PeachPerfect reacted to Bianca S. in August 2019 Check InHave you tried it yet? I love anything pumpkin haha -
PeachPerfect reacted to Tracyringo in Venting my strugglesYou are not failing. You are still in the early stages and it takes awhile to get a new normal. Take a deep breath and try to relax. You can always go back to scrambled eggs and greek yogurt. It took me awhile to be able to eat more then a few bites of solids, but it will happen. Things will feel normal again down the road.
The reflux sucks and your Dr. may want to give you a different prescription. I was given 3 different kinds before it was the right one . Good luck

PeachPerfect got a reaction from Deedee12 in August 2019 Check InThats awesome! Congrats on getting back to work so smoothly. I love to hear it.
If I can offer up an interesting recipe, Wild Planet cans (tuna and salmon) are really good quality and really high in protein. I like to take the tuna, add some cottage cheese, smoke gouda spread, and franks red hot sauce for a sort of... buffalo tuna salad.

PeachPerfect reacted to momof3_angels in Husband is stressing me out pre-opThanks. He gets this way when he is stressed out. I have known this about him for our entire 23 year marriage. He can totally be an a*****e, but I know when to just ignore him most of the time. I just don't need this right now. This is about me, not him. And you just said it: "Not the easy way out". I think he and my daughter both think I am taking the easy way out. I am just sad to be reminded that I get more support from my co-worker who has been through this than my husband/daughter. He is trying. I know he is. And I know he will take care of me in the hospital and when I get home. But I could really use their support emotionally.
Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement!

PeachPerfect got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Husband is stressing me out pre-opI don't know how you and your husband usually interact, but I'm glad you were able to tell him his berating was hurting and that his response was to apologize. You should always let him know when his words hurt you. That is not something to deal with, and I'm sure he wouldn't want you to.
There is nothing easy about this surgery. This is absolutely not the easy way out, this is life changing, and you're doing it to change your life for the better. Rooting for you!

PeachPerfect reacted to momof3_angels in Husband is stressing me out pre-opVent warning! So, yesterday I worked my last shift at work, I have the weekend and the holiday off normally, then Tuesday I am off for another doctors appointment (unrelated). Surgery is Wednesday. I am ready. A little nervous, but mostly excited and anxious to get this done. Hubby is home for his normal day off. All he is doing is giving me crap about the unnecessary surgery and how I can lose all the weight if I just diet more and walk at least 5 miles a day. He conveniently has forgotten that I gained all the weight when I hit 40 and was doing EVERYTHING RIGHT! Including also walking EVERYWHERE. He also conveniently forgets all my failed diet and exercise attempts and how my health has been steadily going down hill with the weight gain. Or how many times he has helped to sabotage me. He is TRYING to be supportive, but he is berating and mocking me at every chance he gets. I know this is his stress talking. He is so afraid of surgery and he thinks of this as an elective/unnecessary procedure. HIS surgeries have complications. Mine are always fine thus far. I see it as a necessary procedure to help me regain my health. Anyhow... he was awful this morning. I finally got angry and nearly broke down in tears. When that happened he finally got his **** together and said he is supporting me. If he wasn't supporting me he would now have gotten time off of work to help me or drive me to/from the hospital. But that doesn't change what a jerk he is being. Just so frustrated! And of course, time feels slower now that I am so close. Need to move the clock forward. I desperately want to get past the surgery so he can stop freaking out and I can start recovering!

Your body is going through rapid to change. Be kind to yourself
As women. I think we are too critical about out perceived flaws. We put a lot of value on our appearance. I hope your weight loss and new found energy will boost your self esteem. See how you feel about loose skin after goal. Decide if its livable or you can investigate plastics.
It may be time to work on soothing emotions with food. We are all a work in progress.☺️

PeachPerfect reacted to Azlanie in August 2019 Check InToday is my first day back at work in the office. I packed several protein shakes and my little baby food cups of beans and cottage cheese as I am on the puree stage. It feels good to be back in and to get some normalcy back into my routine. It has been so much easier to eat on schedule at work, to remember to take all of my supplements and to get a decent amount of water down.
I still feel like I have an excess of gas (I am very quietly belching, for the most part) and I am looking forward to going home and taking a small walk around the apartment complex. I am just past two weeks post op and I feel pretty good! I feel like I am losing weight at a consistent rate, I noticed it was not as hard to run up the steps for work this morning as it had been in the past.
My goals for next week: Weigh myself weekly, hit my water goal every day, and experiment with different foods that I have thus far not been able to really eat due to the full liquids I have now passed.

