  1. Unjury has a vegan pea protein. Just be sure if you use pea protein you buy a bottle of supplemental amino acids, because they typically don't have them in the shake mix. (Unjury sells those, too). There is also rice protein on Amazon. Do not recommend though. LOL. I use https://www.amazon.com/Sports-Protein-Isolate-Chocolate-2-Pound/dp/B001DNV53E/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=soy+protein&qid=1553623000&s=gateway&sr=8-11 Totally delicious - not sure if vegan or vegetarian though? I think it's totally vegan.
  2. Good grief! Glad you got there in time that nothing *more* severe happened. Get well!
  3. When are you not in a feisty mood? =p
  4. Don't worry! I am fortunate my insurance turned around the approval within 3-4 days, but those 4 days were scary and nerve-wracking. And for no reason. Insurances I think are getting the hint that it's better to pay for this surgery than to pay for years of prescriptions and doctor visits, etc.
  5. Can anyone provide some links to some lenders they've used to take out loans for cosmetic surgery? Anyone easy to work with? I have 10K on CareCredit so I am going to use that up first if I can... but the hospital I go to doesn't accept CareCredit (just the surgeon), but I'm sure the procedures will well exceed that. Did anyone use home equity? Can you even use those for anything?
  6. Good luck! You'll do great! I woke up with some pain in the recovery area that lasted an hour and then just totally disappeared. Was in the hospital 2 nights, no issues. Didn't sleep much, but didn't have ANY gas pain. Shockingly painless surgery. Bring pajamas so you don't have to wear a gown the whole time. And a hairbrush. They gave me a toothbrush and deodorant and stuff. Also don't forget a cellphone charger.
  7. i know i literally just posted a "yup. i regret this." thread about 3 weeks ago - but it was more out of frustration over the complications i had. i am anxious to lose another 60lbs. i hope i get there. i could be the most impatient person in this entire forum, lol. now that things seem to be normalizing as far as not having stupid issues, i don't feel so bad about it. i am glad i've lost what i have so far. i didn't have any support either. and when i was going through the complications, my mother was like "i told you so". i picked gastric bypass because i wanted the absorption and dumping; i wanted the negative reinforcements to eat correctly. and also i had acid reflux and sleeve makes that worse, usually. i know several people who had the surgery who regained the weight because they could somehow eat whatever they wanted without consequence. fortunately that doesn't happen to me (yet). if you don't ever put that food in your mouth after surgery, you'll never know if it will make you sick or not, so it's best not to even try. my boss has regained 40lbs and eats mounds of mac n cheese and pizza and donuts, etc. he had surgery 6 years ago. my coworker's daughter-in-law can eat whatever she wants and regained her entire weight lost (100lbs). it's just a tool, not a cure. but i firmly believe if you don't test your limits, you won't have an issue. why risk it.
  8. I have to look for a non-stim (non-caffeine) preworkout, because all of those stims mess with my anxiety and stomach really bad. There's a bunch of options on Amazon. Make an appointment with a dietitian outside of your practice if they suck that bad. Maybe hire a trainer; they are usually familiar with dietary needs.
  9. Wow! Totally amazing! I am so psyched for this. It's been my dreeeeaaammm to have my arms done, even long before I even considered WLS. Basically for the last 16 years.
  10. Highest weight: 286lbs Surgery weight: 276lbs (11/1/18) Today's weight: 202lbs
  11. I stopped smoking regularly in 2016 before my breast reduction. Over the last two years (prior to WLS) I would smoke on OCCASION while driving or if out socially. I haven't smoked at all since last August (I had WLS in November). But the last two weeks I've started having a few cigarettes again. I know it's bad, especially because I already had a post-op ulcer. I am struggling since I was pulled off one of my anxiety medications due to changes from WLS and my anxiety is much worse. I am working with my psych doc now to find new medicines to help me, but in the meantime I see myself turning back to cigarettes! Any advice on something else I can do to help distract me from my anxiety instead of turning to another harmful coping mechanism?? I have Tourette's and my motor tics get really bad when I am anxious... and the more tics I have, the more anxious I get. It's a vicious cycle. I don't want to start smoking regularly again, but it helps me in the moment. =/
  12. Well that's a good thing! When I had my gallbladder out in January, a few incision sites were very sore when I laid on them and then for a few days. If it doesn't get better in a few days, call your surgeon. Take it easy, chica.
  13. It's likely just muscle pain. If the incision site is red or warm, that could be a sign of infection.
  14. I am *almost* 5 months out and in the past month have started getting my hunger sensation back. But it only takes a tiny amount of food to make it go away.
  15. My surgery was delayed 45 minutes because no one could find the vein. They even had the vein finder out and called in the vascular team. My veins are very very thin and extremely deep. It usually takes up to 9 times for a phlebotomist to draw blood - I made one nurse cry once because she just felt bad (I think she was a bit crazy though). But nothing anyone can do about it.... has to get in some way.
  16. Maybe try 5 smaller meals a day?
  17. I actually felt the opposite about this forum - no one talked about complications and I thought everything would be rosy. lol. I guess it's all subjective. That's why I was so bent when **** happened to me, because it seemed like NO ONE else on here had anything going on. People should hear both sides to the story, for sure, though.
  18. Just an FYI - I had ZERO gas pain after surgery and passed no gas at all. The surgeon took extra time removing as much air as he possibly could. I never understood the gas pain thing people talk about. So it may not happen to you, either.
  19. https://www.amazon.com/Nitric-Oxide-Supplement-AAKG-Powerful-Supplements/dp/B07KYGM3QZ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=clean+no+booster&qid=1553539496&s=gateway&sr=8-3 Considering this.
  20. I see someone asked my exact question.. lol... Is this decaffeinated green tea? Green tea naturally containans 25mg of caffeine per 8oz so I'm concerned about the stimulant effect of this item. Answer: We understand the concern, but the Signature Green Tea should be fine as there is no caffeine with this. It is a non stimulant.
  21. Honestly, I have been tired my entire life. I used to be 140lbs and was always exhausted then. Just... permanently zapped of energy. Carbs, no carbs. Nothing helps. I ordered the green tea extract because they all say "non-stimulant", but I guess they meant not an artificial stimulant? I don't know. I'm going to take ONE and see if it makes me panic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C2TPQ21/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That's what I ordered. It legit says stimulant free on it, which doesn't really make sense? I know there's like creatine and arginine, etc. Didn't know if those do much of anything.
  22. Thank you! Your pics look wonderful! I won't mind a scar at all, even if it looked like the first photo.... still 100000 times better than my arms now!
  23. I could only drink warm/hot water for 2 months. Cold water was very painful.
  24. 25) My biggest fear is losing my mother. She is my rock and I don't know how I'd live without her. My biggest fear re: WLS is regaining.
  25. Steroids are awful. I was on them for a respiratory infection and gained 30lbs and developed a fatty buffalo hump on the back of my neck I had surgically removed. I tell doctors I am allergic to them so I don't get prescribed them ever again. Even though they worked fabulously on my arthritis.
