  1. Remember, men lose 2 times as fast so females can't go by what a man experiences.
  2. I think you are losing just fine. I had surgery on October 1 and weighed 285 that day. Today I'm 266.....for two weeks I stayed at 270...stall already......So..I've only lost 19 lbs. It's slow compared to others but still happy to be slowly losing. I do wonder why i did this to myself sometimes. I thought with RNY you were supposed to lose faster.
  3. I definitely relate...Just had bypass on October 1. I wanted the sleeve for me and so did my primary but my surgeon said I needed the bypass because I was over 300 lbs. The sleeve is for smaller people he said. The bypass is known for it's complications which is why I didn't want it and of course...I got the complications. I've had so many complications and you can prepare all you want mentall and with psych appointments but nothing "really" prepares you for this. Yes, I miss real food. I'm also looosing sooo slow. Here is the thing, I already did this to myself and now I guess I need to make the best of it. This surgery landed me in the hospital 2 weeks later. Thank god I had insurance I saw those bills. $85,000.00 for the hospital on the surgery and $35,000.00 for the 2nd hosptial visit were there was a tear in where the doctor sewed me up. Sorry to digress getting off topic. But hang in there and know you are not the only one. xo - Panda
  4. Health is still #1 for me but damn str8, i can’t wait to look good to myself and others. Sadly, I know after massive weight loss It will not be...... For me it’s massive...some of you start at 200 which I consider small but I started above 300. What will happen is that i will look good in my clothes assuming I hit my goal, but I won’t look Good nekkid. So....then plastics need to be done. We don’t want to go through all this to not love our BOD. So...saving $$ for plastics is important to me. Not sure i anyone follows Bariatric surgeon Dr. V, on YouTube but he has many videos how if you have massive weight loss, you must have plastics afterThat’s the only way to get rid of those fat cells and for you to get right mentally. Those fat cells won’t leave unless you get plastic surgery...so you can lose weight....but they stay there....those little cells.waiting for you to feed them again and get fluffy again. Plastics will be motivation not to gain again. Just my 2 cents for whateva it’s worth, lol.
  5. EXACT SAME THINK HAPPENED TO ME WITH AETNA WAS A DISASTER....GOT ME OFF TRACK FOR A MONTH AND SURGEONS OFFICE (THE ADVOCATE) WAS WASHING HANDS OF ME. i STAYED ON THEM AND GOT IT!!
  6. @Lynda486 I was just about to start a thread called 3 week stall and weight gain until I saw this thread.. I am experiencing the same. I have not lost for about a week in fact I've gained 2 lbs. I JUST got the surgery Oct 1. I haven't even logged the two lb weight gain because I want to deny it. It happened around day 21 of the surgey. I've added soft foods in and I think that's why. I'm hitting my protein and fluid goals I just happen to be eating more real food. I never go past 350 calories a day and I get two 30 minutes walks in a day. I don't understand and I weigh several times a day and at the grocery store. I'm reading the responses and they give me some comfort but this is disheartening to have gone through this and now I've gained??? I did better pre-op...OMG..wondering what I did to myself and regretting this surgery. I'm not constipated at all everything is working on that front. Everyone says you lose the most the 1st six months of surgery and now I've stopped.
  7. Haven't posted in a while. Today marks 1 month. Even with my little ER trip I'm glad I did it. But...a RANT. I haven't lost a pound in a week. I have the dreaded 3 week stall. unbelievable. What gives me comfort is that this is a "thing" but dammit only eating 300 calories a day you would think that something would be coming off but no....ARGH...other than that I feel okay...been sticking to my diet..a couple of days the fluids were low. One night I forgot my vitamin...but overall good.
  8. @mousecat88I would put this in the category if they are old enough to choose their own gender assignment without parent's approval like most states, they can decide they want the surgery. I personally believe the person should be 18 unless it's life threatening.
  9. I agree with what everyone said but I personally have always been calorie sensitive. Even before I had WLS If I ate over 800 calories I would gain. The doctors never believed me that I got fat on 800 calories a day, even doing triathlons, but I did. I supposedly have pcos but no doctor will have the guts to tell me. even though I'm insulin resistant, hirsute, never got my periods. Now a days since my surgery. I try not to go over 400 calories in any one day or I don't seem to lose. Maybe 100 calories a meal. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op . @colleen156 Just remember, everyone is different,
  10. as long as you have your documention it was 3 months when you started, they will accept. You may have to fight them. If you search my posts they gave me an initial denial after I finished my 3 month program. I fought them and won!
  11. Thank you @Orchids&Dragons I need to avoid slider foods because those calories can sneak in..Or at least just stay verrrry aware, lol.
