Just make sure to drink electrolite water and my fav is body armor super drink. Posicles are fine but remember you had 3 procedures done at once so dont rush yourself.. I would suggest soup broth and fruit purees. If you havent attempted somewhat solids by monday i would let the dr know just to be sure its ok. Good luck!

So glad it is over...sorry to hear about very rough 72 hours! I never even thought of taking Gas-ex, what a great idea..my surgery is postponed a bit and even if I had had it, I hadn't run across this idea before!
I hear you about the heat, I'm in TX..so I feel ya! Sounds like you are a trooper though to come thru all of that and you are still pointing out positives. I love your attitude. Was thinking about you the other day.
Best wishes on your continued recovery - keep us posted!!

Yes. Gas-ex is a great idea in fact any type of laxative is going to help otherwise you're going to get bound up and you're going to be in a considerable amount of pain pretty quick so yeah keep keep the stuff flowing out LOL

Hi everyone! The past 72 hrs has been full of ups and downs.. I was sleeved on the 26th and came home friday evening. From the day of surgery i vomitted every day. The last day i vomitted was friday morning.. Sorry if im being too graphic but this was my experience. So far im off the pain meds and i still feel a little woosey. I am drinkning lots of water and sugar free juices i had dome chicken broth yesterday and pureed fruits. So far so good. I notice my face is slimming a little bit but i think thats from mostly liquids. Im taking sips of shakes here and there as well.. I chew gasex maybe 2xs a day to keep the gas at bay. Im anxious for my energy to come back. Walking 2 blocks in the heat isnt easy so i stay in most of the time.. Good luvck everyone it is worth it but its no joke! Any questions feel free to ask?

Congratulations and good luck with your surgery and recovery! Some people hav a horror story for everything. Don’t let them get to you. You have a whole group of people here for your support. A friend of mine about my age 52 had the sleeve and she did great! One of the reasons I decided to do this as well. Tomorrow starts your new life wishing you great success and keep us updated.

I'm in Canada so didn't have to do the insurance loop but had very similar requirements pre surgery. We were told to expect 6 to 9 months before actual surgery and honestly, I needed that. They would have signed me off after 3 months as I was doing so well with the weight loss during that period but other things got in the way of that and really, I needed that time. There is a lot to learn as far as how you will have to eat after surgery so this pre time is a good time to educate and experiment and it will help you so much to really get into what you are going to be able to eat in the weeks after..it's very little so it really helps if you can make it interesting!!
The couple of weeks leading up to the surgery vary depending on the surgeon. I went with the Optifast as I simply didn't want to think about making the pre-op diet meals..so I did 4 of those a day plus 2 cups of non starch cooked vegetables and it really wasn't too bad. I ended up doing this for 4 weeks due to scheduling issues but the surgeon said my surgery was easy and I have had very little pain after. Returned to work after 3 weeks but could have gone back after 2 I'm sure. My work is not physical mind you.
There tends to be so much stress leading up to this..and it is not a small surgery by any means, but if you follow the directions as they are set out, it's not that bad either. Though each experience is different and there are those that have had a harder time and I sympathize with those...but be positive looking forward!
This is a life changer and a lifelong journey but I don't regret it for a minute.

Anyone who thinks that WLS is the EASY way out has no idea of what they are talking about!! EASY?!?!
I also referred to it as the 'nuclear detonation' option...because of what is involved and the impact. It is not the first easy 'go to' thing for "gee, I need to lose a few pounds". It is something that I imagine NONE of us would have opted for and I'd guess 99% of us are 'experts at losing weight'.
It IRRITATES the crud out of me that people seem to think that we just woke up one day and said "Hey, I wanna run through the whole messy gauntlet, pre-requisites, counseling, fighting with insurance, hunting for a doc to trust, losing weight before surgery, pre-op diets, knowing what this does to our insides, knowing and accepting how our lives are going to change"..and just said "oh yeah, SIGN ME UP FOR THAT CUZ IT IS EASY!!
You got this, girl! Your name 'CelfLove' says it all. Can't always make ppl understand but those that love us are the ones that we ask to at least accept the decision (acceptance doesn't mean they have to like it..last time I checked...my body is still my own).
    Go get 'em!!

Hello everyone! So i am less than 24 hours away from my surgery and i woke up twice last night full of anxiety and excitement. This is been a lifetime in the making of taking full control of my health. It hasnt been an easy journey ive had people ask me if im sure about my decision, ive heard horror stories and actually been accused of taking the easy way out. Which i think is stupid the easy way would have been lipo and this is completely different! I cant wait until this part is over and the real journey begins❤ Best wishes and dont quit!
