Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
How much have you lost so far?
-
Maybe this will help you maybe it won't.
Hello all, This will be a lengthy post! 10 years ago I was sure getting this surgery was the quick fix to weight loss I was searching for. I thought I would get the surgery, no pain, no problems. I would self-pay and all my problems would be solved. I didn't think about the depression I was dealing with, the addiction to food that needed to be addressed or the I don't care attitude. I feel that at the age of 20 I was naive and nowhere near ready for this challenge. 21-28 I challenged myself so much. I stop eating beef and pork for8 years. I started working out every week then a couple days then more and more. I started meditating to cleanse my desire for food. I tried lifestyle changes instead of quick fixes. 10 years later! I had time to deal with my depression, I'm wiser and have done years of research on the gastric sleeve. I educated myself year after year on something different about dieting, exercising, being mentally stable, loving me even when I felt I couldn't & understanding that being happy was to be found first, then I could see if this surgery was right for me. While I am truly happy with my life I haven't been happy with my weight in a long time. I wanted surgery to be happy with the person I looked at in the mirror, to be able to enjoy this wonderful life God blessed me with and to get back to a real happiness. I’m 30 years old, married with 4 wonderful children (13,11,10&2), all natural births, very little pain after. I was sleeved 8/6/2018. I went through the doubts and nervousness a week before and a couple of days before the surgery. On the day of surgery, I told myself that whatever happens when I wake up I will deal with it with little complaints. I sighed up for this surgery and felt that I had properly prepared myself for what was to come. I knew the pain would be bad didn't know how bad but I knew the challenge would be great! I knew I would no longer be able to eat what I wanted any longer. A little over 3 days in and I'm happy, figuring out what works on this 2-week liquid diet and I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I WILL FALL BUT NEVER STAY DOWN! I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHY I CHOSE THIS NEW LIFE AND TRY MY BEST AT ALL TIMES! Follow my sleeve Instagram: followmysleeve

I’m officially a sleever
Today I was about to get two shakes in by 7 pm meeting my protein goal of 60. I also pooped on my own which was oddly satisfying. I've been able to adjust accordingly.

I’m officially a sleever
So I have been able to get liquids down ( hot better than cold) no longer measuring just taking sips/ gulps as tolerated. I have been cleaning all day taking little breaks here and there. I feel wonderful!

I’m officially a sleever
I'm really not hungry or thirsty just yet. Pain is at a bare minimum. Been walking since yesterday. I will try to walk 3 times today. I'm also aiming to get in 3oz of fluid each time instead of 2oz. Still no real bm but passing gas fine. Starting to cough and blow my nose.

You got this... I went in thinking the worst. After surgery, I actually asked the nurse if I was supposed to feel this good. Just remember hope happiness overcome pain everytime. I am so happy I went through with this! You may experience something different but the happiness is all the same. Good luck!

How long did someone help you at home after surgery?
I was actually able to drive today. I probably give myself a little more time. I was up most of the day started feeling a little pain a little after 9 but not to bad. Heating pad is my best friend while trying to not take the painkillers.

August 2018 sleeve surgery!!
Aww man! I think all my scales are off and they are never the same as the doctors scales. I just weigh in every Monday. If it say the same the times then that’s what I take. I weigh on two scales to see the difference.

None of Your Business!
To be honest I told the whole world I didn’t give fairy flying dust what people thought! My sister told me I was strong enough to do it on my own so I responded I’m strong enough to be fat forever tho. ??♀️ family , friends or foe will either accept me or leave me alone.

Thank you ! I think I can have coffee in about 6 weeks. I can have decaf now but I want the good stuff lol. No worries we will be back to coffee soon enough. I’m able to lay in bed with lots of pillows. I’m going to try crystal lite packs next week.

August 2018 sleeve surgery!!
I’m on day 2 post op (sleeved 8/6) 1 & a half days in the hospital, I’m home now. Yesterday I could do everything for myself I even passed some gas ( gas pain is no joke). Today I woke up on my own little pain and no assistance from anyone. I think it’s a mental thing. I also think it’s going to depend on how you’re feeling after surgery if you need more assistance at home. The day of surgery I was soooooo weak but today I feel fine. A little gas pain and little stomach pain but other then that I’m doing fine for myself. I’m not about to drink much. Hot fluids are better for me than cold fluids. Either way I want to down a cold cup of water, in due time!

Yay I’m so happy you are my sleeve twin! I have been focusing on drinking as much as I can. Unfortunately that’s about 2oz an hour. My vitamins right now are only one every 2/3 hours. No bm for me yet but I can feel it. My stomach pain are only where the stomach was removed. Did you have to take something to poop?
