Blackangel21 got a reaction from Ohcinders in Eating disorder preopin my pre-op stages to get the sleeve I'm realizing how much I was an emotional eater because I'm trying to watch what I'm eating and do what the doctor is telling me to do. Did anybody suffer from your stomach feeling full but your brain doesn't? I drunk a smoothie they had strawberry papaya, squash and zucchini my stomach feels full but in my mind I want to eat? When you have the surgery does that go away or is it just self-discipline?

Blackangel21 reacted to ish_sheddingitall in SweetsYou’re lucky. Sweets are my nemesis -
Blackangel21 reacted to AZhiker in SweetsI gave up ALL sugar in any form prior to surgery. I had already given up wheat years ago, but once the sugar was gone, guess what? My joints never hurt again. Sugar is the most inflammatory food on the planet (with wheat next in line). Once you are off sugar, you will lose your craving for it, but just one little bite can cause the cravings to come back instantly. This all has to do with brain chemistry. Do you know that sugar activates the same brain receptors as cocaine? I know everyone must make their own choices about what they will eat, but I would encourage you not to sabotage your success by a few seconds of sweetness. Fruit is plenty sweet for me now. Some Greek yoghurt with fruit is so delicious - and guilt free!

Blackangel21 reacted to Healthy_life2 in SweetsWe are adults, we make our own food choices. We get to decide how strict or lax we want to be. Make sure your choices won’t slow or stop your weight loss. Your first months will be your best loss. Your weight loss will slow down as you progress. Take advantage of your first year, decide right now how you want to work your plan.
Be mindful of slider foods and foods that trigger you. Some can have a Hershey’s kiss and stop. Others can’t stop. Once you add sugars, extra carbs and calories into your diet you crave them more and they cause hunger.
My preference is healthy options for sweet and salty for cravings. Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. (many flavors) I dip strawberries in sugar free cholate syrup. Sugar free popsicles in the summer. Quest bar on occasion.
I’m maintaining. I indulge within reason.

Blackangel21 reacted to Cheeseburgh in Spicy foodsI could tolerate slightly higher than mild prior, maybe a hint of jalapeño and a few red pepper flakes. I can handle much more now and find myself increasing spice when I cook Mexican, Thai or curry. If I were to assign a number on a 1-10 scale; I’d say I was a 3.5 before and now a 6.5.
I don’t recall my first spicy meal, but if I had to guess it would have been lean ground beef (97%) lettuce taco wraps.
my theory is since I eat so little, I want what I’m eating to have a lot of flavor.
edited to add, my new favorite spicy thing are baked ground chicken meatballs made with sambal.

Blackangel21 reacted to Dfox1984 in Ten month before and after picsHad my sleeve surgery June 26th, 2018. I’ve lost about 120 pounds total. I’m at 165 right now (goal was 180). I’m ready for a tummy tuck and breast lift!!! But after trying on my new BIKINI today I’m thinking maybe I should save the $20k and just enjoy a being skinny with a little bit of extra skin lol. I just wanted to show some before and after pics bc I know that looking at other people’s helped me when I needed some motivation and hope! So here they are! I’m happy, healthy, and proud of where I am!

Blackangel21 reacted to KCgirl061 in Spicy foodsI did! First thing I did when I was cleared to puree I went to eat Indian food. They only thing to keep in mind is that you can't drink while you eat so you may need to keep the spice level down to where you can tolerate it without water.

Blackangel21 reacted to GradyCat in What to eatYou're not really restricted to what foods you can eat, but a sensible diet plan is suggested where you avoid fats, sugar, and starches and concentrate on getting in 60 g of protein each day. Imagine a plate and fill it with 1/2 protein, 1/4 veggies and 1/4 grains/starches. You eat the protein first. If you're full, stop eating. If you're not full, move on to the veggies. Same thing, if you're full, stop eating. Always eat protein first.
