  1. It is totally normal. I had my surgery on 11/8 and on 12/2 i gained 3 pounds. I figured it was because my time of month was due to show up since it last appeared on 11/7.. it never showed up (till today lol) but i was about til 12/10 that it went back down and i am losing since. I think it may also have to do with your body catching up to you, can be dependent on bowel movements and water retention if you had something with salt. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will see it come back off.
  2. Congrats on the baby! Will be so worth it in the end!
  3. try going back to the basic and doing a reset.. Start with the liquid diet and go back through the stages. Not sure if you would need to do the full 2 weeks of each stage, but just a thought.
  4. check with your surgeon. I chewed gum yesterday even tho it is a no no because i was flying and didnt want to be in pain from the air pressure.. and i would do it again if i was flying but not regularly.. it made me gassy and i could feel myself swallowing air.
  5. Feel Better Mouse.. I hope all goes well and you are free of all these things real soon!
  6. Totally Agree! It does get better as the days go by and before you know it you will be back to your old self.
  7. Have you tried Pinterest? They have a lot of meal ideas. I am not 6 weeks out yet so i cant help much, but i have looked on Pinterest and there is a lot of Bariatric recipes out there.
  8. Yogurt, SF Jello, SF Popsicles, Protein Water
  9. I just wanted to give a big thanks to whoever it is in here that recommended the egg bites from Starbucks! I went to DC this past weekend and there was a Starbucks in the hotel.. YAY! I got to try the Cheese and Bacon. While i could only eat half of one.. it was absolutely flipping amazing LOL.. Between that and the Pepperoni and Cheese box from the Smithsonian i was in heaven LOL. I am back home now and stopped and Starbucks on the way to work this morning just to try the egg white and red pepper. I have to wait a few more min before eating it because it has not been 30 min since water yet.. but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! You saved my weekend!
  10. But..again it was só good. I will swap out the ground or do a mixture of some..and i like the idea of adding veggies..but thats next week. Lol I havent been cleared to add veggies yet. I am still at 5 weeks..6 weeks on Thurs SW 306.6 CW 266.8 GW 135
  11. I dont use breadcrumbs..my downfall was the pork. I nprmally use ground turkey but think i might go ground chicken..it was the fst grams that gave me a heart attack lol SW 306.6 CW 266.8 GW 135

  13. Maybe it is just me, but tonight i decided to make meatballs. I am 5 weeks post op and on softs, and one more week to go before i can have normal foods. Today i had a case of the foamies.. during lunch at work and spent a good hour and a half with my head over a waste basket all because i took the 2 final sips of my protein shake.. and then proceeded to heat up my chicken (made in a slow cooker). Not sure if i didnt chew enough or if it was because i had the two sips and didnt wait.. anyways.. i came home and had one more go of the same chicken.. and i was totally fine. I made meatballs tonight because i am flying to DC tomorrow and i wanted to take one for lunch and 2 on the plane since my flight leaves at between lunch and dinner. Sorry for the ramble, but anyways, I made low carb meatballs ( no breadcrumbs) and i tried one tonight to see how they taste.. and they were very good. As i went to log it in my fitness pal I about died when i saw the 1.5 ounce (raw) meatball after cooked had 12 grams of fat, and 174 calories. I am seriously sad... I need to find a new way to make these... ( I also added genpro so the protein was 17 for one.. I was happy about that LOL) Anyways, just needed to vent! Thanks
  14. it will get better! I know we dont believe it when it is happening, but it is very true!
  15. I just watched this.. Very true statements and very informative video. I do think exercise is key but the facts presented are to make sure you are ready for it. Very interesting and i like what i saw.. This just solidified for me to up my gym info that i am going to start in Jan and make sure i have a trainer. Right now i am in the process of scouting gyms so i can make the right choice.
  16. I am only 5 weeks out and supposed to be taking in 800 -1000 calories a day. I can barely get in 6 ounces, I do not even think i come close to that many calories.
  17. Are you taking the pepcid anti nauseous medication? That should help
  18. Congrats and good luck!
  19. i am struggling with slow cooker meat. I am almost 5 weeks post op. My dr said i can move on to regular foods and while last night i was struggling to eat the slow cooker chicken.. i managed to eat a burger patty yesterday. ( a whole one over the course of 45 min ) I have no idea how.. i was in a meeting and we had lunch and my boss kinda explained it as like it was eating popcorn and watching a movie.. while i am thankful it happened with meat.. it scares me it could happen with other food.
  20. Be honest with your Dr. Afterall their specialty is for folks who have tried diet after diet and i am sure they will know when somebody is not being honest. I think that would be the one thing that would prevent you from getting it. Dishonesty as they probably feel that if you could not be honest with them, how are you going to be honest with yourself and make the changes that you need to make after they invest their time and expertise into helping you become a better you.
  21. Mine were only high day after surgery. Other than that they bounced back to normal.
  22. i dont think i get them in the app, but i do get them in the email. I would like to have that reversed actually. All the notification via email are to every thread whether i participated in the thread or not
  23. My doctor said 75% of excess weight! I am sure there are some who go beyond that. It all depends on motivation, determination, and drive to continually be there. Also accountability as to not start to slip over the course of time.
  24. Good Luck! I have never had the band so i cannot answer about that. I had the sleeve a little over a month ago. A decision in the making for 13 years. I wanted the bypass back in 2004, did all i needed to do for insurance approval and then somebody at work was in an accident and my boss asked me to postpone until the new year as it was Oct/Nov when i was close to finishing up the 6 month supervised diet and all that. Well i said ok.. and low and behold the insurance didnt cover it anymore effective Jan 2005. We fought the battle and lost with the insurance company.. Anyways.. Today i still dont have insurance that covers it.. LOL i was at that same job until last october and this new job didnt have insurance at all due to it being a small business. ( but that changes in jan). So i am not in a financial position to where i could do it self pay... It is the one investment i have made in my life on ME and nobody or nothing else. I do not regret my decision one bit.
