  1. This morning I woke up suddenly at 1am extremely nauseous. I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom and dry-heaved my brains out for about 10 min. Only a small amount of mucus and saliva came up. There wasn't anything TO come up, as my last "meal" was a soy shake at 6pm the previous day. Before that I had 2oz puree chicken salad at noon. I went back to bed and woke up a few times nauseous, but not pukey. I am staying home from work and going in at noon. Trying to sip water but it makes me nauseous as soon as it hits my stomach so I've only had 6 sips in the last hour. What gives?!?
  2. I'm not reducing calories. I'm eating the number of calories my surgeon told me to. I can't each much more anyways, even if I was allowed, because of my marginal ulcer.
  3. I just had surgery a month ago. I'm not in a relationship currently. I'm 30 years old. I don't have any plans on ever having a child, but if I did... I have a huge concern now given the bypass. My mother gained 100lbs when she was pregnant with me when she was 22 (she ate very healthily, but her hormones went nuts). She is just now losing that weight... 30 years later. I am terrified that would happen to me and destroy any potential weight loss success I've had. Has this happened to anyone that has gotten pregnant? Is this a concern for anyone?
  4. Ditto the previous poster - my surgeon and OBGYN both said two years before trying because of the risk of malnutrition to you and the baby, and potential developmental issues. I would consult both of those people.
  5. Obviously consult your surgeon, but my surgeon said not to even worry about remotely reaching protein goals for a few months. I am at about 40g a day. I'm female, and much shorter than you so definitely wouldn't cut back that far, lol. But cutting down a good amount I doubt would do much harm.
  6. Maybe that's why I have unreasonable expectations for surgery. Because I have dieted... a lot... and always was somewhat successful... it just wasn't sustainable long-term. That's also why I didn't have much support for this surgery, because my friends and family had seen me lose a large amount of weight on my own.
  7. Hahaha... my surgeon is chubby. Not bariatric surgery size chubby. But he is definitely a round-faced dude (pic of him on my profile). Several of his staff have had WLS. Most are average-sized... but I'm not sure which have had the surgery and which haven't.
  8. I have opted to spend all three of these holidays alone so... no temptations or annoyances. Challenge complete. LOL. Sitting quietly alone with my smoosh watching Twilight Zone marathon on NYE. Holllaaa.
  9. Try warm/hot liquids. I am almost 6 weeks out and still can't tolerate anything cold. It's weird to get used to, but feels good. lol.
  10. I'm in a private FB group with people that all had surgery the same time as me. And I see them posting about their weight loss and I know I should be happy for them, and I am, but I also get really upset at myself and I've thought about leaving the group numerous times. I feel similarly about this forum, but there's legit medical questions and stuff I do ask about.
  11. I honestly wish the side stats weren't a thing. It's basically asking people to compare to one another. Yes, I realize it's there to celebrate accomplishments and to show progress... but for people like me (and I'm sure there are A LOT)... it just makes me jealous and angry and harsh on myself.
  12. I'm a little different because I've always lost about 20lbs a month on diets... but then I quit and regain. SO... to lose 20lbs in a month is like nothing in my mind and I expect more.
  13. RENPHO. You can search it on Amazon.
  14. I had one after lipo and found it uncomfortable and unnecessary. I had zero issues walking around immediately after surgery; there was no discomfort. The only pain I had was slight muscle soreness which just felt like I did a bunch of situps.
  15. If anyone does get this scale, you gotta have the app open when you weigh yourself for your weight to sync. I forget to do that all the time and then my weight will decrease and I'll be like NOOOOOO it didn't record ittttt! lol. Sometimes it will still backup later mysteriously, but it's sketchy. You can also have multiple profiles, so multiple family members can use it.
  16. I like it because it tells you how much of your weight is muscle and how much is fat. So, if I am still heavier than I'd like to be... but it's muscle mass... that's a good thing, versus it being body fat. All my personal trainers went by body fat percentage.
  17. Ugh. Your single word coerced me into scheduling an appointment. lmao. December 31st. Right before my deductible rolls over. Woot. lol.
  18. I didn't *intend* to do this as a quick fix, but part of me still can't help but wish it were true.
  19. Don't judge me. Haha. Ugh. I will go see him in a few months. My leave is wiped out totally from surgery and every month I accrue a day... and every month I have one surgical followup. I am walking a fine line of OMG I HOPE I NEVER GET SICK. I have to search for some random holiday that their office is open but we're closed (government).
  20. In the darker, realistic recesses of my brain, I anticipate reaching my goal in 18-24 months. But outside of that, I demand it within a year. =p
  21. I lost 60lbs in 5 months last year (and gained it all back, hence the surgery, LOL). I think part of my brain feels like I had the surgery so all of it will be instantaneous and that is insane. Overcoming that line of thinking is challenging.
  22. Sometimes I need some false hope that it's possible I, too, can lose that 100lbs in under a year. False hope isn't the right word... because it IS possible. I just don't see much negatives on weight being lost on this forum (except people like me right in the beginning complaining about slow weight loss. LOL)
  23. Honestly, and I know this is not good, but I haven't seen my neuroopthamologist in like... 6 months. He doesn't know I was pulled off the Diamox and will probably be pissed he hasn't been kept in the loop. He doesn't even know I had gastric bypass. But, all he ever did was push me to lose weight so... next time I do see him, maybe he will have something positive to say.
  24. Lab work doesn't indicate any dehydration, but I swear I would love to just have a permanent IV line stuck in me. LOL. I've drank about 10oz since 8am and feel very, very queasy. I keep trying to "force" more down despite that, because I know it's important.
  25. My surgeon tells me I am doing fine and that weight loss will pick up at month 4. But I still don't listen. lol. I can't help but see how much weight other people are losing, especially ones who had surgery in November, too, and be like WTF WHY NOT ME? HMPF.
