  1. I have had similar problems. I had gastritis and esophogeal erosion. It is getting better, but slow. I have to be real careful about what I eat and when. Spicy foods or milk products irritate the esophogeal erosion, then I vomit, and that makes the gastritis and erosion worse. I have not been completely unfilled, but if things don't improve a little faster, it may come to that.

    Question re: unfill then refill

I have had simular problems. I think I was filled to a good spot, but thought I would lose easier if I were a little tighter, so my doctor filled it. I did OK at first, but got to PBing and vomitting. Pretty soon, I couldn't really eat anything that wasn't liquid. It felt like the band was getting tighter. I had a little removed, but the process started over within a few weeks of PB, vomitting, and being too tight. Had two more unfills and went through it all again. Finally I had a scope done and they found I had esophogeal erosion from all the PB and vomitting. I had more taken out, but not all and am on Nexium. I am doing better now and planning to have a small fill next week. I have really tested the band with all the vomitting and lucky not to have a slip. My advice, don't get too tight, eat slow, take small bites. Vomitting can make you swell, so take it easy after vomitting or even PBing. Also, I love the unflavored Unjury protein.
  3. I just looked online and it is the same as I have been getting at GNC only cheaper. Saundra, I need your member account # to get you credit for the referral. You can post it or email me at gimson@centurytel.net. Good luck with surgery!
  4. Thanks for the info. This is cheaper than the ones GNC has. I will have to order and I will do your referral.
  5. My doctor gives out this recipe for when things get stuck. It should be 4 oz. warm water with 1 tsp meat tenderizer and 1 tsp lemon juice. You sip it. I have tried it, it is OK.

    OK...I'm in a PANIC

My doctor said a slip would make you vomit every thing you try to eat. He has never had one slip, so what would he know.

    Hi

Welcome! I love my band. I have been able to lose weight in the past, but now I have the confidence that it will stay off! I have lost quicker than I expected and it has not been a lot of work. My band is at a good spot. I eat fairly slow, and stop when I'm full. If you overeat, you will throw up. My band was too tight for a while, so I got a little taken out. When it was too tight, I would throw up easy. I was doing that about every other day and was afraid it would slip. My doctor said he has never had one slip, but agreed that it was too tight. I don't get hungry much. I still have a problem with taking too much food, but the band won't let me overeat!

PMS swelling... anyone have this problem?

I was so glad to find this thread. I am having this trouble each month. My band seems to be filled kinda tight anyway, so it is really hard with PMS swelling. I try to do soups at that time and I take HCTZ also. I have found that the warm fluids go down better.

    zero energy

GNC does sell protein bullets that are whey protein. I gag them down. I didn't think of mixing them with juice - I will have to try that!
  10. I also had those weird feelings that I couldn't interpret. I had my first fill at 2 1/2 weeks post-op and they went away. I can now tell hunger from gas. I did notice at the weird feeling stage that if I drank something, it would feel better, but then it seemed to pass past the band and I would have those feelings back again. With the fill, things do not pass so easy and I don't have that anymore.

    When do you....

Even if your surgery was something else like gall bladder, you need to give your stomach time to heal. You will notice things are not the same. You will hear strange rumblings, cramps, and your bowels may be different. Give everything time to properly heal. This is an expensive proceedure that you don't want to mess up. Good luck! Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!
  12. When I had my first fill, I had gone there with an empty stomach. After my doctor did the fill, I was suppose to drink. I was really thirsty, so without thinking, I took a big gulp - it felt like I drank a golf ball. I wasn't sure it would go down. I am also having a hard time getting used to my new portion sizes. That is a good problem to have. It teaches me to eat slow so I don't hurt by eating too much.
  13. I get these from GNC. My nutritionist also said that you can't absorb that much at once, to I only drink half at a time. I don't really like the way they taste, so I wash it down with a drink. The ones I get have 176 calories in the 42 g protein one. It is called New Whey liquid protein. GNC also has one with 27 grams of protein called Protein SLAM! It has 100 calories in 3 oz.
  14. I got my first fill yesterday. That is only 2 1/2 weeks post-op. It took 3 sticks for my doctor to get it in the port. I think he would have had me wait until the next visit after poking me for the 2nd time, but I told him it was OK to do it again. I was ready to get this going. Afterward, I swigged a drink of water not even thinking to take sips. It felt like a golf ball was in my esophagus. I burped a lot also. It was slow going down, but did go down. It is now 24 hours later, and things are going down easier. I do have restriction and don't think I would want to try anything but liquids right now. I know that will change as I lose.
  15. I got 6 cuts instead of 5. I don't know what the deal is with that. I will have to find out when I go for my visit next week. I hope he doesn't charge extra for the extra incision. I think I found my port. I never got to talk to my doctor after the surgery.

    Good anti-nausea meds???

I'd call and ask for Phenergan suppositories. I had some on hand and had to use one on my 3rd post-op night and again one week post-op. I think they would be good to keep on hand in case I get sick with vomitting at some time. Over the counter you can use Dramamine. It is for motion sickness / nausea. Good luck!
  17. I have Aetna and my plan only required a 3 mos. diet plan. I was not suppose to go below 40 while on my diet. I gained on the diet. The doctor did not care. He wanted me to get it paid for.
  18. My pre-op nurse said that the combination of anesthesia during surgery and the post-op pain meds can make it hard to pee afterward. She suggested running water, sitting in warm water, or whatever it takes. She said if worse comes to worse I could go to the ER and get a catheter. I told her if it was a problem, I would find a way to go!

    May 19th band date

I was banded May 19 also. I have been having feelings like I am going to burp or urp or something. I keep fighting it. I am wondering if the yogurt was getting to me. I haven't ate any today and have only had this a little. I am so afraid of messing up my surgery. Anyone having anything like this?
  20. I had surgery on May 19. I keep having rumblings in my stomach and I am having a hard time figuring out if it is from hunger or gas. It is happenening a lot. I know I am taking in less, but these happen a lot and I kind of have a hunger feeling. Anyone know what I am talking about?

    Wearing a binder

I didn't get one, but would have liked one. I had one after my gall bladder surgery. I don't think it would hurt to wear it longer. I carry around a pillow over my abdomen now for support. A binder would make it easier.
  22. Walk, try gasX, and I find it easier to pass the gas if I lay on my right side and pull by butt cheeks apart and then try to pass it. Sounds crazy, I know, but helps me.

    Am I hungry?

Flyaway, when were you banded? My one BM was watery. My brother was banded 5 mos. ago and said his bowels have not been the same since. Mine have varied since I had my gall bladder out a little over a year ago.

    Am I hungry?

Its good to see others have the same thing. I have only had one small BM since surgery. I don't feel bad, like I need to, but I think I should have another one. Anyone have this problem?

    Am I hungry?

Thank you so much for your help. I was really hoping that it was gas. I didn't want tobe hungry this soon.
