Kind of freaking out.
Sounds like gout. It won't stop your surgery. I had an attack of gout and had surgery on my afflicted foot. They just said "it's not going to be a problem" and did the operation. You might go to a walk-in clinic or urgent care if they have one in your area and get it checked out. If it's gout, there is medicine that will immediately stop the attack.

regain weight
I think it goes back to what is stated on pretty much every video, article and support group. "What ever procedure you get will only be a tool." It can only provide so much restriction and the rest is up to the patient to pursue or follow a healthy diet plan.

regain weight
This is what the nurse was most likely talking about. I heard about it at the class I had to attend. "RYGP restricts the gastric volume that is capable of storing food, bypassing most of the stomach and all of the duodenum (i.e. the majority of ghrelin-producing tissue). Ghrelin, a recently discovered peptide secreted primarily by the stomach and proximal small intestine and is the only known appetite-stimulating hormone."

Dating
Before internet, the best way to meet people with similar interests would be to participate in activities that you might be passionate about. If you're in to exercise you could join a gym or participate in marathons, etc. If you like to dance, cook, sew or are creative in other ways, you could take some classes for those things. I think it is important to find someone that is passionate about the same things as you are. The best way to meet someone like that is to do those things around other like-minded people. You're a beautiful woman, I'm sure you will have a lot to choose from. Good luck!

Diet or no diet
Here is a protein water I always suggest when people are looking for an alternative for shakes. https://www.biprousa.com/shop/w30-case-12-bottles?ads_cmpid=406311130&ads_adid=25532795170&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=g&ads_creative=84937584490&utm_term=&ads_targetid=pla-63528819233&utm_campaign=&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&ttv=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwio3dBRAqEiwAHWsNVdG5DOE1BL8xkGLGpGx7iHspoZNHVeBwcy4NFitVgpAhdld9TF4nOxoCYwEQAvD_BwE

Kaiser Bellevue, WA
I had to weigh in at my doctor's office this week so they could fax the results to Kaiser in Bellevue. Kaiser called me a day later and said congratulations, you're below the required weight and have finished all of the pre-surgery tests. Now we can schedule an appointment with the surgeon and the dietitian. I started the whole process by weighing in at my Dr.'s office in May of this year. Yesterday I got a call from the "scheduler" at Kaiser and she was super excited to tell me my appointment with the Nut. and Surgeon will be on Dec. 4th! Needless to say, I wasn't as excited as she was considering the process just to see the surgeon to talk about what kind of surgery I will be getting and when that will happen has taken over 6 mo. I pay $650 every month for this insurance plus I think I've met my out of pocket costs for the year so I was hoping to get the surgery done in 2018 before that resets. Makes me wonder if they're stalling on purpose or is this just normal for Kaiser Permanente . At $7800 per year year for health insurance plus out of pocket expenses, I'm beginning to wonder if it would've been better to fly to Mexico and get it done. Oh well, that's my rant for the day. Happy Friday y'all

Pre op now
Good luck with your surgery!

Sleeve to mini gastric bypass or R&Y gastric bypass
Research duodenal switch. It is a very successful surgery that starts with making a sleeve (which you already have) then bypassing about 2/3 of the small bowel. Watch this Dr.'s video.

Birth control pills and blood clots
Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully everything will get back on track for you quickly. Good thing they caught those blood clots, they can definitely be fatal.

PRE OP TESTING TODAY
If they find nicotine in your system, have a pack of these in your purse and tell them you chew one of these when you get an urge to smoke. It slipped your mind that this gum might cause you to show positive for nicotine.

Anyone in the Spokane area? Pre-op
Thanks, hopefully I'll get scheduled around the same time. Good luck with everything!

Anyone in the Spokane area? Pre-op
I still have to schedule it. I've dropped below the required surgery weight so now I have to go by my Doctor's office and weigh in and have them fax that to Kaiser in Bellevue. Then jump through a few more hoops probably

Anyone in the Spokane area? Pre-op
I'm getting my surgery done on the west side of the pass in Bellevue. Welcome to the site.

The weight on my mind
You should just move on from the whole Insurance issue and seek out financing that is specific to plastic surgery. Start looking at options that are offered on this site like bariatric pal mx. It seems like so many people have had WLS and the plastics done in Mexico that it is just as viable an option as getting it done here in the U.S. at a much lower price. Good luck!

Protein Struggle
Might have to use protein water for a while. Here's one that I found. https://www.biprousa.com/shop/w30-case-12-bottles?ads_cmpid=406311130&ads_adid=25532795170&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=g&ads_creative=84937584490&utm_term=&ads_targetid=pla-63528819233&utm_campaign=&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&ttv=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwio3dBRAqEiwAHWsNVdG5DOE1BL8xkGLGpGx7iHspoZNHVeBwcy4NFitVgpAhdld9TF4nOxoCYwEQAvD_BwE

What to expect out of spouse before and after surgery?
I finally had to come to a point in my life where I stopped using my spouse as an excuse to live an unhealthy life. This surgery will be a life changing decision that can only be successful if I hold myself accountable. I've been married for 30 years and my wife does the same thing. She eats in a way that is opposite to the way I need to be eating. I just try to educate her on the things I've learned and keep pushing forward to my goal of becoming a healthier me. Change is hard for everyone in your life to accept. People will act like they want what's best for you when in reality the status quo is in most cases where the comfort zone is. Sometimes the only way to make positive changes is to leave that comfort zone.

Pre -op and Nervous
Watch this guy's videos. They're pretty inspiring. He did the same thing. He backed out at the last minute the first time around and finally went through with it at a later date. https://www.youtube.com/user/dajerseyrat/videos

Thanks, good luck to you too!

Nov 5. Surgery Date - w/ last minute switch to RNY
My sister-in-law had RNY about 10 years ago and she pretty much after the healing process went back to consuming anything she wanted to including coffee and tea but in smaller quantities. Of course there is the whole dumping syndrome that happens with RNY patients when they consume sugars and fats because the duodenum is reattached further down the intestine preventing the pancreas and gallbladder from breaking those things down efficiently. So basically the only thing that will cause us (I'm getting RNY as well) problems long term it sounds like will be foods that become sugar like white bread, refined sugars like what's used in doughnuts and certain types of fats.

Pain
That will be stuck in my head when my surgery day comes around.

Hernia, liver biopsy?
He's speaking of the hiatal hernia. It's a condition in which part of the stomach pushes up through the diaphragm muscle. I've watched a ton of the actual surgeries on YouTube and the fix usually consists of a couple stitches. I think all bariatric surgeons are taught to look for this as part of the bariatric surgical procedure.

WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM SURGEONS OFFICE
It's crazy that they didn't suggest a revision when they removed your lap band. In most of the things I've read and watched, that seems to be the case.
