 12/24 and am only down 9 pounds since surgery. I'm constantly nauseous and am beginning to think it's the vitamins we're required to take because I was breezing through until I started those week 3. I cannot stand to be nauseous!!! I am in phase 3 of the post-op diet which is the soft food stage. I am able to eat about 1.5 ounces of tuna or egg but chicken makes me gag the minute I smell it. Hearing everyone else's results makes me think I'm not doing something right :( -
aelgin7779 reacted to JRT Mom in Week 3-4 food suggestions or recipesSearch on Google for "Eggface's Ricotta Bake" If you can eat cottage cheese you can have ricotta. That recipe is delish! I also like to take refried beans, smear them out in the bottom of a little bowl, put in some tabasco and sprinkle cheese on the top, and nuke it til the cheese melts. Good protein there, and OK on the soft diet I was given.
Good luck and Bon Appétit!

aelgin7779 reacted to S@ssen@ch in Every multi vitamin makes me sickI had this problem at the beginning. Every MVI I took, no matter which brand or method made me nauseated and dizzy.
I started with the patches, but I developed a sensitivity to the adhesive. I tried different brands of chewables, both the chalky and the ones like a starburst. I tried taking them different times of the day, with/without food. It was misery and made me afraid to take them.
I finally settled on Vitafusion gummies, with my evening meal. They have some sugar in them, but I would have done about anything to keep from getting sick every time I took them, so I decided it was a fair trade-off since they were the only ones that didn't make me sick. I took those for maybe 6 months until I worked up the nerve to try just a regular Women's One-a-Day.
I suspect the biggest issue was the time of day and whether I took it with food because I always got sickest if I took them in the morning (regardless of with or without food).
Definitely contact your team, but I'd say that it's going to be a bit of trial and error for you. It certainly was for me.

aelgin7779 reacted to carterb in Every multi vitamin makes me sickHi there,
I'm sure this has been said before, but every single multivitamin I've taken makes me so nauseated. I've tried different ones and I've even thrown up from them. What do I do?

aelgin7779 reacted to newlady1 in Vitamin Struggle!!Funny i just changed my vitamins today to the bariatric chewables. I'm 5 weeks postop and i started with the multivitamin pills, they are too large for me to swallow. I have a hard time swallowing medium - large pills. Then i tried the multivitamin crystals, you mix with water. This took forever to drink. So now I'm trying the chewables. We'll see!!! I think it's important to find the right combo for you. The patches might work for you too.

aelgin7779 reacted to Bariatric Brad in I cant stomach vitaminsI had a very similar challenge. I was sick to my stomach for 6 straight weeks post-op and determined it was the multi I was taking, just too strong for my stomach. I switched to VitaCraves adult multi gummy and take an iron gummy too and it has made a world of difference. No puking and able to eat food and keep it down. You just need to find what works for you. All vitamins are not created equally.

aelgin7779 reacted to Tamalove95 in Nausea TroubleI am 1 month and a week out from my gastric sleeve. I struggle with bad nausea, and despite medication and going to ER for dehydration, the nausea just keeps coming back. I am wondering if anyone else struggles with bad nausea since weightloss surgery, or is it just me?

Hi Everyone,
Great to hear that I'm not alone! I was sleeved on 12/30/19. I have been down almost 25 pounds since last Thursday. I started puree stage then and since, then the scale has gone up a little then down. I know that my body is trying to adjust I'm sure. I am eating puree 3x a day, about 2 oz of cottage cheese with a little bit of peach puree, scrambled egg, chicken, a little spinach puree, and light soup. I am really struggling to getting more than 48 oz of water. Very tired of protein shakes, ugh and a wee bit of nausea now and again. Been walking around the block, doing light arm and leg exercises. My next Dr appt is in 3 months! He told me to start on regular food at week 4, no more puree. I eat slow and sometimes can feel it, other times I don't feel restriction at all, depending on the food. I'm so worried about stretching out my pouch! I am averaging about 500-600 calories per day.

