  1. I appreciate that, thank you!
  2. Awesome to hear!! I also watch a lot of videos and do a lot of research. I feel that the more knowledgeable I am about the surgery, the more I feel comfortable with my decision!
  3. Oh man yeah it was really convenient to get everything done in one day. Did my preop labs yesterday, met anesthesia, RT, pharmacist first. Then pre registered. Went to the financial office to pay my deductible of $250 and then went and met with surgeon & surgical nurse. Got my binder with all of my info for before and after. Have to do 10 days of preop diet!
  4. Only some of my coworkers know what I’m having, I didn’t really want to say to the whole office what I’m having either. Don’t worry about her, she’ll be okay!! My surgeon also said 2-3 weeks for me as well.
  5. I went into this also not knowing if I wanted the surgery but my insurance required 6 months of doctors visits (among other requirements) and that was the perfect amount of time for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I went to each visit “unsure” and my pcp supported my indecisiveness and never pushed me to do it; or not. Take this time to research everything, the good, the bad, the ugly. Make the decision based off of how you feel about what you’ve found. Get minimal opinions from others (I only discussed it with my spouse, mom, & MIL) and even then their opinions were taken with a grain of salt.
  6. Mine is also scheduled for December 16th
  7. Congratulations!! My sleeve date is also set for 12/16, I go today for my pre op visit. Even that had me a bit nervous lol
  8. Thank you! Great advice, I’m learning to navigate the site and will try to make some friends!
  9. Thank you!! Yes I’ve seen so many people who say they wanted this so bad, regretted and now are grateful for it. As well as the other way around, were scared but ended up with no complications and hardly any pain. I’m a pretty strong person and have a great support system BUT I know this is a life change and I pray my strength continues mentally. I’m trying to prepare myself for “the worst” (as far as healing, pain, learning to use my new tool, transitioning into a new phase, etc.) but hopeful for the best experience!
  10. Good morning!! I’m very new here, I ran across the site yesterday and thought I’d go ahead and sign up! I’m 29 years old and a mom of 2. I just got married March 29th this year but we’ve been together for 7 years! I started my journey March 22nd, 2019. I went to my initial consult one week before my wedding day lol. I didn’t know if I really wanted to have surgery at that point but the thought had crossed my mind many times so I began the process. I waited until after our honeymoon and for the wedding excitement to calm a bit before starting monthly PCP visits. At my consult in March I was 292lb but at my visit to my pcp in May I was 312lb...wtf lol. Happy weight maybe? It needed to go..since my 2nd PCP visit on 6/25/19 I’ve lost 30lb so I’m pretty happy with the work I’ve put in so far. My husband had no idea I weighed over 300lb but I’m “proportionate” so it’s hard to tell exactly, but I knew. Anyway. I spent my 6 months researching and educating myself on this surgery, reading others stories, the good and the bad. I’m definitely having the surgery and I’m excited! Today is actually my pre op visit with surgery set for December 16th! I’m open to any advice, suggestions, or stories! I’m excited to y’all with you guys!