PeachPerfect reacted to MeepMeep in ITCHY! Can I put lotion around my incisions?I put lotion on my incisions with no problems. If you’re still questioning it, start with something like Neosporin or hydrocortisone cream.
-
If you want to avoid creams and lotions you can try putting an ice pack wrapped in a towel. It will numb the area slightly and help with the itching.
-
PeachPerfect reacted to Bastian in ITCHY! Can I put lotion around my incisions? The best thing would be an antihistamine tablet and some unscented lotion for the dry skin 3 weeks out the wounds are closed on top. so as long as you don't pick at them all will be well.

PeachPerfect reacted to gabybab in ITCHY! Can I put lotion around my incisions?Maybe try a hydrocortisone cream. It would help with itching. Good luck!

PeachPerfect reacted to FluffyChix in Help!Ok, yes! Be hard on yourself. WTF? Seriously. Call your surgeon and get a referral to your RD and to the bariatric counselor. Start therapy now. This may sound harsh? But you are 4 WEEKS post op! This is the "easiest" and the "hardest" you will ever have it and the time you will feel LEAST like eating in your entire journey. Cuz barring complications like it sounds like you're asking for, your restriction will get increasingly less and less as the months go by and you continue to heal and evolve. You either take care of your food/behavior problems now? Or you could be doomed to either never see goal, or regain.
Tough? Fu*k yes. I am being tough and shocking. I hope it shocks you into getting a grip and getting real with your bad choices.
It begs to be asked...Why did you have this life-changing surgery if you weren't ready to get serious about living a new life? Ask yourself, WHAT IS YOUR WHY? WHY did you want the surgery? WHY did you want a new lease on life? How important are YOU? How important is your marriage? Your LIFE?
(Seriously one of the saddest posts I've ever read and I've read a bunch including a post-op eating pizza at 4 days.)

PeachPerfect got a reaction from Bastian in August 2019 Check InDid your surgeon not tell you to cut out milk? Even on my post-op diet I'm not allowed milk (make sure any soup you have is a clear broth, if it tastes really good you probably shouldn't be allowed it lol --thats what my doctor says). I also use a protein powder that mixes with water and makes a juice (not a shake). It's called Isopure and the Mango-lime flavor is my jam.
If you're having trouble keeping your liquids down, I would recommend doing all of your drinking standing up. I had a really hard time when I first came home. I was taking pain medication before the last dose could wear off, doing all of my drinking standing up while walking around very slowly, and I propped myself up with pillows at night so I didn't go to sleep flat on my back (for some reason that was so uncomfortable). It wont stay this bad, it's less than two weeks later for me and I haven't taken a single pill for pain today.

I bought new clothes far too often. It was just so exciting to keep getting smaller and smaller sizes! I started out wearing a size 22 and a year later I am now in 10's. I'm about 5'7", 151 lbs, 53 yrs old. My Dr and I are very happy where I'm at so I think my wardrobe is staying put where it is. I think thrift stores are a great idea at least for the transitioning sizes, although truth be told I ended up buying all my stuff new, usually at Marshall's, Target, or Kohl's, and on sale. So many clothes to choose from when you get into regular sizes! Good luck and enjoy!

PeachPerfect got a reaction from BoredCW in How many times did you have to change your wardrobe?I'm just a few weeks post-op, so I haven't even dared to wear a pare of jeans yet, but I've dropped 20+ lbs and my feet seem to have shrunk ???? I can't do anything about the new white snake skin sneakers I got 2 months ago that now fit like clown shoes, but I do plan on turning anything clothes I outgrow into something I wear while I paint!

PeachPerfect reacted to curlygirlgetsfit in Finally SleevedSurgery went well on the 21st. I was about 97% gas pain free. It seems like I didn’t even have surgery. The main incision site hurts so much. I’m able to do a lot of things on my own. I guess I got lucky w| my recovery process as I can do a lot by myself than most ppl who just had the surgery. If you guys have IG, please follow me! @CurlyGirl_GetsFit ☺️ -