  12. I would go with the tuck. The panni is just administrative there is no artistry and if you ever watch skin tight of 600 lb life they only show them after with clothes..that's because their only job is to remove the skin, not to make it look good. ....why get it and then get another surgery and put your bod through it. because there would probably be a deductible or co-pay. You have worked so hard and you want to feel good about your body. would suggest just the tuck. I've been following Dr. Omar Lazos on facebook. He specializes in those of us who have lost a lot of weight from weight loss surgery. Talk about Artist. Google him @Jazzy1125 I follow him and I just had my weight loss surgery so i have over 100 lbs to go but I plan to go to him after. He fixes everything. The thighs, the fupa, (fat upper pubic area) the everything!!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/dromarlazos
  13. HI folks, last night for dinner I had planned to eat 1/4 of an avocado and 2 oz of turkey meat with a little mayo. I guess I wasn't paying attention I ate 1/2 the avocado. It seemed to go down easy. I didn't have any problems at all. Is that too much food? should I be able to eat all of that this soon? . I'm a little over 3 weeks out?
  14. That's great it's affordable. I actually thought healthcare is free though in your country. Maybe that's only Canada and the UK..........
  15. Good for you! I actually preferred the liquid stage. Shakes for breakfast, broth for lunch then maybe a yogurt (thinned out with soy milk) for dinner. Just easier! @Mikeyy
  16. I had RNY on Oct 1st and this is no joke. Ended up back in the hospital once. It's such a trial an error to figure out how much to drink how fast...etc..... 2 oz of meat in my baby measuring cup looks like nothing I want to use a kitchen scale but my plan says DO NOT use the scale only a measuring cup....I feel like I'm eating nothing. I'm so tired, I can't do much more than walk for exercise.... One of my belly button incisions looks weird....random pains sometimes...
  17. I go to the vitamin lounge here. I even went before surgery because I was fighting a cold and it helped reduce my white blood cell count so I qualified. . There are so many choices of IVs and it's a good way to get hydrated without having to actually drink. You can ask them to drip them slow. I took about an hour..you get to relax... My local IV lounge has several bariatric patients. you can get the famous yellow banana bag @momof3_angels My only complaint is that I wish it is a bit more affordable. I would take all of my vitamins and fluids this way if I could....
  18. my doc said purees on week 2 I wish I had stayed on liquids. It put me in the hospital. I'm back on liquids and I'm a day shy of 3 weeks and going to stay on liquids the rest of the month. It's easy to follow and you get a nice weight loss. Let your inside guts heal. (I had bypass btw)
  19. just a quick check in. Today is going to be my first day back to work - boo hoo. But I'm glad to be feeling better. I'm 3 weeks out from surgery tomorrow and I've only lost 12 lbs. That seems low to me. but I am 48 with pcos but I was super heavy to begin with. Have to remember this is not a race. But I see folks lose 40 lbs their first month....gahhhhh....anyway....my thoughts are this is not the easy way out, anyone who says it is I will throw down. I was one of those who always said no to this surgery because it's for lazy people. Boy, was I wrong.
  20. I'm hoping to revive this thread I think it can help all of us....I'm still just about 3 weeks post up so still in my weight losing mode. This was my menu from yesterday. I def should have had more for lunch but I was full.....
  21. deleted posted in wrong place
  22. Surgery Oct 1, returning to work on Oct 21st. I was originally going to go on the 17th, but I had that brief post op complication. I had the bypass though. I heard the sleeve recovery is much faster! @Nice1
  23. sure.....3 days ago exactly two weeks out (surgury Oct 1) I started having stomach cramps.....so bad and unusual. I do have to say that my daily bms were also like supersoft as well....my cramps were so bad I asked hubby to take me to the ER. I thought I was dying (this was Monday night of this week) they did all kinds of test and found a bowel obstruction where the intestine was sewed to the new "pouch" I was not allowed to eat or drink for 3 days while they figured this out. I was transferred by ambulance to my surgeons hosptial...he saw me briefly than released me to liquids only. No one is able to say exactly what happened but they did all kinds of xrays and images of my drinking while being exrayed, etc....they say everything is working normal....but being in the hospital was not fun. Home yesterday and back on liquids per doctors orders. I also followed purees to a "T" I think you will be fine @Linda72 as you had the sleeve. And I started puree on week 2 and you are on week 3. Maybe my insides hadn't healed? I've read that 3% of bypass patients get bowel obstructions and sooo lucky me...... I don't think that happens with sleevers. The bypass "side effects" are a bit more complex due to your guts being re-routed. Right now I wish I had gotten the sleeve like I originally asked for.....I did let myself get talked into the bypass but I 100% own that decision. just feeling down but I do hope that in a few months this will all be behind me.
  24. I do have to say to anyone reading this.... if you are getting the bypass it's certainly not the easy way out. I felt prepared but it's been pretty rough. journey is all trial and error and every BODY is different. even if you follow all post op stuff to a "T" it's still rough. This board has been great for learning but we are all unique and heal different ways......my main advice would be not to be in a rush to get to the next food stage. I'm approaching week 3 and really happy to have gone back on liquids. All of my hell started when I added puree. interesting my program starts puree at day 8 and I see others at 2 weeks. I think that is sensible.
  25. @mom2amrt this was me 3 days ago. I ended up gong to the Er. morphine made me feel better but they did a CT scan that showed a partial bowel obstruction. not sure if that is what caused my severe cramping....they did all sorts of xrays and tests and said I was fine. but they had me on zero food and water for 3 days. Now I'm back home on liquids sort of wishing i had the sleeve. This re-routing of intestines is no joke. no one every told me why i was cramping
