  1. Surgery is a breeze compared to changing jobs. Focus on getting your band and a speedy recovery so that you can find your new job. Good luck to you!!

Yesterday afternoon before my nap, I noticed my fridge making a clicking notice. I dismissed it and took a nap. Two hours later upon waking, I went to grab a sugar free Popsicle. It was MUSH! My freezer was not working.:cursing:Urgh:cursing: I called the repair people and it will be a week until they can come and look it at. That is not going to work. I hauled butt to the nearest appliance store and bought a new fridge. So not in the plan this week. Later in the evening my husband said the refrigerator part was not keeping anything cool. Great! The whole damn thing is busted.:frown: Off to the neighbor’s house to pack their fridge with our food. The new fridge will be delivered between 2 and 4 today. On a lighter note – the Crystal Lite Cherry Pomegranate is YUMMY.

  5. Yes - the glorious burps and poots of post up:tt1: I took a 2 mile walk this morning and pooted the whole way thru the neighborhood.

I had a great night’s rest last night. I was in little to no pain and I was able to toss from side to side with little effort. I walked my 2 miles this morning with great ease. I do feel a little light headed from not consuming a lot of calories. I think I am going to venture out today and look for a rolling computer bag. Currently, I only have a backpack style to carry my work lap top. That will not work going back to work. I am going to have bring my computer back to work on Monday and I doubt I am supposed to lift it myself. A lot of people on this board complain about the pain in the left shoulder. I don’t have anything in my left shoulder but my right side near my clavicle is killing me. I think I need to try the heating pad in that area. Oh, and the most surprising thing to me this morning. I look 7 months pregnant. Really, I do. From the front I look normal, I turn the side and my belly is poking up further then my DD’s. I know it is the swelling but jeez….I hope it goes down before Monday. I don’t want that rumor started at work.

  8. I just been banded and I got my protein in by using the New Whey Protein bullets. I mix them with water. Each one has either 25grams or 42 grams of protein. I half the 42 gram one since most experts say you only absorb about 20-25 grams of protein at a time.
  9. I am doing a lot better this evening. I am doing a lot better sipping on my broth and Protein Water. I walked 2 miles today and feel that the gas is pretty much gone. I am starting to feel a little hungry tonight but I can manage. Are any of you on the full liquids yet? My doc wants me to wait a week before starting them. How are all the August 4th bandsters doing?
  10. Congratulations to you! You will be on your way in no time!
  11. I was also banded on Aug 1st. I have been taking a couple of sips every 15 minutes. I bought a digital timer to help me remember to take the sips. I have been getting about 40-60oz of liquid in so far. It depends on my napping times:smile2:
  12. Good Luck Tomorrow Pinkposey. I walked around my house the first day. You will be fine.
  13. lellow - Count me in for Friday as my weigh in day.
  14. Each day gets better with the gas. I was able to walk 2 miles today and felt really good after the walk. I can still feel some gas but it is much better today.
  15. I was banded on August 1 at Rex Hospital. I was wheeled into the operating room at 8:42 am and I notice a car stereo in the wall with speakers. I only thought to myself “I wonder what music my doctor will be playing while he is installing the band.” I was strapped down to the table and told to breathe in the mask. I don’t even remember breathing in. I awoke around 11:00. I was very groggy and in severe discomfort. Not really pain. I was given morphine and then the shakes came. I could not get warm. I was then given demoral and then a shot of something for nausea. By 12:45 I was wheeled out the hospital and into my car for the ride home. After getting home, I just went to sleep for a while. I then took some Lortab and felt really good. Walked around the house and nap on and off for the day. Saturday, August 2, was the most painful day so far. It was mostly gas in my shoulders and upper stomach area. My port area is really sore. My step mom came over and kept my daughter overnight which was a blessing. My husband and I went to Wal-Mart to walk around some and to get my Gas X strips. I didn’t realize that it was Tax-free weekend and every school supply shopper was out in full force. We managed to get what we needed and to get out pretty fast. Sunday, August 3, was great. I woke up feeling refreshed and some gas pains. My port area is now every color of the rainbow and really sore. I wanted to go for a walk before it got hellishly hot outside. I walked for about a mile and it took my 30 minutes. After that I passed out in the bed for 2 hours. For the rest of the day I sipped on protein bullets mixed with water and ALL bran fiber water dink mix. I don’t feel hungry at all yet. Or least what felt like hunger before being banded. I hear my stomach rumbling but I don’t know if that is gas or hunger. I practice sipping every 15 minutes and managed to get down 60 oz of water and 50 grams of protein. Today is Monday, August 04, and I continue to feel better. My husband went back to work today and I am home alone. I took a 2 mile walk today. I will continue to sip on some protein water and just take it easy. My weight loss journey has started.

  17. I took my walk outside. It was a little hot but I walked slow and it really helped the gas. It did make me tired - but I really feel great. I only take the pain meds at night. For the most part I would describe the pain a discomfort and soreness - not sharp pains at all. Good Luck to all the upcoming surgeries.
  18. Hey guys - I was banded on Friday and everything went very well. I was not in too much pain waking up from the surgery. Actually, I didn't feel pain until Saturday. I would not describe it as pain but more of discomfort. Gas pain and pressure has been the biggest issue. Walking and gas x strips are helping. I have a timer to remind me to sip slowly every 15 minutes. I took a 1 mile walk today and that seemed to drain all my energy but after a nap, I feel pretty good. Good Luck to all the August 4th bandsters!!!
  19. The gas is better today. I woke up feeling really good and walked for about a mile with my husband. After that I was tired and took a 2 hour nap. I have been on the Gas X strips and they seem to be so-so. Walking helped today. I also had a BM(TMI - I know) and that got rid of a lot of gas:ohmy: I am finding out that I really don't like the plain broths. I have been straining Soups and eating the broth. Thanks for all the well wishes. Each day does get better.
  20. How long did you guys have to wait for the 1st BM after surgery. I am getting worried. I had my surgery yesterday morning and I have not had once since Thursday (3 days ago). I am on clear liquids so maybe that has something to do with it????
  21. 2 days under my belt of being banded and I would say the worst part is the gas. I feel like I have to burp or pass gas really bad. I have taken the GasX strips and they help a little. My port scar is sore but I can take it. I can really say that I have not been in pain - just minor discomfort.
  22. I use the protien new whey bullets. I think the are tolerable in taste. They have 2 kinds - 25 grams of protien and 50 grams of protein. Most experts agree that you can only absorb 20-25 grams of protein so I split the 50 gram one in half.
  23. My band date was Aug 1 and everything went well. I work about and felt very little pain but lots of pressure. I would the whole experience was great. My only pain is the pressure from the gas. I have been sipping hot tea and chicken broth. I have walked around my neighborhood and the local walmart. Nothing is really helping at this point. I have 4 very small incisions and 1 bigo one that is the port area. The port area is really sore - like doing 1000 sit ups - not that I know what that feels like:unsure: I feel good for the most part and I can't wait to become a big loser:biggrin2:
  24. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. My dr. has moved up the surgery to 8:15 and I am very calm right now. I will post as soon as I can. Lana - we can meet up next week - I will be home all next week. See you guys on the other side.