I had the sleeve on 12/17 and I am down 22 pounds. I have definitely stalled though. I was losing a pound a day but I have not lost anything in about 5 days. I am hoping the weight loss will start back up again. Any thoughts would be helpful. I am on soft foods. I do have a complication of having cancer as well. I am on an oral chemo pill for two weeks and then off for one week. I just finished my first cancer pill cycle post-surgery. Things were fine for the first week and a half but I have been feeling awful for the last 5 days. The thought of food makes me want to throw up, but I know I have to eat. So, I am having a hard time with this new cancer pill wrinkle thrown in. I am hoping I will eventually get used to everything.

You’re doing amazing I am 2 weeks out and 9.8 pounds down as of today. I started purée today! I made egg salad and I am making taco soup. They will both last me all week. I will be doing refried beans and cheese, ricotta bake, and chicken salad next week. -
I had surgery Dec. 23rd and have lost 25 pounds in the last 2 weeks, For this week I haven’t lost any weight which is fine. My doctor told me I can try 1 ounce soft chicken, eggs things like that and after having 1 ounce of it , I’m still so hungry and don’t feel full at all .... -
That is so awesome! My surgery was 12/30. I’m having a hard time meeting my goals ?? -
On Monday I'll hit 6 weeks out of surgery and have lost 32ish lbs. I'm on my cycle now, so I'm guessing that's why I haven't lost so much this week lol

aelgin7779 reacted to catwoman7 in Sleeve ba. bypassthey're both pretty invasive - just in different ways. Cutting out 80% of your stomach and throwing it in the trash is pretty darn invasive...
there are sometimes medical issues that would make one surgery or the other more appropriate. I had GERD pre-surgery, so it was a no-brainer for me - bypass. Sleeve can often (but not always) make that worse. Bypass can often (but not always) improve (if not outright cure) it.
if you have no medical issues, then either is a good option. There are plenty of examples of people successful with either surgery.

aelgin7779 reacted to fit.kelz in December 2019 Sleeveshi all! had my surgery christmas eve and currently sitting in the waiting room for my first post-op appointment. feeling great but REALLY struggling with the liquid diet, i’m getting everything in without difficulty i’m just so over ten days of this that i’m actually getting really depressed and anxious. i had no idea this would be the hardest part, it’s not even that i’m hungry or crave anything i just hate the taste of these protein drinks and they’re so artificial that i hate the idea of investing them. i’m hoping i’ve been doing well enough that maybe my doc will let me start purée early so i can get protein through real nutrients, fingers crossed.
my first post here so i look forward to posting more and hearing about all your journeys as i embark on mine. happy new year!

aelgin7779 reacted to jersey irish girl in December 2019 SleevesSleeve date; 12/18. So I’m only 4 days post op. Already bored trying to drink only clear liquids. My dr has me on clear liquid wk 1, the full liquid wk 2, I don’t eat solids until wk 5.
Anyway - the best drink I’ve liked so far is gateorade zero berry with 1 scoop of unflavored isopure (25g protein). It’s not overly sweet like the premier clear liquids.
its only been 4 days, I haven’t weighed myself yet, I’m trying to hold off until my 1 wk post op day. I do “feel” lighter. Gas pains are finally gone - still have some incision pain & getting up and down pain. I started walking around the block yesterday (16 min) but it’s a start.
The thing that’s driving me crazy is I quit Smoking b4 surgery and all I can think about is a cigarette. I just broke down and had half a cig so I could see how gross it would taste and not want it anymore. That’s some crazy addictive brain reasoning I know.

aelgin7779 reacted to Fat2FabMyWay in December 2019 SleevesHi everyone!! New here and just had my VSG on 12/18. Horrendous nausea the first day but have been okay since. No real pain, just what I would describe as muscle soreness around the incisions if I move weird, so I didn’t even fill my pain med prescription. I had to do Clear Liquids for the first 2 days and really struggled with it - I didn’t get anywhere near the amount of Protein or Water that I should have. Today was the first day back on a “full liquid” diet prescribed by my doctor & I was able to get the shakes, half a clear Protein Drink, and a cup of Soup in.
Today was also the first day I’ve really been around other people who were eating normally and it was a real struggle. Between the smells and just seeing the food, I felt like I was starving but I know that had to just be in my head. Anyone have any tips for getting through that? I’m afraid this just means my mental/emotional issues with food are going to waylay me much sooner than I anticipated. ?
